Forwarded to R-Help, because I think it could interest people following this thread. Clearly, RServe and svSocket have different goals and very little overlap. I need to input a txt, or xls, file from a client to R, using RServe. >From what I've been reading, the best way to do this, is using the 'createReference' method, from REngine package. Public R servers?
Hello, Earlier I posted a question about memory usage, and the community's input was very helpful. However, I'm now extending my dataset (which I use when running a regression using lm). As a result, I am continuing to run into problems with memory usage, and I believe I need to shift to implementing the analysis on a different system.. I know that R supports R servers through

GUI's and R background processes
Hello, I am new to R and have created an application using R 2.10, with a graphical UI using TclTk 8.5, running on windows 7, quad core machine. The intention of the application is to launch calculations and display results on a graphical dashboard. I've reached a roadblock, and I need to confirm that the following CANNOT be done. I've been trying to find a mechanism for doing the

Using R from Java
Hello, I am interesting in using R from a web application, for basic statistics and plots. The server is Java-based (tomcat). The simplest solution is a system call that generates the text or the image, then the servlet forwards the output. This can be done from any language, but it is quite inelegant and slow for the initialization time. Is there any package or approach for accessing R from a

export R data as web service
I'd like to access data in my R session from elsewhere via HTTP. My particular use case would be R on Linux, accessing data from Windows, all on the same intranet. Naively, when I say this, I imagine something like: > theData <- big.calculation.returning.data.frame() > startHttpServer(port=8675) (blocks until I C-c it) Elsewhere... http://linuxmachine:8675/htmlDF?theData

R & Java
Hey guys, I'm a (Java) integration architect. We are currently stuck with SAS but I'd be happy to switch that to R! (of course ;-). Now, a big argument for the latter, is that we can integrate it seamlessly with all our existing (java) apps. Therefore: has anyone heard of a java API (like SAS has it's Java API for enterprise integration) or a Service we can call (e.g. a web service,

install.package("TinnR") - there is no package called 'TinnR'
I have troubles make TinnR 2.2.0.2 work, it seems that the dependency on the package TinnR that cannot be found (I tried also manual downloads, but I cannot find the package anywhere on any CRAN mirror). I even set a default cran mirror in the Rprofile.site file, so that the later command can find it: # check necesary packages necessary = c('TinnR', 'svSocket') installed =

CRAN + geography = Cranography
In response to an earlier discussion about finding the fastest/best/nearest CRAN site, I geocoded (using my geonames package) the locations of the CRAN sites returned by getCRANmirrors. I've mapped them here: http://www.maths.lancs.ac.uk/~rowlings/R/Cranography/ The geocoding may have got it wrong, so if CRAN site maintainers want to send me a real lat-long (in WGS 84 aka EPSG:4326) I'll

R's database capabilities
I admit that I've not done a thorough search on this topic, but from the several instructional manuals and/or tutorials I've looked at, I don't see any mention of relational database capabilities in R? Have I missed something, and if so, can someone point me in the right direction to get started? Thanks! Jim Bouldin, PhD Research Ecologist Department of Plant Sciences, UC Davis

Network from package functions
Dear R-helpers, does anyone know of some package/function that can build a network from the functions that are implemented in a package, i.e. visualize the cross-references from one function to another in the same or some dependent package? An example would be a function like 'nls' on top of the hierarchy and then a network of nodes from the functions that are called within 'nls'

Dear all, I have been writing during last year at the European Bioinformatics Institute a general unified open source solution for R integration. This work is now available via this link: http://www.ebi.ac.uk/microarray-srv/frontendapp/ The different frameworks and tools of the biocep project are now robust enough for production use. The different APIs are finalized but the documentation is
