Samba4 problem with Wndows Domain Trust
Hi Gaiseric, "wbinfo -u" does not show the DOMAIN_B users. "wbinfo -n DOMAIN_B+someuser" works and show the SID of the users, also from Domain_B. "wbinfo -i DOMAIN_B+someuser" does not work. It only works for users of Domain_A. For User of Domain_B, it says: failed to call wbcGetpwnam: WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND Could not get info for user Domain_B+someuser

Failing to get uids from AD
Hi, I'm still having trouble getting Samba 3.6.3 / Winbind to fetch UIDs from AD 2008 R2 with the Services for Unix feature installed. My users have uidNumber fields which contain the UIDs I want. I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 The global part of my smb.conf. I've tried changing 'winbind nss info' and 'schema_mode' to sfu as well. security = ADS realm = CORP.mycompany.COM

wbinfo -u does not listed trusted users, wbinfo -n works
Running a mix of samba versions (3.6.25 and 4.5.1) in two domains- one "classic" (with samba domain controllers) and one AD (with windows domain controllers.) The eventual goal is to drop the classic domain in favor of the AD domain. Also trying to move from samba 3.x to 4.x since Samba 3 is EOL'd. the "wbinfo -u" command will list users in the servers domain

wbinfo -u does not listed trusted users, wbinfo -n works, idmap not working
On both Samba 4.5.1 member server and Samba 3.6.25 member server I tried the following command wbinfo –set-uid-mapping=35049,S-1-5-21-xx-xx-xxx-xxx this should have created a mapping entry consistent with the one on the domain controller for a trusted user But I got the following error failed to call wbcSetUidMapping: WBC_ERR_NOT_IMPLEMENTED As far as I can tell from network

Samba authenticating against Windows Active Directory
Hello all, I have a question regarding the integration between Samba and the Active Directory (Windows 2008). Current setup: 1. We have been using a Samba server to offer shared folder to the user in my institution. 2. The users have any kind of operational system on their machines, and they don't log in any domain server 3. The users simply map their shares at the Samba server, using their

UID/GID mapping consistency across at least two Linux machines
I have two SAMBA machines they both successfully joined to the same Active Directory (actually SAMBA 4) I have copied the user files from *server 1* to *server 2* /owner id/ and /group id/s are preserved. on server 1, when is do: *id user1* I get *2001* but on server 2 the same user has different id. This is actual for groups as well i.e different id's. *smb.conf*s are identical --

(userdb/ldap) Set home dovecot variable - How?
Dovecot version dovecot-1.0.rc14-7 (opensuse) Postfix is using Dovecot LDA. I'm getting this error message, and I guess it's going to be a problem on my next task, which is to set up sieve scripts. Is there something wrong/contraditory on my config or I forgot something? I want: /var/dovecot-tests/: where user's inbox resides /var/dovecot-tests/home/: home dir (users will not be

Samba 4 Consistent uid gid mapping across servers.
I have 3 Samba 4 Domain Controllers and 1 Member server, been running in production for almost a year and very pleased with the results so far. I have winbind installed and working on all of my servers and I am also quite happy with that as well, except that the inconsistent uid and gid mapping is starting to cause some problems for me. I have done a fair bit of research and I think I would

nfs based shared home dir question
Hai..   I need to have my home dirs shared over some of my servers. I did setup a nfs4 kerberos base Debian jessie, samba 4.1.17 and sernet samba 4.1.3 on these servers.   This works, i can mount without problems.   But because verything is created with the windows user tools, the owner/Group is root. Like this   Server:   ls -al drwxrwx---+  2 root  root 4096 Sep  4 13:17

mdbox index directories: bug?
Hi, I'm using mdbox now (Dovecot 2.2.4), with indexes on a separate disk. Works fine, but the directories for indexes are also present in the storage folder, and are empty. Userdb (sql) returns this: home /var/vmail/domains/somedomain/someuser mail mdbox:~/mdbox:INDEX=/mnt/spool/dovecot/index/somedomain/s/someuser And the created directory structure is:

Make a share owned by a service account available to members of an AD group
No joy. I added winbind to the passwd, shadow, and group lines and it is still not working. I also switched back to ad instead of rid (I deleted the Samba database files in /var/lib/samba and rejoined the domain when I switched), and still the same. If the account exists locally I can authenticate against AD and map the share. No local account and it fails. -Mark

Disabling NFS
Howdy, With 3.1.3 the option was added to disable the builtin Gluster NFS. Does that mean that the following scenario should work: 1. Disable Gluster NFS "gluster volume set <VOLUME> nfs.disable on" 2. Restart the gluster servers for good measure 3. On one of the gluster servers, mount the volume using the gluster fuse client: mkdir /export/users # In /etc/fstab add

upgrade from version 1.0.3 to version 1.0.7
Im working on upgrading to dovecot-1.0.7 from version 1.0.3 which I installed using yum. I backed up my init.d stuff so everything still works. However, when I shutdown my old dovecot version and start the new, I get an empty mailbox when logging into mail. My current config for dovecot.conf on version 1.0.3 has this for my mailbox location:mail_location = mbox:~/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u

Replication and Sieve
Hi, I've got two servers set up for replication, which is working fine - except the sieve scripts. While the first replication, the existing rules have been replicated well. Also the activation/Deactivation seems to work. But Changes to the rules doesn't seem to be transferred. Configuration should be the same as the other server, except for mail_replica dovecot -n: # 2.2.15:
