New package "frontier" for Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA)
Hi! A few weeks ago, I have uploaded a new R package "frontier" for Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) [1] to CRAN [2]. It includes the FORTRAN code of Tim Coelli's [3] software "Frontier 4.1" [4]. Hence, the R package "frontier" should have the same capabilities as "Frontier 4.1", i.e. Maximum Likelihood Estimation of Stochastic Frontier Production

Version 1.0 of the R package "frontier" released
Dear all I am happy to announce that version 1.0 of the "frontier" package is available on CRAN. The R package "frontier" provides tools for analysing efficiency and productivity using the "stochastic frontier" approach. This R package is based on Tim Coelli's DOS software "FRONTIER 4.1" and has been available on CRAN for almost 5 years now. After many

SFA tools moved from micEcon to frontier
Dear R users, I would like to inform you that everything of the "micEcon" package that is related to Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) has been moved to the "frontier" package, because this is a more appropriate place for the functions "front41WriteInput", "front41ReadOutput", and "front41Est", and the corresponding (S3) methods. The data

New package for microeconomics: micEcon
Dear all, I have uploaded a new package called micEcon (version 0.1-3) to CRAN (an early version of this package has been already presented at useR! 2004). It contains tools for microeconomic analysis and microeconomic modeling. These are for instance: - tools for demand analysis with the 'Almost Ideal Demand System' (AIDS): e.g. econometric estimation, calculation of price and

package for stochastic frontier models?
I need to estimate maximum tree crown radius and am looking for a package to prepare stochastic frontier models in R. I have not found any package references on Nabble R help, google, or R help. Any tips on a package for this? With regards, Aaron Trowbridge Researcher BV Research Centre Smithers B.C. -- View this message in context:

passing char to Fortran routine
Hello all, I am using an existing Fortran routine that takes a single character string as argument. The routine echoes the argument that I provide. When working on OS X 3.9 there seems to be no problem, ie the Fortran routine nicely echoes my argument. However, I compiled the same package on a PC (using all the tools provided in the R for windows faq), and the routine only echoes the first letter

micEcon split into micEconSNQP, micEconCES, and micEcon
In December, the packages "miscTools" and "micEconAids" were separated from the "micEcon" package. Now, two further packages have been separated from the micEcon package: "micEconSNQP" and "micEconCES". The "micEconSNQP" package (version 0.6-2) provides tools for production analysis with the Symmetric Normalized Quadratic (SNQ) profit

Multiple logical operations in a subscript
Hello, I would like to select cases using multiple logical operations (e.g. X or Y or Z) without having to repeat the dataframe$variable within the subscript. My working code (with a single logical operator) currently looks like this: dataframe$newvariable[data$oldvariable=="X"]<-"group1" I thought this next line of code might do what I wanted, but it doesn't:

AKIMA or translating to FORTRAN a R function calling a FORTRAN routine
Hi, I am hired to translate into FORTRAN R functions. It works great and my customer is happy. I am going to translate a function that call aspline in the library AKIMA. This function call 2 FORTRAN routines that must be include (I guess) in the package AKIMA. And I have some questions. Is the fortran code really included in the R package AKIMA ? In other word, do I have a mean to call these 2

Package Matrix
Hi Dirk! It would be great if you could upload a (Debian) package "r-cran-matrix" that includes the latest version of the R package "Matrix" to http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu/intrepid/ "r-recommended" depends on "r-cran-matrix", but only the (outdated) version that shipped with intrepid (0.999375-10-1) is currently available. Rounding in print.summaryDefault()
Might this be related to the Linux version? I'm testing on one of our university servers, and they tend to be deprived of regular updates sometimes... (Dirk, sorry for sending you this twice.) > Sys.info() sysname "Linux" release

Creating an S3 method when the generic function is defined in another (imported) package
Hi, In one of my packages (maxLik), I would like to add an S3 method, where the generic function (estfun) is defined in another package (sandwich). Everything works fine if my package "Depends" on the other package and I import the generic function "estfun" from the "sandwich" package and define the new method in the NAMESPACE file. However, I prefer not to load the
