Canadian politcal party colours in ggplot2
A stupid question but does anyone know how to express the actual colours used by the main Canadian political parties? I want to do a couple of ggplot2 plots and have lines or rectangles that accurately reflect the party colours. I can probably play around with RColorBrewer or something to figure it out but if some some already has got them it would save me some time especially with the NDP

plotting
Hi alL, I have a data frame with 4 columns: "value", "time", "group" and "id". I would like to plot "value" vs. "time" with different colors for different levels of "group" and different symbols for different values of "id". I think I could do this but I would like to see what is an easier way to plot the

Overlay Histogram
Dear all, For two sets of random variables, say, x <- rnorm(1000, 10, 10) and y <- rnorm(1000. 3, 20). Is there any way to overlay the histograms (and density curves) of x and y on the plot of y vs. x? The histogram of x is on the x axis and that of y is on the y axis. The density curve here is to approximate the shape of the distribution and does not have to have area 1. Thank you

Help
Dear all, I need some help on plotting multiple boxplots on one figure. I have three matrix A, B and C. Each of them is a 1000 by 10 matrix. The 10 columns of all three matrix correspond to the 10 values of the same parameter, say k=1, ..., 10. I want to make a plot where x axis represents different values of k. For each k value, I want to plot three boxplots, one on top of another. For

Fill pattern for Boxplots?
Is it possible to fill the boxes of a boxplot with filling patterns/texture instead of colours? Or both mixed? (for example white, grey, left diagonal striped, right diagonal striped) How can I do that? I searched here, but didn't find an answer. Thank you! -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/Fill-pattern-for-Boxplots-tp4639698.html Sent from the R help mailing

Add text A, B, C and D on multiple ordered plot
Dear list, Is there a elegant way to name multiple ordered plot as A, B, C and D? Just put A, B, C and D on the top left corner of each plot. Usually I do it in Illustrator, but I think in R should there is a way. Could you please provide a example? Thank you very much in advance.

How to do the same thing for all levels of a column?
Dear all, I am a R beginner, and I am looking for a way to do the same thing for all levels of a column in a table. Basically, I have a bunch of protein sequences composed of different amino acid residues, and each residue is represented by an uppercase letter. I want to calculate the ratio of different amino acid residues at each position of the proteins. Here is an example table: Proteins

RColorBrewer
Hi there everyone! So I'm a student in college, taking a very basic Statistics course. We're using R for most of our assignments. I've hit a pretty big wall here. I'm attempting to create a heat map of the entire united states which corresponds to a set of percentages I have for each state. My teacher suggested that I simply create a color palette with RColorBrewer that is in the

Cannot read or write to file in Linux Ubuntu
I am the proud owner of a new laptop since my old one died the other day. Currently I have a dual-boot Windows 7 Home and Ubuntu 12.04 . I'll leave the Windows problems for another post. I know practically nothing about Linux so I am probably doing something stupid but ... at the moment I cannot seem read or write files in Ubuntu. I am not having any problem saving other documents to the

smoothScatter plot
Hi, I want to make a plot similar to sm1 (attached). The code I tried is: dcols <- densCols(x,y) smoothScatter(x,y, col = dcols, pch=20,xlab="A",ylab="B") abline(h=0, col="red") But it turned out to be s1 (attached) with big dots. I was wondering if anything wrong with my code. Thanks,Zhengyu -------------- next part -------------- A non-text

column and line graphs in R
Hi all, I would love to plot my data with R. I have abundance and frequency of fungal taxonomic data that should be plotted in the same graph. In Microsoft Excel is that possible but the graphic result is, as always, very poor. Is there a function that may let me plot these data in R? I have a matrix made of two columns, on is the relative abundance and the other is the relative frequency for

lm function - strange error
I am following a document teaching how to use regression and right at the onset I get an R error. I understand that variables "conc" and "signal" should have the same length but I am using the what R manual suggests to drop the error and it is not cooperating. What gives? The manual says that the default is na.ombit by the way, not that it's addition does anything How

How to plot 2 continous variables on double y-axis with 2 factors: ggplot2, gplot, lattice, sciplot?
Hi, I have a data set with two continous variables that I want to plot MEANS (I am not intrerested in median values) on a double-y graph. I also have 2 factors.
