paraPen in gam [mgcv 1.4-1.1] and centering constraints
Dear Mr. Simon Wood, dear list members,
I am trying to fit a similar model with gam from mgcv compared to what I
did with BayesX, and have discovered the relatively new possibility of
incorporating user-defined matrices for quadratic penalties on
parametric terms using the "paraPen" argument. This was really a very
good idea!
However, I would like to constraint the coefficients

Dear All,
I am analysing a dataset on levels of herbivory in seedlings in an
experimental setup in a rainforest.
I have seven classes/categories of seedling damage/herbivory that I want to
analyse, modelling each separately.
There are twenty maternal trees, with eight groups of seedlings around each.
Each tree has a TreeID, which I use as the random effect (blocking factor).
There are two

for the first time since R-0.6x I have to face installation problem. I
switched to a new Linux-box (SuSE 9.0) and installed as many libraries as

scripting/littler: How to call function named iteratively (`f1`, `f2`, …)?

wanting to compare different implementations of a solution I want to
script it to iterate over the different implementations. Is there a way

z = n + l
