fontconfig-2.1.93 considered more harmful
There is an ongoing thread "fontconfig-2.1.92 considered harmful" on -CURRENT.
Because I have not moved to -CURRENT, I post this to -STABLE.
Since I upgraded to fontconfig-2.1.93 (on Apr 14) a lot of ports start to
complain a lot of "Cannot fork: Resource temporarily unavailable" errors.
What resource ? I inserted top into my ports build script to notice that

[fdo] Time to kill the fontconfig wiki?
Looking at http://www.fontconfig.org/wiki/TitleIndex I see it's around
99.9% pure spam. Other than the front page, virtually everything else
is the moin-moin boilerplate or the hundreds of pages of spam. Even the
Recent Changes & Find Page links have been overwritten by spammers hundreds
of times, with the spammers fighting each other to crap on it most recently.

fontconfig and FT_Get_BDF_Property
Hi all,
After upgrading my fontconfig to 2.2.0, fc-cache -vf gives me an error:

symbol "FT_Get_BDF_Property" when it tries to build the cache for non
bitmapped fonts.
I have:
1. updated my CVS ports tree
2. rebuilt fontconfig, freetype, expat and Xft using portupgrade
(portupgrade -frR )

CEBA-2006:0427-001 CentOS 4 x86_64 fontconfig - bugfix update
When installing fontconfig.i386 on a machine that already had
fontconfig.x86_64 installed, yum would report a rpm file conflict error
on /usr/share/man/man5/fonts-conf.5.gz
bugfix packages are now available to resolve this issue.

bug (PR#13570)
<<insert bug report here>>
This is a CRITICAL bug!!! I have verified it in R 2.8.1 for mac and
for windows. The problem is with loess degree=0 smoothing. For
example, try the following:
x <- 1:100
y <- rnorm(100)
plot(x, y)
lines(predict(loess(y ~ x, degree=0, span=0.5)))
This is obviously wrong.

wine-20050211 on SuSE 9.2
I am trying to install wine-20050211 on my second system, which runs
SuSE 9.2. After much faffing around I finally managed to download and
install bison, which allowed ./config to complete. A warning at the end
advised me to install xlib-devel or xfree86-devel. Googling around I
found the RPM for XFree86-devel for SuSE 9.1 so I downloaded it and
started to install it. Unfortunately, a

Full_Name: Sean Laverty
Version: R version 2.8.1 (2008-12-22)
OS: os x 10.5.6
Submission from: (NULL) (155.101.41.13)
In the console colors window, colors do not stick when palettes are closed. All
custom colors are replaced by blue. I've tried all palettes - crayons, sliders,
wheel, spectrum.

Bug report in foreign library (PR#13425)
here appears to be a bug in the foreign library. The following code used to
work, but now generates an error when 'package="SAS"' is specified:

# running foreign package version 0.8-30

# this works fine

Unexpected mfrow, layout behavior (pdf still has multiple pages)
My goal is to create a graph with one column and three rows into a
single graphic. The mfrow, mfcol, and layout functions all have the
same effect: three graphs are produced in a single pdf file, having
one graph per page. This is not what I want (I didn't want multiple
pages). Just before I sent this post, I was able to generate the
desired output with split.screen. Is this the expected
