[PATCH nbdkit] Add Tcl plugin, for writing plugins in Tcl.
This lets you write simple plugins in Tcl. All the basic features of nbdkit are supported, but serious Tcl users will probably want to enhance the plugin further. Unfortunately Tcl as a language is not very well suited to handling binary data. It prefers to store binary data in UCS-2 strings, meaning that every second byte is wasted. Also there appears to be no way to replace part of such a

Problem installing R Commander plugin...
Hi ho folks: I'm running the indicated version of R on Hardy Heron Ubuntu. (Yes, I am quite aware that it is considered old news but then I don't run the "latest and greatest" computer gear. I've tried both Gnome and KDE editions of Ubuntu Lynx and even a current run of Fedora. I find Heron simply works better on my machine.) When I try to install RcmdrPlugin.PT most of

phyloclim could not be installed in linux - problems on tkrplot dependence
Dear R-helpers, Christoph (author of phyloclim) and Luke (author of tkrplot), I would like to get your helps on installing of phyloclim in Ubuntu linux. It seems a package named 'tkrplot' could not be installed at firstly, then packages depends on it could not be installed latter. As I have tested, installation of phyloclim works smoothly in Mac. I attempted to install these packages in

Change in the Tcl/Tk loading in R 2.7.0 (under Unix/Mac OS X)?
Hello, Up to R 2.6.2, I used to start Tcl *without Tk* (I need only Tcl for some part of my work, like a socket server written in Tcl only, for instance) with this code under Mac OS X (particularly on this system, because I don't want to start X11 just to use Tcl code, which is required for Tk!): > Sys.unsetenv("DISPLAY") > library(tcltk) I got then the message

Compiling Tcl extension C Code for an R package
Dear R Community, I'm working on an R package that needs resizing of images. I try to keep dependencies of Tcl packages as little as possible, so I implemented the Image Scaling procedure in C as a Tcl extension found here http://wiki.tcl.tk/25685 . Here a temporary download link of the slightly modified source http://www.waddell.ch/RnavGraph/imagescale_adrian_85.c The file works with the

CRAN Check warnings with GCC 8.1
Some time ago I (and some other CRAN package maintainers) got an email from Brian Ripley (copied below) regarding compiler warnings under gcc 8.1. In my case this concerns package PropClust (https://CRAN.R-project.org/package=PropClust). The check with gcc 8.1 (https://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/bdr/gcc8/PropClust.out) produced a warning about an uninitialized variable. I cannot reproduce the warning

sharing experience - installing R Spatial Views
Hi Guys, I would like to share my experience when installing the Spatial views packages for R. I could not install 32 packages which are parts of the Spatial views, and I use google-search and search to solve ALL those problems for about 2 days. I hope maybe somebody would benefit from my experience. I admitted that I do not have excellent programming skills at all. So, perhaps some of

Installation woes for rattle (and other packages)
Yesterday I wanted to try rattle on Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty. I had (and still have) it running (though it complains on startup a bit -- I'll look into that later) on a different bootup on the same machine with 8.04 Hardy. I got an error that libglade cannot be found, and various attempts to get glade support failed. I removed and reinstalled R -- same problem. To avoid the issue of local setup
