Strange behaviour with rsync and mounted truecrypt volume
Hello, when i mount a truecrpyt volume with truecrypt 5.1a and synchronize data locally with rsync (version 2.6.9 protocol version 29) like this way: $ truecrypt myvolume.tc $ rsync -av /home/oliver/myfolder /media/truecrypt The myfolder is copied to /media/truecrypt like it should. But when i dismount the truecrypt volume and mount it again: $ truecrypt -d /media/truecrypt $ truecrypt

truecrypt 6.1a
Has anyone built and installed truecrypt 6.1a on CentOS 5.3. When I build it it keeps failing here: Compiling EncryptionOptionsWizardPage.cpp Forms/EncryptionOptionsWizardPage.cpp: In member function ?TrueCrypt::SharedPtr<TrueCrypt::EncryptionAlgorithm> TrueCrypt::EncryptionOptionsWizardPage::GetEncryptionAlgorithm() const?: Forms/EncryptionOptionsWizardPage.cpp:45: error: no matching

truecrypt & kernel 2.6.24
Hi all, Has anyone used TrueCrypt on a XEN based machine before? I'm running CentOS 5.3 with kernel 2.6.18 but when I launch TrueCrypt, it keeps on telling me I need kernel 2.6.24 or later. "Your system uses an old version of the Linux Kernel. Due to a bug in the Linux Kernel, your system may stop responding when writing data to a TrueCrypt volume. This problem can be solved by

truecrypt on synology as subfolder
Just a small question. ============== I was really just meaning to ask whether there are issues with running truecrypt inside a samba share. My system had never had any issues but now I was writing to a folder that is a truecrypt mount inside a samba share and the smbd process writing into it blocked or is still "D" waiting for IO and I cannot kill it. So the question was whether

Skip based on checksum not worked as expected when using with complex filter rules.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 So, I am assuming that without --itemize-changes you couldn't tell the difference between "I am transferring a file" and "I am fixing the timestamp on a file". Even if I am right, you are probably still mis-using --checksum. When you use --checksum you force a checksumming of absolutely everything on both ends before anything

Skip based on checksum not worked as expected when using with complex filter rules.
Hi all, I've a local repository for Debian, and I'm doing some rsync testings on it. See the following commands for detail: werner at debian:~/software/LocalRepo$ rsync -amvHKLPRSB131072 -n \ ftp.uk.debian.org::debian/./dists/wheezy-updates/main/\ debian-installer/binary-amd64/Packages.gz \ repo.debian.local/debian/ [snip]

rsync based on checksum only
Is it possible to tell rsync *not* to use file names, date stamps, etc and only use the checksum for deciding if a file is the same? the remote machine "normalizes" a set of file names to remove all punctuation marks and forces all file names to lower case. The files themselves are unchanged. --checksum looks promising but it does not say anything about file names: -c, --checksum

Several files's checksum change without reason
Hi list, I'm a bit worried here. On a server, Centos 4.3 fully-patched SELinux activated, Osiris (a decentralized scanner for files changes on distant servers) signaled me several changes on files who were not (at first sight) affected by a recent update (the list is below). Is there a logic explanation for those changes to happen ? The "rpm -Va" command does not output md5sum

Enabling checksum for individual files?
Hi all, I tried to use rsync-2.6.2 to sync a set of subdirectories inside a directory. While most of the files are being sync'd correctly, rsync seems to wrongly consider one file as uptodate. Both the source and destination have this file, with the same size and same date (according ls says). But md5sum shows that they are different. One possible solution is to enable the checksum, but it

CentOS 5.3 Xen installation trouble installing FUSE
Hi, I've got CentOS 5.3 installed as a Xen client installed. I've recently been trying to install TrueCrypt on the VM, but am having miserable troubles with the Fuse kernel module. To date, I've installed the following packages: yum install truecrypt yum install fuse However, to launch the fuse module, I need the dkms_autoinstaller running. However, when I try to start the

TrueCrypt WD External Drive
I have a WD Elements 2TB USB hard drive. I would like to encrypt the whole drive with TrueCrypt on my CentOS box. Could someone direct me to a tutorial on how to do this? Ideally, I would also like to access it with my WinXP box, but this part is optional. Thanks for your help. Mike.

Rsync Truecrypt
I have seen people say both that rsync can efficiently copy truecrypt volumes. I got it working once with deltacopy but as I'm trying to get it to work from the command line, I cannot. It just transfers the whole file. I am using -rvs -inplace switches. Does anybody have any suggestions? _____________________________ Stephen Zemlicka Integrated Computer Technologies PH.

File Lock Issue
Hi All, I've seen a few messages similar to my problem, looking back through the mailing list but the issue I'm having is a little more unique. We have a user, who uses both wireless and wired connection. He uses truecrypt, that has the encrypted file sitting on a samba share. What I think is happening is he will unplugged his wired connection and move to a meeting room and connect

Ogg checksum thingie needed
I need some sort of utility to calculate a checksum of an Ogg file. Two differently encoded Ogg:s should give different checksums, but the same file with different tags should give the same result. (The serial number doesn't work here, obviously. I need something that is changed if a bit of the file is lost.) -- Björn Lindström <bkhl@elektrubadur.se> http://bkhl.elektrubadur.se/
