trellis margin sizes in absolute units
Dear R users,
I have a lot of experience with traditional R graphics, but I decided to turn to trellis as
it was recommended for spatial graphs by the sp package. In traditional R graphics
I always first set the size of the device region absolute units (e.g. mm) and then I
firmly fix the inner margins with mai and the outer margins with oma also in absolute units.
What is left from the device

Changing graphics height when using grid and lattice
Hi,
I have recently been playing with the grid package in an attempt to create
some pages containing multiple lattice plots on the same page. However, when
I specify a grid layout with different widths, such as:
pushViewport(viewport(layout = grid.layout(1, 2, unit(c(2, 1), "null"))))
the individual graphs do not end up as the same height - which is a feature
I would prefer to have.

Neat style trick
Not terribly exciting, but I was happy to think of it.
I needed a div with a fixed height that could vary depending on page
content.
So I did this:
<div class="listcntnr" style="height: <%= @users.size / 2 * 125%>px">
Whee!

Customised legend in lattice
Hi List,
Am trying to customize a legend in trellis: Draws 2x5 lines in 5 colors and
2 linetypes. I would like to add two more items to the legend showing the
key for the line types above the colored legend.
Any suggestions welcome - thanks Herry

lattice: defining graphical parameters
Dears,
could anyone give me some advice how to change some plotting parameters for a lattice graph?
I need to adjust the following:
-reduce outer margins (like par(mar=c(0,0,0,0)) with base graphs)
-modify positions of labels (like par(mpg=c(0,0,0)) with base graphs)
I already did some research, but got confused by the huge amount of settings with the lattice objects.
I know that the road

xyplot: strip size
Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to control
the strip size in xyplot for example using the
strip.default function. Or do I need to redraw
the strips by myself?
I would like to make
the strip slimmer and I have reduced the font
size using cex. However, I don't know how
to change the size of the strip.
Thanks for any tips.

unexpected behavior of trellis calls inside a user-defined function
I am making a battery of levelplots and wireframes for several fitted
models. I wrote a function that takes the fitted model object as the
sole argument and produces these plots. Various strange behavior
ensued, but I have identified one very concrete issue (illustrated
below): when my figure-drawing function includes the addition of
points/lines to trellis plots, some of the

null model for a single species?
Dear List members,
I would like to test whether an observed occupancy of lakes in a landscape has occurred randomly (by chance) or not.
How can I do that? The problem is that it concerns only a single species and I would like to use binary data only.
At first I thought of generating null models and test the observed occupancy against the randomly generated one. However, this needs more than one

cloud plot has white(transparent?) background
I am using the code example from the R graph gallery to look at a
cloud plot:
require(lattice)
data(iris)
print(cloud(Sepal.Length ~ Petal.Length * Petal.Width, data = iris,
groups = Species, screen = list(z = 20, x = -70),
perspective = FALSE,
key = list(title = "Iris Data", x = .15, y=.85, corner = c(0,1),

Spacing between lattice panels
I'm trying to set up a lattice plot with two y-axes for each panel. (Yes,
I know that multiple y-axes are generally a bad idea; the graph is for
someone else and they want it that way.) I've used a custom
yscale.component in xyplot to achieve this:
myyscale.component <- function(...)
{
ans <- yscale.components.default(...)
ans$right <- ans$left

Buggy trellis.focus() with xyplot ?
Hi:
(Tried to find a bug report about this issue, but was unable to find it, let
me know if this is a known issue)
I have been working on an interface to highlight xyplot panels on mouse
overs in JavaGD but I have stumbled with what seems to be a bug in
trellis.focus.
I am using R 2.8 with lattice 0.17-15

aligning column of xyplots and removing space between them
The code below displays three graphs in three rows and one column but:
1. I want to remove the space between the graphs (I tried playing with position=
arg to print.trellis but it seems quite difficult to get the right
values and all
my attempts had space between them or had overlapping graphs. Is
there a better way to do this?

New trellis settings
I've just upgraded to 2.0.1 and was taken by surprise by the changes
in graphical parameter handling for lattice plots. I'd previously
been using 1.9.1. The old settings seem to have been replaced by a
daunting number of new options. I've poked around a bit and have not
seen any discussion of the changes in the newsletter or on r-help but
maybe I'm overlooking something?

align two lattice plots with grid
Dear list,
I need to align two plots on top of each other for comparison (they
only have the x-axis in common). When the y-labels have a different
extent, I cannot find a way to align the x-axes, as illustrated below,

Lattices: Cloud: Background
Hi,
There's probably some simple way of doing this, but I'm just not seeing
it - How do I get the background to be white instead of grey when I have
a cloud plot (using the lattices package)? par(bg="white") isn't
working. I'm assuming par commands won't work on lattice plots. What
should I use instead?
Thanks,
Adrienne

latticeExtra: useOuterStrips and axis.line$lwd
Hi,
I'm working on some lattice wireframe figures that have two conditioning
factors, and I want the strips labelled on the top and left of the
entire plot, rather than above each individual panel. useOuterStrips()
does this, but it draws internal axis lines, even after I explicitly set
axis.line to 0. Is there a way to use useOuterStrips but without axis
boxes?
I've included a short

trellis.par.set and grid : how to set by default that I want a grid on my graphes ?
Hello all,
I want to draw a grid behind my graphes, using lattice package.
I manage to do it with instructions like this one :
xyplot(Sepal.Length + Sepal.Width ~ Petal.Length ,
data = iris, allow.multiple = TRUE, scales = "same",type="l",
panel = function(...) { panel.grid(h=-1, v= -1) ;
panel.superpose(...)
}
)
I was wondering if there were a way to do it
