errors appears in my time Series regression fomula
Dear all, I found really difficult with the time series questions, please help me with this monthly airline series! I have run the following r code, and there is an error appeared at the end. The data files was enclosed in the email. I'm sorry the errors message appeared in chinese, but it says "plot.xy(xy.coords(x, y), type = type, ...) : errors in argument has more than 3

rgl.postscript
Hi, I am having an issue when creating a postscript file from RGL window. It seems to cut off some of the axis labels. Here is the code I am using. I created a 3D plot using RGL_0.71 with R 2.5 on Windows XP. z1<-c(5,4,1,4.5,2,3,2,1,1) z2<-c(6,8,7,7.5,5,3.5,4,1,1) z3<-c(3,2,4,7,3,4.5,6,2,3) x1<-seq(1,9) x2<-seq(1,9) x3<-seq(10,18) y1<-seq(8,0) y2<--1*y1

Draw level lines on the surface of a bivariate function
Hello, Is it possible to draw level lines on the surface of a bivariate function? In the following example, to draw surface and levels lines for a multivariate normal law, I use persp, trans3d, contourLines and lines, but if the lines are correctly drawn, some parts of them are, of course, visible even if they are drawn on a non visible "face". Any suggestion to avoid this problem

curvilinear grid
Hello all: A question from a new user. I have data on a geo-referenced curvilinear grid. This is a grid with 75 rows and 51 columns, is not aligned north-south, and the rows and columns are not straight. (And the coordinates are in meters.) I want to make image plots of this data, but where the grid is deformed according to the correct locations of the grid points, instead of coming out

axes3d/bbox3d - axis values not fixed
Hello, I'm using the rgl package and plotting a plot with it. I'd like to have all the axes values auto-hide, but I want to plot a series of characters instead of the values of the measurement for 2 of the axes. So in the end I will have one axis (z actually) behave per normal (auto-hide) and I'd like the other two axes to be custom character vectors that auto-hide. Example: x <-

Help with rgl
Hi, I don't know much about the RGL package, and I have read the documentation and tried some parameters, with no luck... I would like to generate a movie from a 3D object (code below), where the vortex A is closer to the observer, and then the object rotates and the B vortex gets closer. I would like to capture this movie to a file. By the way, I am not being able to insert unicode text

Defining origin for rotation in RGL device
Hi all, How can I tell RGL to set the center for the rotation to the origin of the coordinate system (0,0,0). It seems that the default is to use the center of the display not the origin of the coordinate system. open3d() lines3d(c(0, 1), c(0,0), c(0,0)) lines3d(c(0,0), c(0, 1), c(0,0)) lines3d(c(0,0), c(0,0), c(0, 1)) TIA Mark ??????????????????????????????????????? 3D package in R
Hi all, I am considering writing a 3D visualisation package for R. Purposes: - Visualise 3 dimension data - Manipulate the data or series or any other object with the mouse as in any 3D software (3D Studio Max, Lightwave...) - Eventually display more than just 3D objects. Justification: - It's always interesting to plot data before performing any analysis - Manipulating (rotating,

joining two points in rgl
Hi!! I need to draw a cylinder/tube joining two points. I am trying to make something presentable, I have been able to do it using lines3d. But is it possible to increase the thickness of the lines? The size parameter does not work. Does any one have any suggestions? Thanks ../Murli library(rgl) pts<-structure(list(x = c(-0.975688, -0.975688), y = c(9.258795, -9.258795 ), z = c(-1.8, 1.8)),

How do I connect dots in the RGL package?
Hi all, I just started using the rgl package in R, and I need to know how I connect the dots I created. A simple line from one co?rdinate (x0,y0,z0) to another (x1,y1,z1) will do. I tried using the code rgl.lines, but it doesn't accept lines that don't stem from O (0,0,0). Please help! Thanks! -- View this message in context:

shapes in rgl
Does anyone have a way of producing solid shapes other than spheres in rgl? I am using rgl to produce a simple visualisation of a forest model results using "lollipops". Its just a bit of fun, but as many of the trees are pines I would like to depict their crowns as cones. If there is a solution I need it to work under windows. Here is the example. library(rgl) library(misc3d)

Beginners Question: Make nlm work
Hello, I'm new to this and am trying to teach myself some R by plotting biological data. The growth curve in question is supposed to be fitted to the Verhulst equation, which may be transcribed as follows: f(x)=a/(1+((a-0.008)/0.008)*exp(-(b*x))) - for a known population density (0.008) at t(0). I am trying to rework the example from "An Introduction to R" (p. 72) for my case and

RGL plot : cex and zlim arguments do not work
Dear all, I have a quiet simple problem (shared by a collegue) but no solution at yet. The arguments I use in bbox3d or text3d do not have any effect on the graph. I need to use 'cex' and 'zlim' but It does not work. Maybe my problem could appear trivial but I have spent a lot of time on that. If you have a solution, please let me know! stephane [[alternative HTML version

Math Expression in 3D Plots
Is there anyway to label axes in 3D plots with mathematical expressions? In the code below, I want to replace "delta_yrsed" with what "\Delta \widehat{yrsed}" represents in TeX, but the [xyz]lab parameters of title3d appear to only accept character strings. require("rgl") fn.delta.yrsed <- function(dist, delta.dist,

advice on arguments
I have a general style question about R coding. Suppose I'm writing a function (foo1) that calls other functions (foo2, foo3, ...) which have complicated argument lists (e.g. optim(), plot()), _and_ I may be calling several different functions in the body of foo1. Since foo2 and foo3 have different sets of arguments, I can't just use "..." ; I did write some code a while ago

RGL plot : lighting problem when triangle3d and persp3d are used in the same plot
Dear all, I have tried to plot a triangular matrix with the function persp3d(rgl). for example z=rbind(c(1,NA,NA,NA),c(5,3,NA,NA),c(4,2,9,NA),c(8,6,5,11)) x=1:4 y=1:4 persp3d(x,y,z,color="gray") The two extreme points are not plotted (value=1 and value=10). It seems because the half of the matrix have 'NA' and perp3d need planar quadrilateral face. So I decided to use the

Drawing a line with misc3d
Hi the list, I would like to draw some lines with misc3d. I find a lot of tools to draw surfaces, but nothing for simple line... Is it possible? Note that I know that it is possible to draw lines with rgl (using lines3d), but I need to do it with misc3d to export the drawing in .asy format. Any solution? Christophe

aov() and anova() making faulty F-tests
Dear useRs, I've just encountered a serious problem involving the F-test being carried out in aov() and anova(). In the provided example, aov() is not making the correct F-test for an hypothesis involving the expected mean square (EMS) of a factor divided by the EMS of another factor (i.e., instead of the error EMS). Here is the example: Expected Mean Square

rgl package: color of the axes
Hej, When plotting triangles with rgl.triangles and setting the axes afterwards with decorate3d(aspect=TRUE), the axes get the color used for the last triangle plotted. Example: rgl.triangles(c(1,2,3),c(1,2,5),c(1,3,2),col="#55FF55") decorate3d(aspect=TRUE) Using decorate3d(aspect=TRUE,col="#000000") or decorate3d(aspect=TRUE,color="#000000") does not help,
