configure script: locking error
When I try to run the configure script I get the following error:
ERROR: No locking available. Running Samba would be unsafe
I searched the samba archives and found another instance of the same error, but
I don't get the same errors in my config.log file, so I think it is a somewhat
different problem. Instead, I get stuff like:

Documentation request for MP warp error 0x10
Hi Robert,
Thanks for the quick response! That goes in line with my observations
which is that these things happen when using an ATOM/RED instruction.
I've checked and rechecked that I'm generating ops with identical bits
as what the proprietary driver does, however (and nvdisasm prints
identical output). Could you advise what the proper way of indicating
that the memory is

Hi all.
I posted this to LKML, but might get a faster reply if I go direct to

Default Profiles
I'm currently test WinXP and Win2K against Samba 2.2.6. While I've got
profiles working, I havn't as yet got the workstation to retrieve default
profiles from the server.
Is this possible under Samba, and if so how. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

Billing Fun - anybody know where to get a NPA/NXX db?
Hello;
I've been playing with a nifty Open Source java based report writer
called Datavision (datavision.sourceforge.net) and I've managed to write
enough logic to calculate phone bills at different rates from the MySQL
cdr's. (cdr_addon_mysql) Eventually I want to have sets of rate
structures for each user of the system - so I can bill client A at 3
cents a minute and client B at 2

How do you run smbpasswd?
First of all, I am running Samba 2.0.5a on Solaris 7 (or trying to, at
least). I put appropriate entries in /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf to
get Samba running.
I can't seem to use smbpasswd as a normal user to set my encrypted password
in the smbpasswd file (or as root with "-r"). First of all, the
permissions on /usr/local/samba/bin did not allow anyobody to browse the

Amazing, great protocol IAX
Hi;
I've just had a couple of discoveries in the learning process that are
really making me impressed with this software.
1) IAX transfer - I'm running Asterisk boxes A, B, and C. B is in the
middle and has a dialplan that points to extensions on C. When a client
on A in the proper context on B tries dialling a client of C, B is smart
enough to release itself somehow from playing

[PATCH] nv50: fix previous patches
This fixes the previous patches, and add some debugging output
if NV50_PROGRAM_DUMP is un-commented.
Will merge this into the patches, later.

IAX2 crash course wanted
Hello;
I'm curious where I can find a good document describing how to weave
together some servers in different places. Trying to keep things as
simple as possible here, I don't understand how to get 2 way calling
going on between clients connected to separate servers.
First, I have 3 asterisk servers running. One is my firewall here in
Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have two others in

Cannot access Samba through Win2000 or WinNT Server but can from WinNT Workstation?
Hi all,
I have Samba 2.2.2 running on a Linux 7.1 box.
4 machines connected to a WinNT Server via a hub.
The 4 machines are WinNT Server, WinNT Workstation, Win2000 and Linux running Samba Server.
With Samba running (see testparm for samba configuration details) I can logon and access files on the Linux machine using the WinNT Workstation but cannot access the Samba server using the WinNT Server

failover not working
I am pretty sure that everything is set up correctly by the nano howto,
but failover does not work.
I am pinging from both the router, and a machine behind it.
When I unplug the interface the pings is going through, both pings stop
freeze. Eventually I get a full buffer complaint from the router, but the
pings never fail to the secondary.
When I down the interface the pings are going

IAX Native Transfer
Hello,
I'm having an issue with native transfer not happening. I have a *
machine speaking ILBC in the middle of two * machines - everybody on
ILBC, but for some reason they will not transfer. All machines have
public IP addresses and can communicate directly with one another. One
thing I notice is that one of the endponts registers itself on port 1025
as opposed to 4569 for some strange

CDR_Oracle anybody?
Hi;
I've been playing around with various report writers on the cdr_mysql
table and I'm getting rather irritated. I started a thread a couple
weeks ago on "Billing Fun" and got a lot of good responses on how to get
an up-to-date copy of the NDA/NXX database, which I managed to retrieve
and bring into MySQL in a script from the various pieces of code people
posted... very nice.

Samba share and --ghost'ed automount hierarchy
Howdy folks - I have an automount hierarchy "/data", with 30 or so mounts
defined across various hosts on my network. A few of these mountpoints
are temporarily off-line, but still appear under /data, due to the --ghost
option.
When I try to access the top level \\server\data from a Windows client,
the directory listing in Explorer never returns because smbd is trying to

Hi,
I'm Wellington from Brazil and I have the following issue:
