two questions about PLOT
here ,I want to plot two lines in one figure. But I have two problems
1) how to move one of the y-axis to be the right ? I tried to the
command"axis(2)",But I failed.
2) how to add the axis information correctly.Since I have use the cmommand
"axis(1,at=1:6,labels=gradeinfo$gradenam)"
but it seems that the correct information that I want is superposition
with the old axis

how to modify the tickment of x-axis
hi
I plot a series of observation data every minutes in a day as the
attachment below
plot(wnd,type='l',lty=1,col='red',lwd=1,xlab=xxlab,ylab=yylab,ylim=YY)
In the figure, the x-axis tickment is the number of data How can I change
it
fore example 1h 2h 3h 4h and so on ?

how to add the sample number in the hist figure
hi,R-users:
Now I plot some data with the name(aveobsdata) in column , How can I add
the
some number(e,g. the sample number) in each of the column?
plot(aveobsdata,type='h',lwd=line_width,col=line_col,main=titleinfo,xlab=xxlab,ylab=yylab,xaxt

Packet loss with htb+sfq+l7filter
Hi all!
I''m trying to shape traffic in a dorm''s network (4 mbit symmetrical
internet link, about 200 computers, heavy p2p usage). The router is a
p4xeon running linux 2.6.9 with the qnet patches
(http://kem.p.lodz.pl/~peter/qnet/). When I activate ip_forward I get
>20% packet loss and a lot of duplicates. Any ideas? I attach my shaping
script.
Thank you very much in advance,

Interesting oopses...
OK - this is starting to get frustrating... Are there any known issues
with 2.6.9 and traffic shaping? I am using 2.6.9 with geoip 20041115,
and get odd oopses. The following script oopses my box:

#!/bin/sh -x

Plotting w/multiple y-axes?
How do I plot using multiple(2) y-axes?
I have two series that use the same x-data, but have very different scales.
Appreciate any feedback,

Different y-axes
Hi All,
I have checked everything I could find abot graphics, but still cannot
solve the problem.
Are there any ways to make a graph that plots two lines and two
different y-axes, each of them has a scale that is related to the
respective line. For example, y1 has a range 1:50 and y1 ranges 0:1. The
x-axe is the same for both.
Thank you in advance.

Second axis in a plot
Hi to all,
First of all, I prefer to tell that I am a R-newbie,
so I apologize if this is a silly question (I have
tried looking in the manuals, but without luck).
I have two variables, y and z, that I want to plot
against x in the same plot. I have done this before,
using points() after plot(). But now the problem is
that y and z are in different units of measurement,
and their ranges are very

adding percentage secondary y-axis
Thank you very much peter.
It worked out nicely.
I have additional question. How can I get Y-axis on log-scale?
Thank you very much in Advance,
Eliza

r: plots
hi all
i have another probably simple question.
I have three variables say x, y and z. x and y are quite large and z is
relative small.
how can one plot the three variables on the same graph with two separate
axis?
(one for x and y and the other for z)
e.g.
x<-c(101,110,150,167,120)
y<-c(120,135,175,95,200)
z<-c(0.001, 0.15, 0.6, 0.8, 1)

adding percentage secondary y-axis
Hi
It is usually not recommended but if you insist
maybe
library(plotrix)
?twoord.plot
twoord.plot(lx=D[,1],ly=D[,2], rx=D[,1], ry=D[,3])
or
plot.yy(x=D[,1],yright=D[,3], yleft=D[,2])
which allows only one x axis (see below).
Cheers
Petr
plot.yy <- function (x, yright, yleft, yleftlim = NULL, yrightlim = NULL,
xlab = NULL, yylab = list(NA, NA), pch = c(1, 2),
col = c(1,2), linky

help with plot layout
It takes a lot of sweat to generate a composite plot with R ... sigh.
I though I was almost done when I met the umpteenth hurdle. I cannot place a nice title on the 2nd plot (raw signal)
on the layout. I do not have control on where either the "main" option of "plot" function, or "title", place the text
string which keeps dysplaying chopped from above. I also tried

logwatch
Hi All,
I need to be able to make sense from my shorewall logs.
I have installed logwatch and it is mailing me reports but the level of
detail is just not there. I have set the detail variable to High=10 but
I get entries only from the DNS service about denied updates. What am I
getting wrong? Tom, will you be kind enough to send me your logwatch
config files?
Thanks in advance.

complex plots using layout()
Dear r-help,
I am trying to plot several scatter plots with marginal histograms on
one page. Ideally, a page is equally divided into 4 figure regions.
Within each figure region, a scatter plot with marginal histograms will
be plotted.
I followed Dr. Paul Murrell's code released online to successfully plot
the scatter plot with marginal histograms. The code applies "layout()"

in order to save space for a publication, it would be nice to have a
combined scatter and density plot similar to what is shows on

I wonder if anybody perhaps has already developed code for this and is
willing to share. This is the reproducible code for the histogram

multiple plots using summary in rms package
Dear All,
I wonder if someone can point me in the right direction here. I'm working
with the rms library, R 2.9.2 under Windows XP.
I'm trying to arrange two plots side by side for a colleague. mfrow or
mfcol do not seem to work, however, so I am obviously missing something
important. I know that there have been changes in the graphics from Design
to rms, but am just not sure where to
