Problem with & question about \preformatted in .Rd
Hi,
The "\preformatted" environment in Rd files doesn't seem to escape
long sequences of backslashes properly when converted to pdf (LaTeX)
documentation. I'm running R version 2.14 (from subversion, revision
57751) on Linux (RHEL). Here's an example from the command line:

Rd - \preformatted, \section and LaTeX problem
Hi,
I have found an unwanted feature in the Rd to LaTeX convertion
regarding \preformatted inside a \section. I have created an Rd
example below, which generates an error in the following 'R CMD check'
step
* creating aroma.affine-manual.tex ... OK
* checking aroma.affine-manual.tex ... ERROR
LaTeX errors when creating DVI version.
This typically indicates Rd problems.

\preformatted and $
Hi,
I have been developing a package in R and have been working on
documentation. I have a \details function that contains the following:
\details{
some text
\preformatted{
[my-section]
user = apv
host = 127.0.0.1
}
}
When I run R CMD check I get an error while checking the manual. If I
remove:
\preformatted{
[my-section]
user = apv
host = 127.0.0.1
}
and replace it with
[my-section]

preformatted and '#' in manual pages
Dear All,
I have the following in a .Rd file:

human readable (not binary) format. The format itself is like
the following:
\preformatted{

vertex2name [optionalWeight]
vertex3name [optionalWeight]
}
Here, the first vertex of an edge is preceded with a pound sign
...
and it is fine with R 2.9.2, but fails on R-devel, when building the

Summary of mails concerning R help system
Hi,
here's a short summary of all the mails I got concerning the R help
system during the last days ... I really want to have all open
questions in this list, so if I forgot your most important topic
please forgive (and remind me again) ... it's probably only because of
lack of time such that I had to compile the list in a hurry ...
Ok, here we go:

Use preformatted blocks in Broadcom wiki page
Dear all,
On the Broadcom wiki page, I've moved the formatted codes from tables
into preformatted blocks. This makes the raw wiki code easier to read,
and is consistent with other wiki pages that I've come across during
translation.
Should the maintainers of that page find such a change undesirable,
please feel free to revert.

Rd.sty question: LaTeX expert needed
The Rd.sty LaTeX package is used when building the R manuals, and by the
LaTeX pages produced from the man pages.
I have tracked down some problems G?bor Cs?rdi was having recently (see
"Re: [R] preformatted and '#' in manual pages" in R-help) to a LaTeX
problem, and am trying to work out how to fix it.
Specifically, the .Rd file he was using had a structure like

ActiveState Perl, cygwin and R (was: cygwin tar?)
Hello!
I have just read mails in thread
<http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/devel/04a/0583.html>
about problems with Cygwin and Rtools. I had the same problems and kept
just the newest cygwin1.dll and things seem OK now. However I
currently hit the problem with Perl (I have ActiveState and Cygwin Perl
installed). When I tried to work with 'Rdconv' in Cygwin I get the following:

Build R Packages (man)
Hi there,
I'm trying to get the manual for an R package (that I'm creating) to
work...
Firstly, I created the *.Rd files (by following the instructions in
"Writing R Extensions" and using prompt() in R, then edit the *.Rd
files. I then copy them into the "pkg/man" directory as suggested by the
manual. However when I load the library (successfully) in R, I cannot

makign help files by hand
Can someone tell me how to make up (eg) a library's html help files
by hand? I think I ought to be able to use RCMD Rdconv for this but
(R-2.10.0, MS-win) when I type (in a dos session) "rdcmd rdconv
--help" I get a message to the effect that a perl script rdconv can't
be opened.
Can I do this from within R itself? And if so, how (in particular,
what is the target file to

Rdconv --type=Ssgm drops singleton keywords (PR#9051)
If an Rd file has only one keyword entry then
the Splus sgm file made with Rdconv --type=SSgm
has no keyword entries.
To reproduce:
Use prompt() to make a skeleton help file
R> f<-function(x)log(1+x)-log1p(x)
R> prompt(f)
Created file named 'f.Rd'.
Edit the file and move it to the appropriate directory.
R> q()
It has 2 \keyword entries in it

Compile Rd file
Hello,
I am trying to compile a file .Rd into .html using R CMD Rdconv -t=html
/file.rd/>/file.html./ It seems that the process works ok but instead of
having for example loo.cv(NMRTools) at the top of the html file I have
loo.cv{unknown}. Any ideas on how to solve this?
Best,
Dani

I've tried to convert MASS.Rd, for instance:
R CMD Rdconv -t txt MASS.Rd -o MASS.txt 2>MASS.log
Comp was thinking for a long, about 30s on Linux 600MHz/128M,
but after that R didn't produce the result MASS.txt file, but

Trailing spaces in POD files
IMHO trailing spaces should be permitted in POD files. Currently
they are prevented by the git upload hook.
The reason to allow them in POD files is because indentation is
used to indicate blocks of preformatted text (the equivalent of
<pre> in HTML). To keep code together in the output if it
contains blank lines you have to add a line containing a single
space.
For an example of where
