issue with Rd2pdf and \Sexpr in Rd files
Hi,
The following command:
R CMD Rd2pdf --no-preview --output=./tmp.pdf --title=test genefu-package.Rd
run against this file:
https://hedgehog.fhcrc.org/bioconductor/trunk/madman/Rpacks/genefu/man/genefu-package.Rd
(username: readonly; password: readonly)
produces a very verbose error (see below)
with R version 2.15.0 alpha (2012-03-07 r58622).
The .Rd file has these lines in it:

potentially nasty interaction between R 1.8.0 and tetex
I've been having problems building vignettes in bioconductor packages
with R-devel. Turns out that Rdevel/share/texmf/hyperref.cfg wants
Blue and Red predefined, when only blue and red are defined (as of
rsync Rdevel, Sept 10th). This is on a Debian unstable system (Sept
9th version). Might not apply to all other tetex systems. Seems to
have bitten the bioconductor build system, though.

Thanks, but although hatvalues() is useful for calculating PRESS, I can't find anything directly relevant to my question in the influence help pages. After some burrowing in the literature I'm doubting there is an answer out there (PRESS R^2 is always presented in a fairly ad hoc way).
This is a new topic, as you say, and perhaps better handled on a statistics list.

Compatibility of external C code across platforms
A package I have written makes considerable use of external C code. There appear to be no problems building a Windows binary with the GNU C compiler, but now I would like to make the package available for other platforms. A stringent check of the code with the gcc options '-Wall -pedantic' flags many nested functions and variable-length arrays that are not allowed in ISO C. Is it

CentOS 7 issues with pdf manual / tex conversion
On a CentOS 7 machine, I am at a loss with respect to an inability to run a
full R CMD check as anything involving tex files ends in tears.
We followed the README at CRAN and installed a large number of tex-live
packages on this machine. But when a manual is created, we end up with what
follows below. Here, I chopped some of the error messages, the key seems to

Error in building pdf manual with Rtools
Dear list,
I am trying to produce a pdf manual using Rtools (version 3.1.0.1936) on Windows 8 (64-bit). I am also aware of the inconsolata issue posted in the forum (https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2013-June/066850.html), and then I have installed the patched version of R-3.0.1. However I still have some errors with the following message:

Building R package: make pdf & _masked_by_GlobalEnv
Hi....
I am assembling an R package (under Windows XP, R v.2.3) and have a very
basic question. Running R CMD build does not generate a pdf. R CMD check
generates a .dvi, but I cannot figure out how to automatically create the
pdf. I thought from reading the "writing r extensions' manual that R CMD
build was supposed to generate the pdf. I am having no success using

Do you mean w <- z$residuals ?
Type names(z) to see the list of item in your model.
I ran your code on a lm and it work fine.
You don't need the brackets around mss <-

R.squared in summary.lm with weights
Thanks for these perfectly consistent replies - I didn't understand the purpose of m = sum(w * f/sum(w)) and saw it merely as a weighted average of the fitted values.
My ultimate concern is how to compute an appropriate weighted TSS (or equivalently, MSS) for PRESS-R^2 = 1 - PRESS/TSS = 1 - PRESS/ (MSS + PRESS). Do you think it then makes sense to substitute the vector of leave-one-out fitted

R.squared in summary.lm with weights
Following some old advice on this list, I have been reading the code for summary.lm to understand the computation of R-squared from a weighted regression. Usually weights in lm are applied to squared residuals, but I see that the weighted mean of the observations is calculated as if the weights are on the original scale:

f <- z$fitted.values
w <- z$weights

Problems with make pdf (R-patched_2002-07-15.tar.gz)
After configure, make and make check on
a linux Suse 7.3 box, I run
make dvi and make info with no problems but get
a lot of garbage to my screen during make pdf.
Is this normal? Is there a bug in this part
of the installation?
This is part of what I get on the screen:

Problem making the manuals (make dvi and make pdf)
Dear all,
I am trying to compile and install R from sources on Ubuntu GNU/Linux 64
bit. It usually worked flawlessly for me for more than 4 years (32bit
and 64bit on Mandrake/Mandriva, Suse, Debian, Ubuntu). However, I am
experiencing some problems now -- not during compiling and installing R
itself but with the manuals.
Maybe someone can help me with it? I tried to find some information in

texi2dvi: option "clean" also deletes the generated pdf file
Dear expeRts,
below are two examples of using texi2dvi. The problem becomes clear from the
second example: on cleaning, texi2dvi also deletes the generated .pdf file.
Is there a solution?
Cheers,
Marius
## Example 1: texi2dvi cleans fine, without deleting the generated .pdf

Error building package: LaTeX error when creating PDF version
Hi all
I am trying to build an R package, which I have successfully done many times before, but have an error I cannot trace. I hope someone can help me.
Here's is some edited output (full output below if it is useful):
