Problem building R-2.13 r54645 on Windows
I am building R-2.13 r54645 from source as described here: http://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-admin.html#Building-from-source The "make all recommended" command ends as follows on both 32 and 64-bit Windows (Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise): gcc -std=gnu99 -I../../include -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -O3 -Wall -pedantic -c

problem building R 2.12.1 64-bit on Windows 7
Hello, I am stuck trying to build 64-bit R 2.12.1 on Windows 7, hopefully the problem is obvious and someone can point out what I'm missing. Well into the "make all recommended" process, I get an error: make[4]: *** [Rzlib.dll] Error 4 (A longer report on the error in the build print is below - there is also help output from sed that I have included but don't know if it is

Building R on Windows: mkdir of Rtools creates directories with read-only permissions [WEIRD]
This is is an issue that bugged me for a while. I encountered a year ago (April 2012) when I first tried to build R from source on Windows. I never figured out what the solution is or if I'm doing something wrong myself (but I have found a tedious workaround). I'm still on the same Windows 7 Ultimate machine with NTFS, but I now made sure I started from scratch so I have a completely

R-2.2.1 doesn't compile under cygwin/Win2000
Hello, I've just downloaded the R-2.2.1 source and I'm trying to compile it under cygwin (1.5.19-4). The configure script runs ok, but make generates the following error after a while: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- al/include -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -D__NO_MATH_INLINES -g -O2 -c zutil.c -o zutil.o rm -f libz.a ar cr libz.a adler32.o

download.file() on ftp URL fails in windows with default download method
We were also able to reproduce the issue on Windows Server 2012. If there's anything we can do to help please let me know; Elliot Waingold (CC'd here) can provide access to the VM we used for testing if that's of any help. # David Smith -- David M Smith <davidsmi at microsoft.com> R Community Lead, Revolution Analytics (a Microsoft company)? require(..., quietly=TRUE) does not suppress warning
Well, I'm getting a warning (not an error) when the package doesn't exist. I interpreted "most often" to mean that suppressing warnings/errors is why you'd most often use this argument, as most packages don't emit startup messages. And technically there isn't a problem with attaching the package, since we don't even try to attach packages that don't exist.

R CMD build looking for texi2dvi in the wrong place (R-devel)
R CMD build fails with recent R-devel because it is looking for texi2dvi in /usr/local/bin, but on this system, MacTex has installed it in /usr/bin. $ R CMD build IRanges * checking for file 'IRanges/DESCRIPTION' ... example fails during R CMD CHECK but works interactively?
Thank you Dan but it isn't my tests that are failing (all of them pass without problem) but one of the examples from the inst/examples directory. I did try, however, to start R with the environmental variables as you suggest but it had no effect on my tests. Compiling R on Windows XP - Rgui crashes yet Rterm works
Hello. I am trying to build R on Windows. It appears that my build passes the various "make checks" (unless I missed some error) and running Rterm seems to work fine whereas Rgui has an immediate error stating " AppName: rgui.exe AppVer: 2.150.58871.0 ModName: rzlib.dll ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0000a9e5 The taskbar still works, but the console window has nothing in it, and
