Example input data with example output using relative pathway in vignette of R package?
I'm putting together an R package. I would like to show example code in the vignette, where example data files (included in the package) are used to generate an (example) output file. I read about using example data in Hadley Wickham's post ( http://r-pkgs.had.co.nz/data.html), and believe I should keep my example data as raw data, as it must be parsed to generate the output. So, I

vignettes present in 2 folders or won't work
Dear all, I am struggling with an issue related to static vignettes: they work, but only when present in double in the tarball -- in the folder inst/doc and vignettes; see below for details. Details: I am pre-compiling heavy vignettes thanks to the vignette builder R.rsp. So basically, I have PDF files which I want the package to use as Vignettes. For this, I have the following in my

problem with exclude
I've tried all of the permutations of exclude I can think of, so presumably I have some fundamental misunderstanding. The goal here is to exclude the file tv11.html in the ftp directory. rsync -avvvv -n --verbose --one-file-system -exclude='ftp/tv1.html' /usr/local/src /Media/sata/usr/local > /tmp/rsync (Server) Protocol versions: remote=30, negotiated=30 cmd=xclude=ftp/tv1.html

I received the following email note re: the vcdExtra package > A vcd update has shown that packages TIMP and vcdExtra are not > declaring their dependence on colorspace/MASS: see > > http://cran.r-project.org/web/checks/check_results_vcdExtra.html But, I can't see what to do to avoid this, nor understand what has changed in R devel. Sure enough, CRAN now reports errors in

Creating a vignette which depends on a non-distributable file
Dear all, I am writing a vignette that requires a file which I am not allowed to distribute, but which the user can easily download manually. Moreover, it is not possible to download this file automatically from R: downloading requires a (free) registration that seems to work only through a browser. (I'm talking here about the MSigDB from the Broad Institute,

[R-pkgs] vcdExtra 0.5-0 is released to CRAN
I'm pleased to announce the release of the vcdExtra package, v. 0.5-0 from R-Forge to CRAN, on its way to a CRAN server near you. vcdExtra was originally designed to serve as a sandbox for introducing extensions of mosaic plots and other visualizations for categorical data, particularly those that apply to (poisson surrogate) loglinear models fitted using glm() and related, generalized

Vignette using parallel's makeCluster function has trouble building on Windows 7
Hi, all-- I've been working on a doParallel package to provide a foreach parallel backend for the new parallel package, but I am having trouble building the vignette. On my system, if I use the following minimal vignette (call it buggyVignette.Rnw): \documentclass[a4paper]{article} \title{Sweave Example 1} \author{Rich Calaway} \begin{document} \maketitle In this example

Noted Duncan and TRUE... I cannot do more immediately unfortunately, that is always the issue of asking a last minute panic attack question before teaching a course involving the package... I do have /doc in my .Rbuildignore for reasons I can no longer remember... I will dig and create a MRE/reprex. The students will download heavy packages, but they probably won't notice. *Apologies* In the

You are doing a lot of things that are non-standard, so I doubt if anyone is going to be able to help you without access to a simple reproducible example of a package that does what you do. Try to cut out as much as you can to make it minimal. For example, devtools::document() (indeed, most of your code) is probably irrelevant to your problem with vignettes, but things like your

exploratory analysis of large categorical datasets
Dear List, I am looking to perform exploratory analyses of two (relatively) large datasets of categorical data. The first one is a binary 80x100 matrix, in the form: matrix(sample(c(0,1),25,replace=TRUE), nrow = 5, ncol=5, dimnames = list(c( "group1", "group2","group3", "group4","group5"), c("V.1", "V.2", "V.3",

extracting characteristics of datasets from data()
I can use data() to find the available datasets in a package, but I'd like to extract and display some additional information for each dataset than what is provided by data(), e.g., class() and dim() for datasets for which these are available. I'm stuck on using using lapply properly with objects, rather than the names of objects that I get from data() Example: > DS <-

Changing Variable Names In VCD
Hello: What is the most efficient way to change the plotted variable names in mosaic plots in the vcd package? Should one do a separate contingency table first, change the dimension names there and then pass that to mosaic? Or is there a way to do it simply within mosaic. I was thinking something like: mosaic(~var1+var2, labelling_args=list(varnames=c('newvar1', 'newvar2')) Simon
