calling java from R and using java time series double precision array
I haven't had time to try using R for over a year, but have a colleage who
wants to.
We work with time series and our current version of our calendar-time
subroutines in
java converts both directions between linear time and calendar.
We have used calendar time since year 1965 starting out then with Fortran.
Calendar time can be CnYrMoDa | CnYrMoDaHr | CnYrMoDaHrMn | CnYrMoDaHrMnSc

rJava question
After some trial and error I figured out how to pass matrices from R to java
and back
using rJava, but this method is not documented and I wonder if there is a
better way?
Anyway, here is what I found works:
(m = matrix(as.double(1:12),3,4))
[shows m as you would expect]
jtest <- .jnew("JTest")
(v <- .jcall(jtest, '[[D], 'myfunc', .jarray(m), evalArray=FALSE))
[shows

Using JRI and Java 1.6 on MAC OS X
Dear R-Help,
I am trying to get JRI (the rJava interface allowing Java to connect
to R) to work. I was able to run it a week ago when I was doing some
testing using Java 1.5. However, I am developing a GUI application
using some of the new Java 1.6 features and I just can't get JRI to
work with this setup.
Here is what I get:
Cannot find JRI native library!
Please make sure that the JRI

How to call Java main method using rJava package?
Hi,
I am trying to integrate my Java program with R using rJava package. I want
to execute the whole Java program from R. The main() method in my Java code
calls all the other defined methods. So, I guess I have to call the main()
method in .jcall.
An example Java code:
*class A {
public static int mySum(int x, int y) {
return x+y;
}
public static void

Help with talking to R from Java (on Window)
Hi - I read through RServe page carefully and it turns out that it's not recommended to use RServe on windows. I have different applications that are calling R to do their own things at the same time. So architecture like R(D)COM or RServe is preferred where I can create a dedicated process for a single application. However, if I have to go with R(D)COM from Java, I'd have to find Java

JRI API: sourcing from Java String
Hi all,
I have been using 'source(filename)' to load R code from a file
object. However, now I have a special case where I don't have a file
since I am loading an R script from a Jar file. I would like to avoid
creating temporary files. Is there a way to use the 'source' command
with a Java String? Are there any other, better ways to do that?

R & Java
Hey guys,
I'm a (Java) integration architect.
We are currently stuck with SAS but I'd be happy to switch that to R! (of
course ;-).
Now, a big argument for the latter, is that we can integrate it seamlessly
with all our existing (java) apps.
Therefore: has anyone heard of a java API (like SAS has it's Java API for
enterprise integration) or a Service we can call (e.g. a web service,

RJava question(class not found with rJava's vm, though found with alternate vm)
Not sure if this the right place, but I can't seem to subscribe to the rJava
mailing list. Sorry for the noise.
I have a jar file in the CLASSPATH variable. On running .jinit and checking
.jclassPath, i can see the jar file containing the class. Yet when trying to
instantaite the class, i get a class not found error.
Now If if, create my own vm (see below), and then run .jinit (which will

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
I am not a Mac user, but I do use Linux and I would recommend not running R with sudo unless you are an admin ninja. That defensive practice would render the answer to your question moot.
It is possible that your problem may have started with inappropriate use of sudo in configuring java, but configuring Java is not on-topic here.

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Hi!
I?m on macOS 10.13.3 and just installed the new Java 10 using Homebrew Cask. I also have installed R with Homebrew. Everything seems to work fine, however I just get different outputs if I run sudo R CMD javareconf or R CMD javareconf. With sudo I get pointed to Java 9 and without sudo I get pointed to Java 10. I really don?t know why.
Without sudo:
$ R CMD javareconf

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Hi Jeff!!
I really don?t know if running R CMD javareconf with sudo has posed a problem here, now or in the past. What I know is sometimes it?s the only way to really config it, if I don?t run with sudo, in the end it asks me if I want to overwrite the configuration from root
