STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF TEXT EMAILS Re: Refreshments after SOMS Seminar Friday 3:30-4:30 in HBB 334
Dear Professor Frank Guess,
Why did you call me a Curious George?
What is a curious george as in American context?
Why did you address this email only to Laura and me.
Why did you not answer my early query on what is a curious George?
Why do you also send me emails saying I and Gandhi are full of compassion?

Dear Lists,
Here are my latest posts on retrenching and locating facilities better. Do
you have anything in academic papers that use data mining- analytics for
1) Better Employee ROI quantitative measurement or cutting costs rationally
based on data rather across the board.
2) Locating facilities based on pure quant based approaches than local

A Book for SAS, SPSS and R students
Hi List,
I had the pleasure of taking Dr Bob Muenchen's interview for his upcoming
book R For SAS and SPSS users. He has spent 27 years in this field while I
have spent almost that much on earth.
So this is more like a fan blog interview. I thought it would be of use to
people curious about R, or even SAS , or SPSS if they have not worked on
either of these packages before.

Problems in Recommending R
Dear List,
One persistent feedback I am getting to people who are newly introduced to R
( especially in this cost cutting recession) is -
1) The website looks a bit old.
While the current website does have a lot of hard work behind it, should n't
a world class statistics package have a better website instead.
You can check out www.knime.org which is an open source software , and free,

R- exp(-1000) ? - how to get R to give me an actual answer ?
Dear All,
I am a novice user of the R software package. When I try and compute,
exp(-1000) or exp(-2000), i get the answer as zero. Is there any way i can get
R to compute the answer and give me an actual number ? ( by increasing the
precision or any other method).
If I cannot get R to give me a number, can anybody give me some advice on how
to manually compute this number ?
