how does one remove bond1?
Hi List, We're using bonding to create bond0 with 2 NICs, and noticing that CentOS 5 2.6.18-8.1.14.el5 (and presumably older) creates bond1 as well. I'd like to remove bond1 from the system, so that our monitoring scripts don't pick it up, except for those machines that actually do have a bond1. So... how does one remove bond1? Thanks! Misc info below of configuration and

What is the recommended way to ssh through a proxy? I've been using putty, compiled from source, as it has a proxy option, but a native option would be very nice. Thanks. Scott

nscd segfaulting on centos 4.5
Does anyone know if there is a fix for nscd segfaulting after a short period of time. Googling for it came up with one result that suggested deleting the files in /var/db/nscd , but that didn't help. Another result was about run away processes which is not the problem I'm having. They are x86_64 boxes. output from /var/log/messages Oct 9 12:56:38 lyra kernel: nscd[11660]: segfault at

OT: Scripting with sudo password
Completely off topic, but I'm sure someone out there is using scripts that require a sudo password of some sort, so I'll ask. What are people doing to automate tasks that required sudo passwords in order to run? sudo without a password is not an option for me, but I would like to be able to enter the password once have it saved and then read back when sudo is required. something

Equivalent to Solaris Zones?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I just wondered if there was an equivalent to Solaris Zones available for Linux. handling kernel panics
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have a problem with a couple of my centos servers hitting a kernel panic about once a week or so. I find them sitting at a panic screen like this: http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/1044/screenshotoakpanicma4.jpg (58k) Two questions: 1) How do I make it reboot after a panic instead of sitting in a hung state? 2) How do I turn on logging so

Best way to detect unknown and/or private incoming caller-id?
I am aware of how to match a particular caller-id or a caller-id pattern and do something with the call like this: exten => 15554441212/_888NXXXXXX,n,Playback(GoAway) What I am curious about, is the best way to block unknown, private and 000-000-0000 calls. I know I can do this for 000-000-0000 calls: exten => 15554441212/0000000000,n,Playback(GoAway) Is there a better way to catch

ntp time server
Currently, my time server is a Sun v240 with a 32-pci gps card (with a proprietary Solaris driver) attached to our gps receiver via an sma cable up to the roof of my building. As I'm migrating almost all of our Solaris servers and services over to CentOS, I'd like to know what other people are using for time server hardware. Any suggestions? -- Andy Harrison public key: 0x67518262

[LLVMdev] "grep -w" irregularity
Not entirely sure how to categorize this particular problem, but it's clearly platform test related: "grep -w" appears to operate differently on the x86_64 linux buildbot versus my local Mac OS 10.4.11 and Ubuntu x86_64. In the CellSPU's shift_ops.ll test case, "grep -w shlh" returns the correct 9 expected occurances, whereas the x86_64 buildbot finds 10. Any
