post-installation startup problem with 2.10.0
I've just installed R2.10.0 v50082, and found the problem described below the first few times I launched it. Did not occur with v49613 (the previous most recent version I have). The problem has now gone away, and is therefore non-reproducible, but there seems to be something up with parameter processing or environment variable checking or loading of .RData files immediately after installation.

parse_Rd and/or lazyload problem
I'm encountering problems when making lazy-loadable databases of the output from 'parse_Rd'. The lazy-load database is of seemingly limitless size when I try to reload it... Admittedly I am using functions that I'm not really supposed to use, which is why this isn't a bug report, but there does seem to be something strange going on; my code is very similar to code that lives

S4 methods bug in naming of slots (PR#3665)
Hello, I am using R 1.7.1 on a Redhat Linux machine, version 7.3. The following works fine: setClass("ok", representation( "A" = "matrix", "Cmatrix" = "matrix")) new("ok", "A" = diag(4), "Cmatrix" = diag(4)) But the following doesn't work: setClass("notok", representation(

grep problem in R-devel 2.14 r57004
Problem below with PCRE grep in R-devel; works fine in R-patched. RCMD CHECK and non-methods
I recently moved a function 'subset.with.warning' into the 'mvbutils' package (a version not yet on CRAN). When I tried RCMD CHECK, I got this warning: * checking S3 generic/method consistency ... WARNING subset: function(x, ...) subset.with.warning: function(x, cond, mess.head, mess.cond, row.info, sub) See section 'Generic functions and methods' of the

rbind with auto-row-named data.frame + list (PR#9346)
There's a problem new to R2.4.0 when rbinding an auto-row-named data.frame to a list: > rbind( data.frame( x=1), list( x=2)) Error in attr(value, "row.names") <- rlabs : row names must be 'character' or 'integer', not 'double' Works OK with 2 data.frames or 2 lists. slow load() in R2.6.0
I'm encountering excruciatingly slow load times for character vectors in R 2.6.0-- up to 30sec for a 15K file that contains a no-attributes character vector of length ~1e4 and object size ~0.5MB. In R 2.5.1, repeated loads of the same set of files are near-instantaneous. The problem is proving tricky to reproduce consistently from scratch, so I have attached the 3 files used in the examples

Finding cases in one subset that are closet to another subset
Good afternoon Running R2.10.0 on Windows I have a data frame that includes (among much else) a factor (In_2006) and a continuous variable (math_3_4). I would like to find the 2 cases for In_2006 = 0 that are closest to each case where In_2006 = 1. My data looks like In_2006 math_3_4 0 55.1 1 51.6 1 18.1 1 26.6 1 14.1

Fatigued R
Hi R, Please solve my problem........... I am extracting Bloomberg data from R, in a loop. R is getting fatigued by doing this process and gives some errors. I introduced sleep function. Doing this sometimes I get the results and sometimes not. I even noticed that if I give complete rest for R (don't open R window) for 1 day and then run my code with the sleep function, then the

Standard non-standard evaluation problem with 2.10-0
Dear List I am getting an error when checking my analogue package with R2.10.0-patched. The error comes when running a function within which I use the standard non-standard evaluation method. I've distilled the error and functions involved out into the following simple example to illustrate the error: ## Dummy data to illustrate formula method d <- data.frame(A = runif(10), B = runif(10),
