R-beta 2004-04-07 build failed on AIX
I thought I'd give this another shot before the official release. I tried building R-beta_2004-04-07 on the AIX system that I have access to, and it seemed to failed at lazy-loading survival. I'd very much appreciate any pointer on what to try or look for next. 1. I set OBJECT_MODE to 64 for building 64-bit binary. 2. I edited config.site with the following: CC="xlc_r"

Rserve and creating a list of lists
Hello, I have some code which generates lattice objects. The function recieves serialized forms of the lattice objects which it then unserializes and then adds to an ArrayList<REXP>. REXPRaw rser = new REXPRaw( target ); //target contains the raw serialized forms of lattice objects rconn.assign("temp",rser); REXP ret =

Unable to install Cairo package
Hello: I'm running R 2.7.1 in Antix (Mepis kernel but heavily debian based). I have installed libcairo2 (1.6.4-6.1). I tried installing the Cairo package since I'm interested in generating some SVG graphs, and I got the following message: Only partial output (lines with no): .... checking if R was compiled with the RConn patch... no checking cairo.h usability... yes checking cairo.h

long long on 32-bit machines
Hi all, Does anyone happen to know if there are *any* 32-bit architectures (on which Linux runs) for which the ABI for a "long long" is different from passing two "longs" in the appropriate order, i.e. (hi,lo) for bigendian or (lo,hi) for littleendian? I'd like to switch klibc to use the 64-bit file ABI thoughout, but it's a considerable porting effort, and

I am encountering a make error on an AIX 5.2 with R-2.3.0 and R-patched_2006-05-10 after successfully configuring them using gcc-4.1.0, gnu make, and the following configure options CC=/usr/local/bin/gcc F77=/usr/local/bin/gfortran CXX=/usr/local/bin/g++ MAIN_LDFLAGS=-Wl,-brtl SHLIB_LDFLAGS=-Wl,-G CFLAGS='-g -O' FFLAGS='-O' CXXFLAGS='-g -O' bash-3.00$ ./configure

Discussion starter for package level Connection API
Thought I'd try and start a discussion. Feel free to jump in. I guess R needs to strike the right balance between opening up the internals to package writers and not allowing them to do bad things. My first attempt at cracking this nut is to just memcpy() the Rconnection and not allow access to the private stuff: /* Alternative to allowing C code access to connection API. */ Rconnection

get compressed data via a socket connection
Dear R developers I am currently working on the seqinR package. The seqinR package allows a remote access to biological databases via a socket connection. We are using the functions socketConnection, writeLines and readLines to open the socket, send request to the server and receive response from the server respectively. Recently, a new function implemented in the socket server allows

PATCH: Asserting that 'connection' used has not changed + R_GetConnection2()
SUMMARY: I'm proposing that R assert that 'connection' options have not changed since first created such that R will produce the following error: > fh <- file("a.txt", open = "w+") > cat("hello\n", file = fh) > close(fh) > fh2 <- file("b.txt", open = "w+") > cat("world\n", file = fh2) >

Request to open up getConnection to embedded interface
Hello all, I would like to request that getConnection() and the struct Rconn declarations be added to the R embedded interface. Here's why. It's common in CGI scripts for web applications to direct stdin, stdout, and stderr map to reading from the browser, writing to the browser, and writing to a web log file respectively; very nice and neat. However, things get a little hairy once

problem installing cairo on freebsd
G'day all, I am trying to install the cairo package on FreeBSD and receiving an error to do with Makevars - (I'm not very good at this stuff) so here is my various bits of information. I guess this is a problem with a missing library, but I have just been through a lot of grief trying to get png and jpeg to work (they do now work!), so I'm not sure where to go for this. R

Incoming side of SIP trunk does not work unless I add "insecure=very"
The incoming (Class 5 switch to Asterisk PBX) side of a SIP trunk does not work unless I add "insecure=very" to my "Outgoing settings", but I don't want to do that. I do want to authenticate. Outgoing (Asterisk PBX to Class 5 switch) calls do authenticate and work. The Nortel CS 1500 I'm using as the PSTN-side of my SIP trunk has a username and password that it's

problems compiling R on AIX5.1
Dear all, after trying to compile R on our IBM Power3/AIX 5.1 machine I've been able to run it correctly. First of all I would thank all who responded my mails. I explain here how I've done it: First of all, it seems that configure and some shared libraries of AIX does not work at the same time. I tried to configure & make with the following environment vars CC=xlc F77=xlf CCC=xlC
