tcktk problem with custom R 2.15.0 build on RHEL5
Hi all,
Please bear with me because I'm not all that familiar with R. I manage a
research cluster that's running Red Hat 5.6 (64-bit), and we recently
installed version 2.15.0 of R for some users. Here's how we built it:
./configure --prefix=/opt/shared/R/2.15.0 --with-tcltk --with-system-zlib --with-system-bzlib --with-system-pcre --with-lapack --enable-R-shlib
When we ran

RJDBC vs RMySQL vs ???
I am running a simple SQL SELECT statement that involvs 50k + data
points using R and the RJDBC interface. I am facing very slow response
times in both the RGUI and the R console. When running this SQL
statement directly in a SQL client I have processing times that are a
lot lot faster (which means that the SQL statement itself is not the
problem).
Did any of you compare RJDBC vs RMySQL or is

fit data with y = x^-1
Dear list,
I am getting weired with fitting data with a 1/x-polynomial. Suggest I have
the following data:
x <- c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7)
y <- c(100,20,4,2,1,.3,.1)
I may fit this with a linear model
fit1 = lm(y ~ I(x))
Getting plot out of this model I applied
library(polynom)
pol1 = polynomial(fit1$coefficients)
f1 = as.function(pol1)
plot(x,y)
lines(x, f1(x), col = 2)
Clearly, this model

Is it normal printer objects in the samba db?
I have about 400 users and 400 computers. But my samba db has about
40000 objects. I think it is so much.
I have watched a lot of printer objects associated with the computer
name on which they are attached.
Is it normal ? Can I delete all of these printer objects ?
Look at this:
ldbsearch -H
/usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb.d/DC\=DTCF\,DC\=ETECSA\,DC\=CU.ldb
'cn=*Laser*' dn

openssh-2.3.0p1 on HP-UX 11.00 went mad
Hi,
I had a strange effect: I tried to debug a program with GNU debugger
when very strange messages appeared on the screen. Like:
(gdb) Undefined command: "3". Try "help".
(gdb) Undefined command: "". Try "help".
(gdb) Undefined command: "". Try "help".
(gdb) Undefined command: "". Try "help".
I found out that

Font size in geom_dl (using ggplot2)
Hey everyone,
I am an R-newby... so sorry for bothering you with simple-to-solve
questions;) I have the following issue: trying to add labels to my
scatterplots (with geom_dl in ggplot2). Everything works fine, but after
checking every resource I do not find a way to change the font size of my
labels. I tried size, cex, fontsize at every position... but it always stays
the same.
