exporting an FUSE base file system to windows
Hi, What I wanted to do was to export an FUSE based filesystem mounted on linux to a windows box using samba. I can browse and navigate the fuse filesystem without problems on the linux box. With smbd running I can even navigate the filesystem using smbclient. Unfortunately when I try to access the exported file system from WinNT the mountpoint of the filesystem shows up as a zero size file

Samba "%G" replacement not working in "Logon script" ?
Dear all, I experience now a strange bug with Samba 4.1.11 : When I define a fixed-name as logon script in smb.conf, it works : logon script = employee.bat But if I try either %g.bat or %G.bat, or even "%G.bat", it doesn't work : * logon script = %g.bat * logon script = %G.bat * logon script = "%G.bat" In the logs, there was a message showing that Samba was

PANIC: share_modes_identical
When 2.2.4 was released, I updated my cvs and did ./configure and make (no special options). Since I came in somewhat early today and nobody was around I did the make install. Everything ran fine until I tried to load a particular file and I'm receiving the following error and unable to open the file on a network share. If I place the file on a local drive it loads fine. Permissions and

STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED with NTCreateAndX if Access Mask has System Security bit set
I've been trying to run a .NET app on Windows 2008 against a Samba v3.6.1 server running on OpenSuse x64 v12.1 but keep running into problems. What the .NET app is doing is trying to read the ACL for a directory using UNC path pointing to a directory below the "users" share on the samba server. The app is running as user Administrator. On the samba side the Administrator user has

Problem After Upgrade - NT_STATUS_FILE_IS_A_DIRECTORY
I'm running Samba 3.4.7 on Ubuntu 10.04. This is a recent upgrade and we've starting experience a sporadic problem after this upgrade. When users are browsing through Windows Explorer they sometimes run across folders that appear as unassociated files. This requires the user to click the 'Refresh' button in Windows Explorer to properly see the folders. The files and folders are

Samba "%G" replacement not working in "Logon script" ?
Dear Ricky, Thanks a lot for your answer. But I still have two problems: 1. I am not using samba as AD DC but as PDC. 2. What I would need is the primary group... Do you thinks %WORKGROUP% could work ? 3. And should I use %WORKGROUP% in smb.conf or in batch login script... Thanks a lot in advance for your help... poor samba performance with many smaller files
I removed the O_CREAT|O_EXCL checks and added check to exclude O_DIRECTORY, but it is not working, opening of files fails and I don't know why. I can see in strace logs that openat syscall in vfs_aio_pthread was successful, but it still fails and this messages are logged: [2016/04/28 13:28:59.691782, 5, pid=5623, effective(32697, 10513), real(32697, 0)]

Building a NFS server with a mix of HDD and SSD (for caching)
Hi list, I'm building a NFS server on top of CentOS 8. It has 8 x 8 TB HDDs and 2 x 500GB SSDs. The spinning drives are in a RAID-6 array. They are 4K sector size. The SSDs are in RAID-1 array and with a 512bytes sector size. I want to use the SSDs as a cache using dm-cache. So here what I've done so far: /dev/sdb ==> SSD raid1 array /dev/sdd ==> spinning raid6 array I've

Saving files with MS Word to samba3 server is very slow!
Hi! I'm currently hunting a strange problem and looking for help! I have a samba3 fileserver (currently samba-3.0.20b, but problem can be reproduced with samba-3.0.7, but _not_ with samba2 like 2.2.8a), and I see performance problems when writing files with MS word 2002 SP3 from a NT4.0 (SP6a) workstation. Saving even the smallest file takes more than 10 seconds! Copying files with Windows

We have a lot of [2006/01/04 18:44:40, 0] smbd/open.c:open_file_ntcreate(1355) Trying to delay for oplocks twice in the logs. Do they harm in general? Bug found in Samba 4 ?
Dear all, As nobody seems to know what the problem could be, I think it must be an important bug in Samba 4 that "forget" to replace %G or %g with the group name. Could someone confirm that it is a bug and that I should fill one, in samba bugzilla ? Thank you very much, Denis -------- Message original -------- OBJET: Re: [Samba] Samba "%G" replacement not

Weird permissions problem
Hello, I'm having a permissions problem I just can't quite figure out. I can not access any directory that is owned by my userid if the permissions are 700. If I change them to 770, with my default group on the directory, then I can access the directory. This was working fine with Fedora 19 for several years, and it broke when I upgraded to Fedora 22, and still broken with F23. my

poor samba performance with many smaller files
Hi, I did use wireshark to verify that the client (window7) is not the problem, client is sending out multiple "SMB2 Create request" packets before he gets some answer. On the server side samba is processing this requests in a synchronous way, in order which they were send, that is what I see from strace output. Error copying dot-files to samba share
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, I'm having a problem copying (overwriting) a dot file to a samba share. When I create a dot file (e.g .project) on a local drive at the XP machine, I'm able to copy the file to the share ONLY if it does not exists there. If the file already exists, Samba refuses to overwrite the file. The reason of this behavior must have something
