Non-linear regression/Quantile regression
Hi,
I'm relatively new to R and need to do a quantile regression. Linear
quantile regression works, but for my data I need some quadratic function.
So I guess, I have to use a nonlinear quantile regression. I tried the
example on the help page for nlrq with my data and it worked. But the
example there was with a SSlogis model. Trying to write
dat.nlrq <- nlrq(BM ~ I(Regen100^2),

Calculate area under a curve
Hi,
I want to know the area under a curve, which is not given as a function, but
as values in a time series. It is not a smooth curve, but switches often
between positive values and zero (the values describe the moisture in the
soil over a year, one entry is one day). I already tried
area.between.curves, but got only 0 as result. I guess, it doesn't work
because of these multiple changes

Diablo 2 greyscale WINE 1.1.31
I am having difficulty getting D2 w/ LOD 1.12 to run in colour through wine. I am running a ASUS eeepc 701 w/ the cpu running at 900mhtz and 2gb of ram. OS is Ubuntu 9.10 netbook edition and the game is installed on a Western Digital Elements 1tb hdd connected through usb 2.0 and I had to install the GLIDE3toOpenGL-wrapper v 1.4d to get it to run at all.
The game runs fine, considering the

Ok. Can somebody with write privileges in bugzilla add the bug report? I
can also do this myself, if somebody with the required privileges can
create a user for me.

problem with lattice tiff or bitmap: character size and color
Hi all,
I am trying to make tiff files of lattice plots at a resolution greater
than 300 dpi required by a journal (PLoS ONE). I have tried both the tiff
and bitmap functions. tiff keeps panel colors but reduces axes and tick
labels so they are nearly invisible. bitmap maintains correct label size
but only produces greyscale. Regular plots work fine with tiff; the
problem is only with lattice

change colour of geom_step by scale_colour_manual
Hi,
Color of my step plot is now by default. Now I'd like to change the color as
the grey scale I specified. I don't know why I got three black plot. Here I
attach two version of codes. The first one produces a step plot with color
by default. The second one, modified from the first one, is not producing
the grey scale I want. Any help would be highly appreciated.

In particular stdin() works in an interactive session but not when R -f
/ Rscript is used, since it does not wait for the user to input anything:

how to read individual values from a pixmap object
Hi All,
I have a greyscale image that I am reading in through RGDAL and placing in a
pixmap object.
As an example use the logo.jpg file that comes with the RGDAL package:
#Read the file
logo <- system.file("pictures/logo.jpg", package="rgdal")[1]
x <- new("GDALReadOnlyDataset", logo)
#Create the pixmap object
xGrey <- getPixmapGDAL(x)
Now I would

And if you are after shared-memory parallelism, you can try the 'Rdsm'
package: https://cran.r-project.org/package=Rdsm

'Dynamic' 3D plot
Hi,
I am looking for a R package to draw 3d plot. But not in a static way like scatterplot3d or stuff like that. I would like to make rotate the plot, to zoom/unzoom etc..., actually to render the graph 'dynamic'... (for the biologist and bioinformatician, a R package which permitts to reproduce what pdb viewer does).
Does a Way exist to do something like that in R ?
Thanks,

Dealing with .git folder when using R CMD INSTALL
Dear all,
quite a few package tools depend on R CMD INSTALL today for rapid testing
of a package, eg:
- devtools::install()
- BiocCheck::BiocCheck()
I've noticed that at least BiocCheck() doesn't ignore version control
folders like .git. Trying to find out why this was, lead me to R CMD
INSTALL.
I know this R CMD build ignores these files and folders by default, but R

Stripchart and Boxplots side-by-side
Dear all -
With the following code I get Boxplots and Stripcharts in one Plot:
with(InsectSprays, boxplot(count ~ spray, boxwex = 0.3))
with(InsectSprays, stripchart(count ~ spray, col = "red", vertical =

But the dots from the stripchart are plotted over the Boxes.
Is there any possibility to have Stripchart and Boxplots side-by-side,

connecting boxplots
Hii,
I created some boxplots with this commands:
x <-read.table(file="test.txt")
x$group <- rep(1:8, each=5)
boxplot(V3~gruppe, data=x)
Now, I will connect the boxplots to each other to the min, max and median
values.
Can anybody help me how to do it ?
greetings,
J

surpressing tickmarks / labels x-as for two sets of boxplot (plotted as stacked boxplots)
Hello,
I am trying to plot two sets of boxplots together. These are estimates of two
experiments and?seven?factors.
The results of the two experiments I want to plot as boxplots stacked to each
other.
Therefore I plot first the results of the first experiment; and next with the
add option the second set of boxplots.
The boxplots are plotted at 'at = 1:7 - 0.15 for the first experiment and

there is talk about a possible multimedia instruction set in a future

How to speed up int2bin conversion?
Dear R-help members,
I'm processing a large amount of MODIS data where quality assessment
information is stored as an integer value for each pixel. I have to
converted this number to an 8 digit binary flag to get access to the
stored quality code (e.g. in2bin(165,8) = 1 0 1 0 0 1 0 1).
Unfortunately, I did not manage to find a package providing a fast
function to do so. I need to run
