Error in Rd[[which]] : subscript out of bounds
Hi-- I googled the above error and found previous postings about this error on the list. I was having a little difficulty implementing the advice though. The suggestions were to use: traceback() and checkRd(). I'm using R in the directory in which the .Rd file with the problem is located, but I'm having difficulty figuring out how to proceed. I've looked through the help pages for

R CMD check: Error in .C
Function/file names are hypothetical. Say I have written myfunction.R, which calls myfunction.c via .C("myfunction", ...). I've compiled successfully myfunction.c via R CMD SHLIB myfunction.c in the terminal. Then, in the R console: dyn.load("myfunction.so") source("myfunction.R") test <- myfunction() # works fine So everything is in order, myfunction works

pass-by-reference
I'm working with a large object that I want to modify slightly in a function. Pass-by-reference would make a lot of sense, but I don't know how to do it. I've searched this archive and thought that I can do something like f <- function(x) { v1 <- list(a=x,b=3) g(x) v1 } g <- function(x) { frame <- parent.frame() assign("v1",list(a=x,b=x),frame) } f(4)

summary of lme4.0 model in package
Dear all, My package has Depends: lme4.0 in the DESCRIPTION. I need to extract the fixed effect of a model and their standard errors. I use coef(summary(model)) inside a function to do that. Model is the output of a call to glmer() from the lme4.0 package. coef(summary(model)) throws an error: $ operator is invalid for atomic vectors I have tracked it down to a problem with summary(model)

accessing unexported functions
I need to access some internal function of a package temporarily. These functions normally that are not visible outside of the package. I know the MyPackage:::myfunction mechanism, but that does not solve my problem. Instead, I need to add the "internal namespace" of the package to the search path, then I can run a few commands with these functions available, and then the internal

aggregate(as.formula("some formula"), data, function) error when called from in a function
I'm having a problem with aggregate.formula when I call it in a function and the function is converted from a string in the funtion I think my problem may also only occur when the left hand side of the formula is cbind(...) Here is example code that generates a dataset and then the error. The first function "agg2" fails > agg2(FALSE) do agg 2 Error in m[[2L]][[2L]] : object

Avoid package in build process when not supported on OS
Dear all, I am currently working on a package which involves some simulation where no current simulation run depends on a previous simulation run. That is why I decided to parallelize the computation using the doMC package (which exists only for unix-like OS). I can create a package without any R CMD check and R CMD build errors on my computers (Ubuntu Linux 32bit & 64 bit). The problem

Rd problems when converting DVI version
Hi Running R v2.0 on SuSe linux 8.2. I'm trying to build a package (which built perfectly on Windows...) on Linux, and I ran: R CMD check mypackage I got: * checking mypackage-maual.tex ... Hi, I have a trouble trying to use \href in a rd doc. Rd and document formatting
I am trying to compose some documentation for a package I hope to release soon. However when I do the following: R CMD Rd2dvi --pdf mypackage.Rd I get two mainly blank pages prepended to the top of the document - the only text on either (at the top of the first page) is as follows: hyperindex, colorlinks, pagebackref, linktocpage, plainpages=false, linkcolor=Blue

trace an Rd conversion error in R cmd check
Hi All, Apologies if this is a very naive question. Is there a way to see the particular Rd file being processed right before a warning/error occurs? As far as I can tell, all my .Rd files use have names and titles and they are unique between Rd files (sometimes in a file I use something like \name{foo} \title{Foo}). I seem to be able to convert files to latex using: R CMD Rdconv --type=latex

Building latest version of package
Hi I have a package which was built using R 1.9.1 and everything worked fine. I recently upgraded to R 2.0.1 and tried to re-install my package - and I got: Error in library(mypackage) : 'mypackage' is not a valid package -- installed < 2.0.0? So I tried rebuilding it using my new version of R: R CMD BUILD --binary mypackage hhc: not found cp: cannot stat `mypackage.chm': No

Example input data with example output using relative pathway in vignette of R package?
I'm putting together an R package. I would like to show example code in the vignette, where example data files (included in the package) are used to generate an (example) output file. I read about using example data in Hadley Wickham's post ( http://r-pkgs.had.co.nz/data.html), and believe I should keep my example data as raw data, as it must be parsed to generate the output. So, I
