Solaris 11.1 + Samba 3.6.6 + ads + getent group - a bug, perhaps?
Hi, I posted a few days ago with some Samba + ADS integration problems. I've since progressed to a point where I have a Solaris 11.1 host running Samba 3.6.6 with ads as the security type, running winbind for my mapping needs. I can now wbinfo ?u and wbinfo ?g just fine. Returns things as I'd expect from the local and auth-sources (AD). What I can also do is getent passwd, which

Issues with 3.6.6 as a PDC for Windows 7
Hi folks, At a customer, I installed a fresh Samba Debian 7.0 "Wheezy" with samba 3.6.6 as a PDC for a network of Windows 7 machines. This isn't my first-ever samba installation (I have several customers whom I support running samba in similar configurations), but it is the first time I'm using the just-released Debian "Wheezy" and the samba that comes with it. [3.6.6] Possible to allow password-free read/write access?
per smb.conf, you might want to try changing to "security = share" (assuming you don't have any shares that might require more restriction. Did you try setting the linux directory permissions as 777- at least for testing? Hello Richard, Not sure if it applies to your particular case, but I would try following. In windows explorer please right click on the mapped drive, select Properties, click on Customize tab and make sure that option "Optimize this folder for:" is set to "General Items", otherwise select it, check "Also apply this template to all subfolders" and click Apply.
