Rd2dvi pagination of index in pdf manual
I construct a pdf package manual in Windows 7 using
R CMD Rd2dvi --pdf --no-preview [packagename]
Page numbers are listed correctly under 'R topics documented' at the front, but incorrectly (offset by -2 pages) in the Index at the back. Following the hyperlinked page numbers in the Index takes you to the wrong page. 2 pages happens to be the length of the package overview man page inserted

[PATCH] drm/nouveau/clock: fix support for more than 2 monitors on nve0
Fixes regression introduced in commit 70790f4f
"drm/nouveau/clock: pull in the implementation from all over the place"
When code was moved from nv50_crtc_set_clock to nvc0_clock_pll_set,
the PLLs it is used for got limited to only the first two VPLLs.
nv50_crtc_set_clock was only called to change VPLLs, so it didn't
limit what it was used for in any way. Since nvc0_clock_pll_set is

library manual: documentation of funcs not alphabetically ordered
Hello everybody
I'm putting finishing touches to a library, and have noticed that the
.dvi file that R CMD check
creates does not sort the functions in alphabetical order.
I find this odd because I used the "tidy" routines in section 3.1 of
the R-exts manual, which produce R code in which the functions are
alphabetically ordered (and I performed R CMD check using the

nls fits by groups
Dear Colleagues,
I am trying to estimate several non-linear models simultaneously. I don't
want to use non-linear mixed model, but non-linear model with same form, but
it should be estimated separately according to variable group (I have lots
of groups that have lots of observations....). I would like to have unique
parameters for each group.
e.g. something like this

Maths in R documentation (PR#523)
The document R-exts contains the following example of using
mathematics in R documentation.
\deqn{p(x) = {\lambda^x\ \frac{e^{-\lambda}}{x!}}
{p(x) = lambda^x exp(-lambda)/x!}
There is a syntax error in there, but that's not my point.
The problem is that using "R CMD Rd2dvi" I find that putting
the alternate forms of the equation on top of each other doesn't
work.

The TeX-source for the package manual.
I have noted that the later versions of Rcmd check cleans out the directory pkg.Rcheck so that only package-manual.log and package-manual.pdf are left.
Formerly the package-manual.tex was around too --- very handy for various purposes.
Is there a way to generate the .tex - version of the manual for a package?

Bug#1067151: xen-utils-common: vif-openvswitch ignores MTU
Package: src:xen
Version: 4.17.3+10-g091466ba55-1~deb12u1
Severity: wishlist
I wasn't sure if this script comes from Debian or Xen or somewhere else,
so I thought it safest to report it here.
/etc/xen/scripts/vif-bridge handles MTU settings in the vif, but the
otherwise similar /etc/xen/scripts/vif-openvswitch does not. I added it
in, here's the diff-c and the full fixed file is also

Wishlist for promptPackage / index
Hi R-devels,
would it be possible to enhance either promptPackage()
or the default indexing mechanism for packages
so that -- if it exists -- (the contents of) file
<pkgname>-package.Rd is sorted first in
* the .dvi / .pdf documentation file
* the .chm documentation file
* the package 00index.html documentation file
?
So far I found the following "hand-made" solution

Package manuals.
When I create a manual for a package that I create and use locally,
e.g. via
R CMD Rd2dvi --pdf foo
where ``foo'' is the name of the directory containing the source for
the package (also named ``foo'') the resulting manual does not appear
to have an index.
The package.pdf files appearing on CRAN all seem to have indices.
What must

Manual for package "methods"
Hi,
I want to compile the manual for "methods" so that I can have the usual
indexed man pages in a single document with a ToC. I've tried with
R CMD Rd2dvi --pdf /usr/local/lib/R/library/methods
but the result is odd, the ToC shows only "as" and "setOldClass" and it
does not compile all man pages, the pdf has only 30 pages ...
I know I can simply print

Two documentation questions
1. I often like to put bits of the output into the manual pages. (We can
have a discussion of the value of this elsewhere -- I think it is sometimes
a good thing.)
In R I need to surround these with \dontrun{} for the sake of the tester,
which is fine. But the printed output contains
## Not run
and
## End (not run)
comments, which defeats the purpose of the lines by breaking them

Reordering a numeric variable
I'm running a linear model in R using the car package.
I have a variable education, which i have recoded and regrouped to my
wishes.
However, R seems to place each element of that variable in alphabetical
order.
When I am running the model, don't I need the model order from lowest to
highest to make an inference that
a one unit change in one variable produced a one unit change in

pkg-manual.dvi. How to generate the start page?
Hi!
On the cran "package source" page, to each package there are the "reference manual" in pdf format with a nice title page.
I observed that during the R CMD check pkg a pkg-manual.div are generated in the pgk.Rcheck directory.
But the nice title page are missing. During the package build and install no div files are produced.
Which opitions I have to pass during the build

Creating a pdf
Hi guys,
I'm working on a package, and I want to create a new version file pdf.
On R 2.6.2 it ran ok with the code: R CMD Rd2dvi.sh --pdf pkg.
But it doesn't run on R 2.8.0.
What I'm doing wrong?
These are my components:
