Virsh Attach Volume Fails
Hi,
When trying to attach a created volume to an instance using the virsh utility I am running into this error :-

More failover issues
In 1.6.0, when creating a MDT, you could specify multiple --mgsnode options
and it would failover between them. 1.6.3 only seems to take the last one
and --mgsnode=192.168.1.252 at o2ib:192.168.1.253 at o2ib doesn''t seem to failover
to the other node. Any ideas how to get around this?

obdfilter/datafs-OST0000/recovery_status
I''m evaluating lustre. I''m trying what I think is a basic/simple
ethernet config. with MDT and OST on the same node. Can someone tell
me if the following (~150 second recovery occurring when small 190 GB
OST is re-mounted) is expected behavior or if I''m missing something?
I thought I would send this and continue with the eval while awaiting
a
response.

lustre quota problems
Hello,
I''ve several problems with quota on our testcluster:
When I set the quota for a person to a given value (e.g. the values which
are provided in the operations manual), I''m able to write exact the amount
which is set with setquota.
But when I delete the files(file) I''m not able to use this space again.
Here is what I''ve done in detail:
lfs checkquota

Multihomed question: want Lustre over IB andEthernet
Chris,
Perhaps you need to perform some write_conf like command. I''m not sure if this is needed in 1.6 or not.

Problem with E1
Hi All,
I am facing problem with E1 line. I have installed Asterisk
(1.4.20.1) on a system with Digium TE420 card (Zaptel- 1.4.10)
But every
now and then I face problem of down E1's. The log show lot of entries like
"pri_dchannel: PRI got event: HDLC Bad FCS (8) on Primary D-channel of
span 2"
This happens on a regular basis and the E1 becomes up after some
time.

Limited write bandwidth from ext3
We are running a benchmark that does single threaded 512 KB writes to a
LUN on a CLARiiON storage array. The dual Xeon host (Dell 2650) with 4
GB of memory runs RHEL 4U3
We measured the write bandwidth for writes to the block device
corresponding to the lun (e.g. /dev/sdb), a file in an ext2 filesystem
and to a file in an ext3 file system.
Write b/w for 512 KB writes
Block device 312 MBps

BUG at fs/buffer.c:2933 during umount
Hi,
I could not find this anywhere else reported, so here we go:
creating a new btrfs filesystem (btrfs-progs-unstable from git) and
mounting it succeeds, unmounting however fails with the kernel messages
attached to this mail. After that, I can still read and write to the
btrfs mount, but e.g. /bin/sync never finishes, sysrq-s never reports
"Sync complete".

RFC: Tuning ext3
All,
I'm requesting comments from the expert readers of ext3-users on these
notes for tuning ext3 for performance.
Most helpful would be feedback pertinent to RHEL 5; as XFS isn't
supported under Red Hat Enterprise Linux these items are an attempt to
match XFS performance with ext3.
These items were culled from a number of sources. Will they be effective
for achieving the performance

Loop device performance
Hello, I have a production script that do read operations to a lot of small
files. I read that one can gain performance boost with small files by using
a loop device on top of Lustre. So a created 500 GB file striped across all
of my OSTs(which are 8). I formatted the file with ext2 fs, and mounted it
on a client. Just for the sake of testing a simple bash script finds all
files with a given file

CDR/MySQL basic config
Hi,
I'm trying to add mysql CDR onto a vanilla Asterisk 1.2 install. The
add-ons pack has been installed for a while, so now I'm trying to add
the Mysql config.
I've created a mysql database, added the grants for a user acces, and
can run a mysql -u asteriskcdruser -p and can connect to the database.
I've been using this as a guide:

lustre 1.8.3 upgrade observations
Hello,
1) when compiling the lustre modules for the server the ./configure script behaves a bit odd.
The --enable-server option is silently ignored when the kernel is not 100% patched.
Unfortunatly the build works for the server, but during the mount the error message claims about a missing "lustre" module which is loaded and running.
What is really missing are the ldiskfs et al

EXT2 vs. EXT3: mount w/sync or fdatasync
My application always needs to sync file data after writing. I don't want anything handing around in the kernel buffers. I am wondering what is the best method to accomplish this.
1. Do I use EXT2 and use fdatasync() or fsync()?
2. Do I use EXT2 and mount with the "sync" option?
3. Do I use EXT2 and use the O_DIRECT flag on open()?
4. Do I use EXT3 in full journaled mode,

a comparison of ext3, jfs, and xfs on hardware raid
I'm setting up a new file server and I just can't seem to get the
expected performance from ext3. Unfortunately I'm stuck with ext3 due
to my use of Lustre. So I'm hoping you dear readers will send me some
tips for increasing ext3 performance.
The system is using an Areca hardware raid controller with 5 7200RPM
SATA disks. The RAID controller has 128MB of cache and the disks

Files written to an OST are corrupted
Hi, everyone,
I need some help in figuring out what may have happened here, as newly
created files on an OST are being corrupted. I don''t know if this
applies to all files written to this OST, or just to files of order 2GB
size, but files are definitely being corrupted, with no errors reported
by the OSS machine.
Let me describe the situation. We had been running Lustre 1.8.4 for

sas.get under Linux
Dear all,
I am trying to import a SAS file into R (in fact I only need the value labels
from the formats file), using Hmisc package, but I get this error:
my.sas <- sas.get("/home/adi/3", "fis1_sgg")
sh: sas: not found
Error in sas.get("/home/adi/3", "fis1_sgg") :

I read some past discussions and I get the impression
