Require Information
Hi there!
I would like to ask kindly for some further information concerning Rsync
software.
What I am planning to do is to replicate data (database) at certain
intervals.
My first question is, can I do this with Rsync?
To be more specific I have a mysql database at a point and I want this
database to be replicated to a remote side at real-time.
In other words I need to setup a backup

Syncing to multiple servers
Helle everyone,
Let's say we have 3 servers, 2 of them have the latest (stable) version
of rsyncd running (2.6.9)
<Server1> ==> I N T E R N E T ==> <Server2 (rsyncd running)> ==> LAN
==> <Server3 (rsyncd running)>
Suppose I want to send a big file (bigfile.big) from Server1 to both
Server2 and Server3. It would be a good idea to send first from Server1

Force parent directories creation
Hello,
If I have a directory tree in the source machine like the following:
192.168.1.1 => /raid/system/mainfolder/folder1/subfolder/myfile.txt
and the target machine directory tree looks like:
192.168.1.2 => /raid/system/mainfolder/
Is there a way to send myfile.txt to the target machine and force rsync
to create the target directories (/folder1/subfolder) ?

Certificate system
Hi all,
Can anybody inform me wether the "RedHat Certificate System" or
actually a CentOS equivalent is available for CentOS.
Just skimmed on a download site through the RPM's for 5.3 and I couldn't
find it.
According to their pressrelease, it the code should be gpl, allthough I
can't find any rpm for RH, FC or Centos.
It seems that this is one of the few CA-packages for

samba AD trusted certificate for RADIUS server (MS PKI, for example AD CS)
Hi,
We are running a 3 DC samba AD domain, and use 802.1x authentication for
the win10 workstations to access the wired network.
We are facing the issue where, following windows updates, our windows
clients keep changing back the 802.1x settings to the windows default,
namely: to verify the server identity and do computer authentication only.
The latter is no problem, but the first one

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
OK, I actually now feel a bit bad on this. As we did a lot of debugging
without actually finding any solutions my focus went more and more into
direction of code bug somewhere in Samba/Kerberos area.
I found some references that Samba uses an internal specific version of
Heimdal. Though it looks like the Gentoo developers went to disable the
built-in Heimdal implementation if favor of a

I am using DHCP only.

Can't tell about static setup as it's impractical in my networks.

Variables are not expanded in smb.conf when using Samba 4.0.0beta2
Hello,
I'm using Samba 4.0.0beta2 on Debian Wheezy as Active Directory domain
controller. I also use winbind in my /etc/nsswitch.conf so getent
passwd returns domain users.
I've set
template homedir = /home/%U
in my smb.conf file but, instead of substituting %U for username,
getent passwd returns:
HOME\Administrator:*:0:100::/home/%U:/bin/bash

Samba 4 on Production
We're involved in a project that the requirements could be satisfied
with both samba3 and 4. Anyway I am testing what can be done with
Samba4 and after following the tutorial published in the official
wiki, I was able to create my test domain, and join WinXP and Win7
machines to it without a problem.
I still need to test the GPO functionality, and some other stuff, but

Samba4: mounting cifs on Linux client no longer preserves acl's

Hi everyone
Up until recently, mounting a share on a Linux client preserved the
permissions of the files in the share, but now it doesn't.
