RGL package surface plot
I'm completely new at R... I have sinkhole survey data (lat, long, and
elevation) and have been trying to plot a rotatable 3d plot for several
hours... cannot get it right. Examples I see tend to be grid data (one
elevation value per grid cell); however, my data are more random (known
elevations at known (but random) x-y positions). Data format is tab
separated, i.e.:

Kernel smoothing ("ks" package)
Dear R users,
I'm trying to determine local population centers in a region through kernel
smoothing. What I have is population density in each neighborhood, which
can be presented as point density. So in my data set “pop”, I have three
columns for about 1000 neighborhoods: x (x coordinate), y (y coordinate),
and z (population density at xy). I searched R documentations and found
that the

identifying local maxima
Dear R users,
I have created a Loess surface in R, in which x is relative longitude by
miles, y is relative latitude by miles, and z is population density at the
neighborhood level. The purpose is to identify some population centers in
the region. I'm wondering if there is a way to determine the coordinates
(x,y) of each center, so I can know exactly where they are.
Let me use the

Output from while and for loop
Hello,
I am new and am having a hard time getting the proper syntax for output
from loops. I am working on a simulation to generate a null expectation of
bee behavior. Pieces of it work. The part that I am having specific
difficulty is in output of a vector from within the while loop that I am
using. Basically the simulation works as such: I have a starting point
and a neighbor matrix and a

geoR size limit problem
Hi all,
I tried to produce some kriged surfaces with geoR (latest version). The size
of the grid should be around 900 x 650 cells (what I find is not a very big
grid), and the number of points is around 2500. The command krige.conv
stopped after arround 5 min saying it can not allocate a vector with around
1.5 billion units. Sounds reasonable.
Is there a workaround? How would I partition the

Memory limitation in GeoR - Windows or R?
Dear Aaron,
I am really a tool user and not a tool maker (actually an ecologist
doing some biostatistics)... so, I take the liberty of sending a copy of
this e-mail to the r-help list where capable computer persons and true
statisticians may provide more relevant information and also to Paulo
Ribeiro and Peter Diggle, the authors of geoR..
I really feel that your huge matrix cannot be

non-linear trends in kriging model
Hi
I am struggling to fit a non-linear trend using the
likfit function in geoR.
Specifically I want a sigmoidal function, something
like SSfpl in the nls package to fit the trend. But
it seems trend.spatial in geoR only works with lm or
glm type models.
Any ideas how I can specify the model to calculate the
kriging parameters using REML, including the
parameters of a sigmoidal trend function

exporting rast from R to GRASS
Hi, everybody!
i created a imagem by kriging using geoR package. I imported points
from GRASS("zn", after converted to geodata "zn_geo"), the border
"zn_border" and a raster mask. Then i interpolated the points by
kriging and created a raster image. Now, i need export this image back
to GRASS to use it in the module r.mapcalc. I can't do it. I tried use

Kernel density estimate plot for 3-dimensional data
Hi!
I have a problem with Kernel density estimate plot for 3-dimensional data in ks-package.
Here the example:
# load ks, spatstat
# three-dimensional kernel density of B
B <- pp3(runif(300), runif(300), runif(300), box3(c(0,1)))
x <- unclass(B$data)$df
H <- Hpi(x)
fhat <- kde(x, H=H)
plot(fhat)
plot(fhat, axes=FALSE, box=FALSE, drawpoints=TRUE);

Plotting a kriging on a map
Hi list,
Well, this time I’ve a doubt with mapping generation.
I was already able to read and plot shapefiles, plot point on this map. All
this without any problems, but now I want to do something that I think, only
Golden Software Surfer is capable of.
I would like to plot a kriging result on the existing map (map script
below). Well I looked for on the net, but I was not able to be sure of

Help with Kriging
R Experts,
I'm looking for some help with the geoR package. I'm trying to krig
some data without using a global neighborhood. I would like to set my
moving neighborhood to a distance, say 100 meters, where I know my data
is spatially correlated. I have tried the ksline function, but that
only allows my moving neighborhood to be set to a number of data points.
But, since my data

Dear list,
i'm a new R user, so I apologize if the topic is already being addressed
by some other user.
I'm trying to determine if the reproductive success of a species of bird
is related to a list of covariates.
These are the covariates:
? elev: elevation of nest (meters)
? seadist: distance from the sea (meters)
? meanterranova: records of temperature
? minpengS1: records

kriging with geoR package
Hi all,
I have to draw a map of microorganisms repartition in a sample. I use the
"image" function of geoR package to build the map but there are three
problems:
1) the legend is Horizontal (with or without vert.leg=TRUE)
2) I want to plot the position of organisms and level curves of density on
the map but I don't find the script to insert these data on the map.
3)the grey range

Can't find all levels of categorical predictors in output of zeroinfl()
Hello,
I?m using zero-inflated Poisson regression via the zeroinfl() function to
analyze data on seed-set of plants, but for some reason, I don?t seem to be
getting the output for all three levels of my two categorical predictors.
More about my data and model:
My response variable is the number of viable seeds (AVInt), and my two
categorical predictors are elevation (Elev) and Treatment

Indicator Kriging?
Hello All!
I like to do some indicator kriging with R.
So far I used geoR for simple and ordinary kriging.
Does anybody know which package I should use?
Thanks for your help!
Sascha!

kriging in R
Hi, all,
Have anyone used kringing included in R? How is it?
Does it handle anisotropy data well?
How does it compare with Kriging in Arc/Info? or other geostatistics
software customized to do kriging or other geostatistics functions?
I tried Easykriging, a geostatistics tool developed for Matlab. It has
very nice GUI, but it does not provide library which i can call in my programs.

Bayesian Block Kriging?
Hello,
I'm interested in doing Bayesian kriging using R. I see that the
package geoR has a function that will allow one to do this
(krige.bayes). However, my data are not in the form of points, but
rather they are blocks that represent spatial averages (i.e., the number
of fishing hooks per month in a given lat x long square). I am
therefore interested in treating the data as

GeoR model.control - defining covariates at prediction locations
Hi,
Im using geoR and I'm trying to do some predictions, based on an external
trend.
I'm having some problems specifying my model.control, specifically how do I
define my model, and also the source of the covariate data at the prediction
locations?
I am assuming that the covariate data at the prediction locations should be
imported to a geodata object along with the prediction location

issues with krige function
Greetings all,
Ran into a strange problem with the krige function from geoR. The
problem that I am having is that while the krige function seems to
work well, the resulting predicted values are all NAs. Given the size
of the datasets I am working with can't attach it, but I can provide
snippets of the datasets.
