make check failure, internet.Rout.fail, Error in strsplit
I'm trying to build R on RedHat EL4. The compile went fine, but a make check ran into a problem and produced a file "internet.Rout.fail". Judging by the last part of that file, it was trying to run an R routine called "httpget" to retrieve the URL http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/datasets/csb/ch11b.dat. The precise error it encountered was: Error in

help diagnosing ftp problem
Dear R-help, I've been compiling R from source on our Linux boxes for quite a while. One thing that bugs me is that I always get an error when make check-all where it choked up running tests/internet.R. That wasn't a big deal, as I can run install.packages()/update.packages() fine, and that's all I use the 'net connection for. The problem is that it takes a _long_ time to fail

(no answer)
I wish to perform brain surgery this afternoon at 4pm and don't know where to start. My background is the history of great statistician sports legends but I am willing to learn. I know there are courses and numerous books on brain surgery but I don't have the time for those. Please direct me to the appropriate HowTos, and be on standby for solving any problem I may encounter while

R 1.8.0 Windows-source compilation-internet.Rout.save
Let me firstly thank the R Core Team for their tremendous efforts in providing R 1.8.0. My following comment should therefore be understood as an "fyi-only". I source compiled R 1.8.0 for windows with ATLAS (source compiled, too). Everything works fine and R is running flawlessly! However, running "make check" stops during processing "internet.R". I checked the

OT: Capture Asterisk traffic
I want to capture all my Asterisk traffic (including RTP) and then analyse it. My plan was to use tcpdump and then analyse with Wireshark. The following works: tcpdump -i eth0 -s 0 -w /tmp/tcpdump.1 But I want to be a bit more selective: tcpdump -C 100 -W 10 -w /tmp/tcpdump -i eth1 -s 0 udp and dst port >= 5060 This doesn't capture the RTP traffic. Could anyone advise what I'm

yum & proxy
Hi, I've just installed a server with CentOS 4. This server is behind a proxy. I'm trying to import the RPM key. Already set http_proxy variable to: export "http_proxy"=http://proxy.xpto.com:3128 Truth is, command # rpm --import http://mirror.centos.org/centos/RPM-GPG-KEY-CentOS-4 just leaves me hanged. Any ideas ? Warm Regards, M?rio Gamito

How to get rid of HTTP-Proxy environment variable in domUs!
Hi All, I have been trying to solve the issue of Xen-based Virtual Machines (as I described earlier); I have the problem of ethernet ports locked to a single Mac address in my lab--hence VM''s can''t communicate using bridging other than their own dom0. To further test/confirm, yesterday I took my laptop at home and connected to my Home-Hub (which issues DHCP based IPs); I
