How to change Rlapack by lapack (for rpy2 installation)?
(I asked an earlier question on the rpy2 installation to the rpy2 list, the solution there was to edit the setup.py script, but this looks beyond what I can do unless someone tells me exactly what to modify). I have R 2.8.1 on 2 machines running ubuntu 8.04 (packages R-base and R-base-dev, among others, installed using Synaptic) and while the installation of rpy2 went fine on machine1, failed on

Question on trying to build R 2.11.1 on Tru64(aka OSF1) system
Hello, I am trying to build the R-2.11.1 software for university faculty to use in research projects on a DEC/Compaq/HP AlphaServer model GS160 16CPU/64GB memory running Tru64Unix aka OSF1 version 5.1B-5. Is it known whether it is possible to build the R-2.11.1 software on the platform I am using? In my attempts to build the R-2.11.1 software, I first used the native C and Fortran 77/90/95

Building R on Solaris (OpenIndiana) with gcc 4.6.2 for amd64 target - relocation problems solved
Hello, the "R Installation and Administration" handbook states in Section C 5.1: For ?amd64? the builds have failed to complete in several different ways, currently with relocation errors for libRblas.so. To fix it: add '-shared' to the SHLIB_LDFLAGS, SHLIB_CXXLDFLAGS and SHLIB_FCLDFLAGS before starting configure. So the complete set of variables' values sufficient to

Trouble configuring R to use ACML
I am trying to get R to use the ACML BLAS, specifically the 'mp' version for multithreading. I have installed acml-4-4-0-gfortran-64bit I added /opt/acml4.4.0/gfortran64_mp/lib to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I ran: sudo ./configure --with-blas="-L/opt/acml4.4.0/gfortran64_mp/lib -lacml_mp" At the end of the configuration, the only external library listed is readline, and at the end

[LLVMdev] Many tests fail on Win64
In a debug build you should get a stack trace by default, which would be helpful here. I can try to repro later today, but I'm not surprised there are issues because most people I know stick with 32-bit builds even on 64-bit Windows. Setting the path to Rtools for package compilation on Windows
Hi all, I'm trying to set up the Windows Rtools toolset for building packages with compiled code. I installed for Windows R-3.4.3 from CRAN and installed Rtools-3.4 in a custom location M:\R\R-3.4.3 and M:\R\Rtools-3.4 Following the instructions, in shell, I set Path=M:\R\Rtools-3.4\bin;M:\R\Rtools-3.4\gcc-4.6.3\bin;M:\R\R-3.4.3\bin;... (the ... are other paths irrelevant for R/Rtools).

[LLVMdev] Many tests fail on Win64
I fell over this issue yesterday myself with lots of asserts being thrown. I think the issue is in lib/IR/AsmWriter.cpp:1618 in the function AssemblyWriter::printFunction(const Function *F) Looking at the code I think the 2nd for loop should be preceded by the test ... if (Idx < AS.getNumSlots()) Not sure why it doesn't fail on other platforms as it looks like it should be a genuine

install error for RBGL_1.12.0 on linux ---2
Hi, Li and all lists, More, I have searched the web, and found one solution as described in: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/bioc-devel/2007-June/001168.html But, My condition is some how different: 1) my g++ version is: g++ (GCC) 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5) 2) the SHLIB file is the same, but some difference in /usr/local/lib/R/etc/Makeconf: SHELL = /bin/sh SHLIB_CFLAGS =

R-devel/Linux x64/Sun Studio 12: Problem with Matrix
Dear Developers, motivated by the new Sun Studio checks I compiled R-devel and several of our packages with Sun Studio 12 on Fedora x64. Everything worked fine and R-devel runs, with the exception of package Matrix where compilation crashes with the following message. The error occurs during building of the recommended packages and also if Matrix is compiled separately: [...] CC -G -lCstd

3.7.1-rc1 has been tagged. Let's begin testing!
Hi, I have just tagged 3.7.1-rc1, so it is ready for testing. As a reminder, when doing regression testing, use the 3.7.0 release as your baseline. Thanks, Tom

shlib problems with Intel compiler
Hi Martyn, Thanks for your insight, that seems pretty direct. Unfortunately, I did not compile this version of R (it's on a large supercomputer system and this version of R was installed by the admins). Using "R CMD config", I see the following relevant settings: DYLIB_LD = icc -std=gnu99 DYLIB_LDFLAGS = -shared -openmp LDFLAGS = -L/opt/compilers/intel/cce/9.1.039/lib

Quote symbol names under EXPORTS in tmp.def on Windows
I originally posted on this topic on a different thread: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2016-August/072938.html These sources suggested that a safe practice might be to put double quotes around symbol names in EXPORTS in case the symbol name is the same as a linker keyword: - https://sourceware.org/binutils/docs/ld/Symbols.html#Symbols -

R CMD INSTALL configure.args and CC customization
I am running into the following issue that has been previously reported on the R-devel mailing list. The short version is that I'm writing a package for MPI, and I'd like to change CC and SHLIB_LD to "mpicc". Trying to change them in Makevars.in has no effect, because the values are clobbered by /etc/R/Makeconf. Will the following changes to Makeconf.in introduce any problems?

some fixes for R 2.01.1 on OpenSolaris using Sun Studio compilers
Hello, I recently built a 64-bit R 2.10.1 on OpenSolaris using the Sun Studio 12.1 compilers. I would like to contribute the following notes, to update the OpenSolaris installation instructions. ================================================ 0. GNU libiconv and GNU gettext are assumed to be in /opt/lib. GNU libiconv is easy to build from source. After building it, configure

R CMD INSTALL configure.args and CC customization
One way to deal with this is to install R itself with mpicc. Then all packages are installed with mpicc and get the required MPI libraries and includes by default. I have done this with R-2.13.0 on an Opteron cluster running CentOS-5 a while ago and so far it has worked out great. I crosspost to r-sig-hpc and welcome others to comment if there are potential downsides to this solution. George

shlib problems with Intel compiler
Hi, I'm encountering trouble compiling caTools_1.17.1.tar.gz and e1071_1.6-4.tar.gz on a Linux system using the Intel compiler suite. 14 other packages I generally use installed without any trouble. I notice both of these trouble packages have a C++ component, so I wonder if that might be the issue. Below, there's information on my platform, compiler, and some diagnostic output showing
