lnet infiniband config
Hi all, I''m getting my feet wet in the infiniband lake and of course I run into some problems. It would seem I got the compilation part of sles11 kernel 2.6.27 + Lustre 1.8.3 + ofed 1.4.2 right, because it allows me to see and use the infiniband fabric, and because ko2iblnd loads without any complaints. In /etc/modprobe.d/lustre (this is a Debian system, hence this subdir of

Multihomed question: want Lustre over IB andEthernet
Chris, Perhaps you need to perform some write_conf like command. I''m not sure if this is needed in 1.6 or not. IP over IB support.
Hello, I'm trying to set up a lxc container with access to a Infiniband card with IP over IB. I have scripts written to create the device in the container and add all the proper cgroup permissions on the host. I can access the card from the container, but there is no Infiniband network device present. I can't create the ib0 and ib1, and I have come to believe this is because they

New 10Gbe adapter on lustre client brought down switch due to broadcast traffic
Hi Guys, I had a situation yesterday where I had a 10Gbe adapter on my lustre client configured but not active (the cable was plugged in and had link but the port was down) and this actually brought down our cisco switch. This is a new port that I am setting up. The reason why the switch went down was due to the amount of broadcast traffic coming from this port even though it was shutdown:

Re: [openib-general] problems with lustre o2ib module & ofed
It seems that lustre puts its modules in /lib/modules/2.6.16.21-0.8-default despite the fact that my kernel is 2.6.16.21-0.8-smp ! uname -a Linux n32 2.6.16.21-0.8-smp #4 SMP Sun Sep 24 08:47:30 BST 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am''. /bin/sh ../../mkinstalldirs /lib/modules/2.6.16.21-0.8-default/kernel/fs/lustre /usr/bin/install -c -m 644

smbpasswd stops working post-upgrade
"cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and the server doesn't support it" Should mean that your Samba is too old for your clients. See badlocks bug to better view of your issue. See man smb.conf looking for "sign" into it. I believe - but I'm not sure - that the option you are looking for are: client ldap sasl wrapping = sign client use spnego = yes

CTDB + InfiniBand Public IP Addresses
Hi, I'm trying to set up a small CTDB cluster running in an IPoIB InfiniBand network. When I try to start up a cluster with a set of public IP addresses, the public addresses do not come online. So, I removed the public address configuration and started a single node up by hand, then tried to add a public address as follows: [root at gp-1-0 ctdb]# ctdb ip Public IPs on node 0 [root at

problem with installing lustre and ofed
Hello, I am having trouble installing the server modules for lustre 2.1.4 and use mellanox''s OFED distribution so we may use infiniband. Would you folks look at my procedure and results below and let me know what you think? Thanks very much! The mellanox ofed installation builds and installs some kernel modules too, so I used this method to ensure OFED compiled against the correct

smbpasswd stops working post-upgrade
Background I have a network of machines behind an air-gap, therefore upgrades are a tedious business normally performed four times per year. The systems run various versions of CentOS and I use the Samba that is distributed with CentOS. Last weekend I updated the 5.7 machines with updates to 18 April 2016, not the current 5.8. Those of my users who run Windows boxes (Windows 7 Enterprise)

using ipoib with xcp
Hello, I have been playing with the XCP for a while now, and must say I''m very exited about the technology. I had no prior experience with Xen so it has taken me a while to understand the concepts, but now I feel most important issues are solved and I''ve purchased some hardware to build my (tiny) cloud on. The box is a Supermicro 1026TT-IBXF, so I have 2 x Ethernet and 1 x

Configuration...
Hi have what might be some elementary questions. Really, what I"d love would be for someone who has had good success to publish his/her configuration files and, maybe, the output from ifconfig. At this point, when I see the not-so-good performance I"m getting, I don't realistically know if I'm in the right ballfield. It seems to me, that with so many mellanox cards out

Retraction: Protocol stacking: gluster over NFS
Hi All, Well, it <http://goo.gl/hzxyw> was too good to be true. Under extreme, extended IO on a 48core node, some part of the the NFS stack collapses and leads to an IO lockup thru NFS. We've replicated it on 48core and 64 core nodes, but don't know yet whether it acts similarly on lower-core-count nodes. Tho I haven't had time to figure out exactly /how/ it collapses, I

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi Soumya, One example, we have a common working directory dri_fleat in the gluster volume drwxrwsr-x 22 root dri_fleat 4.0K May 1 15:14 dri_fleat my user (phaley) does not own that directory but is a member of the group dri_fleat and should have write permissions. When I go to the nfs-mounted version and try to use the touch command I get the following ibfdr-compute-0-4(dri_fleat)%

Hi, I was wondering if there were any additional test we could perform to help debug the group write-permissions issue? tips/nest practices for gluster rdma?
Hey guys, So, we're testing Gluster RDMA storage, and are having some issues. Things are working...just not as we expected them. THere isn't a whole lot in the way, that I've foudn on docs for gluster rdma, aside from basically "install gluster-rdma", create a volume with transport=rdma, and mount w/ transport=rdma.... I've done that...and the IB fabric is known to be
