--gui=Tk window does not stretch (PR#8520)
Full_Name: Greg Kochanski
Version: 2.2.0
OS: Debian Linux
Submission from: (NULL) (212.159.16.190)
When you grab the corner of the Tk-R (R's console) window,
the window stretches, but the useable area does not.
It remains firmly fixed at the (rather small) value of
24 lines.
In fact, you end up with a grey border of wasted pixels
around the active white area that contains the text.

Account Management Tool TCL/TK GUI Beta?
Samba-howto-collection mention in chapter 11 that there will be a
new Account Management Tool written in TCL/TK that should (hopefully) be
announced in time for Samba-3.0.1 release.
As we are right now seeing the beta of 3.0.1, I would like to know
if there's a beta of this tool, and if so where can I get it?
regards
Thiago Lima.

New package 'ade4TkGUI', a Tcl/Tk GUI for ade4
Dear R-Users,
ade4TkGUI is a new package available on CRAN. It implements a Tcl/Tk
graphical user interface (GUI) for the ade4 package.
Only the most basic functions of ade4 have a GUI in this first
version : classical one-table data analysis methods (PCA, COA,
MCA, PCO, etc.), one table with groups of rows (BGA, WGA, DA),
and two-tables analysis methods (Coinertia analysis, CCA, PCAIV).

Speed issue when writing to RGui console from tcl/tk GUI
It seems that there are speed issues when printing to the R console from a
tcl/tk GUI.
Here are functions to write a lot of output, and to display how long it
takes.
printsalot <- function(n)
{
for(i in 1:n) cat(i, fill = TRUE)
}
timings <- function(n = 1e3)
{
print(system.time(printsalot(n)))
}
Calling timings() from the console reveals a run time of a few hundredths
of a second.

another tcl/tk query
Greetings:
I wish to use a tcl/tk widget to ask for user-selected parameter values. My
widget works ? it asks for and returns to my workspace the stuff I need.
Here is a snippet of my code:
###############################
OnOK <- function()
{
LOG.X <<- as.logical(as.character(tclvalue(log.X.buttonValue)))
LOG.Y <<- as.logical(as.character(tclvalue(log.Y.buttonValue)))

tcl/tk return problem
Hello,
I'm very new in working with tcl/tk in R and have a problem which will
probably
sound silly to most of you.
Here is the code I have problems with:
readcelfiles <- function()
{
require(tcltk)
tt <- tktoplevel()
tkgrid(tklabel(tt,text="Choose a directory!"))
OnOK <- function()
{
fileDir<-tclvalue(tkchooseDirectory())

Problem loading Tcl/Tk (?)
Hello,
a user of one of my packages has sent me the following problem that
apparently appears when loading the tcltk package. I'm guessing something
(Tcl/Tk? R open scripting framework?) is not installed correctly... can
someone please confirm or correct my guess? The OS is Mac 10.6.5.
Thanks,
Peter

tk problem with R 2.2.0 on wine/linux
Actually I am trying to run sciview-R and encounted some problems with
tk, and I thought I'll check the basic library(tcltk) functionallity,
just to be sure. Anybody seen that '[tcl] bad window path name ".1".'
message before?
Prof. Philippe Grosjean: yes, I have managed to load most of
sciview-R under Wine, except the tcltk library!

Off topic: Tcl/Tk outside R.
I'm trying to learn about the tcltk package and its uses. Floundering
around a bit ... Have discovered Peter Dalgaard's articles in R-News,
which should help. Also James Wettenhall's suite of examples look like
they might be enlightening, even though the indications are that they
are
Windoze oriented.
Be that as it were, I decided to fool around a bit with Tcl/Tk *outside*

compilation options to get install.packages() to invoke tcl/tk
Hi UseRs,
I've just installed 2.10.0 on Ubuntu hardy, compiling from the tar.gz bundle.
install.packages() just says "Error in install.packages() : no
packages were specified"
The "normal" hardy 2.6.2 version pops up a tcl/tk menu for repositories.
I'm assuming I missed a configure option for tcl/tk, but the configure
script says that --with-tcltk is
the default.

tcl/tk with R
Greetings:
I would like to use tcl/tk with R, and have read "A Primer on the R-Tcl/Tk
Package" by Peter Dalgaard in Rnews, Volume 1/3, September 2001.
Are there more recent do-it-yourself instructions available?
I have been unsuccessful with the example in the tcltk2 package due to a
syntax error.
I think that I have isolated the problem to this code snippet:

Pasting into Tk table widget?
I'm working on a matrix editor using the Tk table widget, and it is almost
done. It slices, dices, etc., and it can paste into Excel from an R session
running on Linux. What I don't know how to do is paste from Excel into a Tk
table, and Google is not helping me. Can anyone lend me a clue?

Drawing a graph with vertices and edges using tcl/tk
Dear all; I would like to draw a graph with vertices and edges, and I guess tcl/tk would be appropriate. I don't know tcl/tk but have googled for a 10-page (or so) introduction to 'getting started with tcl/tk in R' but without any luck.
- Does anyone know of the existence of such a document or any other web-based material on the subject?

Tcl/Tk on Panther
It used to be sufficient to configure R with
configure --enable-R-shlib
--with-tcl-config=/Library/Frameworks/Tcl.framework/tclConfig.sh
--with-tk-config=/Library/Frameworks/Tk.framework/tkConfig.sh
--with-blas='-framework vecLib' --with-lapack --with-aqua

R-tk mailing list
This is to announce that Martin Maechler has set up a new mailing list
with the purpose of investigating the possibility to use Tcl/Tk with
R.
As you may know, Tcl is a scripting language and Tk is its GUI
toolkit. In the context of R, the main attractions are
- portability X/Win3.1/Win32/Mac
- ease of implementation (people say...)
- nice GUI model of Tk
- possibility of making language
