ordered logistic regression with random effects. Howto?
I'd like to estimate an ordinal logistic regression with a random effect for a grouping variable. I do not find a pre-packaged algorithm for this. I've found methods glmmML (package: glmmML) and lmer (package: lme4) both work fine with dichotomous dependent variables. I'd like a model similar to polr (package: MASS) or lrm (package: Design) that allows random effects. I was

saving output
I have a question about how to save the output of a logistic regression model in some format (delimited, preferably) so that I can manipulate it to make nice tables in excel. I have tried print, save, write, none seem to do what I want them to. Does anyone have any ideas? Lynn D. Disney, Ph.D., J.D., M.P.H. When using ACF, receive error: no applicable method for 'ACF' applied to an object of class "c('double', 'numeric')"
I am guessing this is a very simple question, but this is only my second day with R so it is all still a bit imposing. I am trying to run an autocorrelation. I imported a CSV file, which has one column labeled "logistic". I ran the command: ACF(data$logistic,maxLag=10) However, I received the error: Error in UseMethod("ACF") : no applicable method for 'ACF'

Logistic regression and R
Hello everybody :-) I have some data that I want to model with a logistic regression, most of the independent variables are numeric and the only dependent is categorical, I was thinking that I could apply a logistic regression using glm but I wanted to deepen my knowledge of this so I tried to do some reading and found the "iris" dataset, now I would like to ask two things, first

help for multinominal logistic regression code
Dear all, firstly I would like to say I am a beginner user for R and also naturally a new member of this mail list. This means I have newer read previous mails before. I need a small help for my analysis. I want to perform a multinominal logistic regression for my data set. But as I told before I am a beginner for R and I couldn't find the code for multinominal logistic

Announce: Summer Program in Data Analysis (SPIDA) 2012
The Institute for Social Research (ISR) and its Statistical Consulting Service (SCS) at York University are pleased to announce our Summer Program In Data Analysis (SPIDA) for 2012. The Program runs from May 24th to June 1st, 2012.This year?s Program focuses on the theory and practice of linear models and mixed [or multilevel] models, as they are applied to hierarchical and longitudinal data.

the observed "log odds" in logistic regression
Dear list: After reading the following two links: http://luna.cas.usf.edu/~mbrannic/files/regression/Logistic.html http://www.tufts.edu/~gdallal/logistic.htm I've known the mathematical basis for logistic regression. However I am still not so sure about the "logit " For a categorical independent variable, It is easy to understand the procedures how "log

How would you program an Adverse Events statistical table using R code?
A graph != A table. I'm talking about a page full of summary statistics and advanced statistics, with lots of cross categories on the top and left margin of the table, as opposed to a visual display with x-axis and y-axis, which is totally different. (An example of how this is done in another language is available at http://fivetimesfaster.blogspot.com ) For an AE table, you have an N and %

Getting the C-index for a dataset that was not used to generate the logistic model
Does anyone know how to get the C-index from a logistic model - not using the dataset that was used to train the model, but instead using a fresh dataset on the same model? I have a dataset of 400 points that I've split into two halves, one for training the logistic model, and the other for evaluating it. The structure is as follows: column headers are "got a loan" (dichotomous),

Error in contrasts message when using logistic regression code.
I have a rather large data set (about 30 predictor variables) I need to preform a logistic regression on this data. My response variable is binary. My code looks like this: mylogit <- glm(Enrolled ~ A + B + C + ... + EE, data = data, family = binomial(link="logit")) with A,B,C, ... as my predictor variables. Some categorical, some continuous, some binary. I run the code and get

pseudo R square and/or C statistic in R logistic regression
Dear all, I am now doing the logistic regression using R. (glm, family=binomial). Besides the standardize summary statistics generated from R, I am also interested in some more informations concerning the model fitting / prediction etc; Particularly I am interested in "pseudo R squar" and "C statistic". I searched the R- help and could only get very limited information. (Post

Extracting S code from a C program
There is a C program called GPS: 'gamma poisson shrinker' at ftp://ftp.research.att.com/dist/gps/ The algorithms in GPS are based on S-Plus programs written by William DuMouchel with support from Columbia University and AT&T Labs. My question is: is there a relatively easy way to extract some of the S code from this windows program? Thanks. -- View this message in context:

Saving data in an R package - how to maintain that t avariable is a 'factor' when it is coded as 1, 2, 3...
I have a .txt file obtained by saving a data frame in which the first four columns are factors (but represented as 1,2,3 etc). The first four lines are "Pig" "Evit" "Cu" "Litter" "Start" "Weight" "Feed" "Time" "4601" "1" "1" "1" 26.5 26.5 NA 1 "4601" "1"

ordinal logistic regression for longitudinal data set
Hi, Can one tell me which procedure will fit an ordinal logistic regression model for longitudinal data set. To be precise, I have both dichotomous and polytomous items. Also, I would like to specify different covariance structures (unstructured, ar1 etc) for trial runs. Thanks -- View this message in context:

simulate binary data from a logistic regression model
Hi. How can i simulate a binary data set from a logistic regression model?I need to manipulate parameters and so obtain my set of data. I want to show the improve in analyzing binary data with GLM(binomial) model instead of classical ANOVA or NON-MODELS procedures(relative risk-odds ratio-Pearson test of godness of fit...) Can you say me what is the right function to use? Do you know any

logistic regression with a sample missing subjects with a value of an independent variable
Dear R-help, I am trying to make logistic regression analysis using the R function "glm", with the parameter family set to binomial, in order to use a logistic regression model. I have 70 samples. The dependent variables has two levels (0 and 1) and one of the independent variables has too two levels (0 and 1). The variables associate in the way shown in the table:

Program Saving
Hi, I have a very simple question. If a want to save a whole program (say more than 5 command lines), how can I proceed without each time using the command history (that allow me to recall previously saved command, but which is to long if you want to recall more than 5 command lines), or without saving to a text file and use copy/paste when I open a new R session (but in fact this doesn't

C-index and Cox model
Dear all R users, I am building a Cox PH model on a small dataset. I am wondering how to measure the predictive power of my cox model? Normally the ROC curve or Gini value are used in logistic regression model. Is there any similar measurement suitable for Cox model? Also if I use C-index statistic to measure the predictive power, is it a time-dependent value (i.e. do I need to calculate it for

variable selection in logistic
Hi, R users, What may be the best function in R to do variable selection in logistic regression? I have the same number of variables as the number of samples, and I want to select the best variablesfor prediction. Is there any function doing forward selection followed by backward elimination in stepwise logistic regression? Thanks, Annie [[alternative HTML version deleted]]
