Change log(J) to log(J+1) to stop log(0) from occurring in harModel
I think the code is part of the RTAQ package but is not included in it, as I obtained it from https://r-forge.r-project.org/scm/viewvc.php/pkg/RTAQ/R/HAR_model.R?view=markup&root=blotter&sortby=author&pathrev=1028. It is not my code and I make no claim to other's good work, and apologize if I should even be posting it I am not sure, but in the transform function it allows to

comparing columns in a dataframe
hello, I am hoping for some advice regarding comparing variables from 3 versions of a spreadsheet which have been combined into a single dataframe. The aim is to identify which rows have been changed. The dataframe contains 177 rows of data (each cell contains text). 'intersect' produced a file with 35 rows, 'union' a file with 303 rows and 'setdiff' a file with 130

R Package: mmlcr and/or flexmix
Greetings I'm a relatively new R user and I'm trying to build a latent class model. I've used the 'R Site Search' and it appears there's not much dialogue on these packages On mmlcr, I've gotten it working, but not sure if I'm using it correctly. On flexmix, I can only seem to get results for one class. I'm attaching my code below - if anyone

"Point'n'Print" setup problems (2.2.8a & XP sp1)
Hi - I'm having trouble trying to get "Point'n'Print" working. I (think I?) have set it up as per the HOW-TOs but here's what happens... I login as "root" in the "MAXP" domain to the client (gservxp). I use "Network Neighbourhood" to navigate to the server (lambada). I then open up "Printers and Faxes" - just for info, the Add

Fortran runtime error with package cts on CRAN/Mac
Hello, As the author of package cts, I hope somebody on this list can kindly help (perhaps off-list) to resolve the build/check issue with package cts for Mac. The error occurred on Mac machines only: http://cran.r-project.org/web/checks/check_results_cts.html. Here is the error message: At line 10 of file machine.f Fortran runtime error: Range error during floating point read The source

Computations slow in spite of large amounts of RAM.
Hi all, I am a beginner trying to use R to work with large amounts of oceanographic data, and I find that computations can be VERY slow. In particular, computational speed seems to depend strongly on the number and size of the objects that are loaded (when R starts up). The same computations are significantly faster when all but the essential objects are removed. I am running R on a machine

help with knn.impute
Hi I have a dataset from biological data with forty samples whichh relate to four different treatments. Each sample has thousands of values but as usuual contains missing values I want to use knn to imput these missing values. I am doing tthis using knn.impute. Do I need to specify the various groups or can I just use the knn.impute command on the whole dataset together. Also I am setting

Restricted Domain Optimization Problem
Hello, I'm hoping for some help implementing a general optimization problem in R. I'd like to write a program that for a vector of non-negative input values, x, returns a non-negative "normalized" vector y such that sum(y)==1, and y <= maxx (vector of maximum values), and for which sum((x-y)^2) is minimized. Additionally, I'd like to remove (0,minx) from the domain of each

help for cell2nb and queencell in spdep package
Dear Dr. Bivand and R-users, I have a 5 by 5 grid, say, location[1:5,1:5], and I want to know the indices of 8 neighbours of each cell. For example, for location[2,2], its neighbour coordinates are [1,1:3], [2,1], [2,3] and [3,1:3]. Sometimes I also need to remove edge effects (torus = TRUE). I have tried "cell2nb" function in your spdep package. Here's my example: > neigh

data.frame error using sem package
I keep getting this error when I try to use the sem package. I and another person who has successfully used the sem package for similar analysis (fMRI effective connectivity) cannot figure out what is wrong with my code. I would appreciate any suggestions. The error message: Error in data.frame(object$coeff, se, z, 2 * (1 - pnorm(abs(z))), par.code) : arguments imply differing

Using pxelinux mboot.c32 to multiboot Solaris
Hi All, Now that we have multiboot capable pxelinux, thanks to mboot.c32, I decided to try and remove pxegrub from my x86 jumpstart infrastructure since, in theory, pxelinux can now do it all. The problem I'm having is I'm not very sure I'm following Tim's documentation correctly... I'm not 100% what comes after the --- and whether the Sun kernel needs it's arguments

Bayesian estimates for the 1st-order Spatial Autoregressive model
Greetings: I am a relatively new user to R. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with MATLAB's far_g() function. If yes, is there an R equivalent to this? I would like to have the ability to input as my observation vector continuous values. I noticed that there was something close in R, sar_probit_mcmc(), but I can only use a binary vector as my observation vector. If my

Find the three best values in every row

How to pick colums from a ragged array?
I have a large dataset (~1 million rows) of three variables: ID (patient's name), DATE (of appointment) and DIAGNOSIS (given on that date). Patients may have been assigned more than one diagnosis at any one appointment - leading to two rows, same ID and DATE but different DIAGNOSIS. The diagnoses may change between appointments. I want to subset the data in two ways: - define groups

A naive question about permutation tests in the coin package
Dear R helpers, I am trying to understand how to use the independence_test function in the coin package. I think I suffer from a misunderstanding about what the package does. Either that or I do not understand how to use it properly. Specifically, I cannot understand if I can test independence of arbitrary statistics. Take the following example: set.seed(10) d <- data.frame(y = c(rnorm(10,
