Hello,
I am trying to get a package to pass R CMD check on an iMac running

following warning from R CMD check:

location of Rconfig.h when using architecture-dependent subdirs
Hello,
I just tried configuring R to use architecture-dependent subdirs
$ r_arch=x86_64 ./configure --prefix=/u/smat/konis/testdir
on a Debain Squeeze box
$ uname -a
Linux smapc007 2.6.32-5-686 #1 SMP Sat Sep 18 02:14:45 UTC 2010 i686
GNU/Linux
After building and installing, the Rconfig.h ended up in
.../lib/R/include/x86_64 but R.h still includes it as
#include <Rconfig.h>

the %ProgramFiles% variable
Hello,
I want to use the %ProgramFiles% variable in a Sys.setenv (R 2.7.2,
Windows) but it always seems to get handled literally. For instance,
in cmd.exe I get what I want
C:\Documents and Settings\user>echo %ProgramFiles%
C:\Program Files
but in R

%ProgramFiles%
nope. Is there a way to use %ProgramFIles% or get the corresponding

Matrix with random number
Hello!
I have a program in Fortran and would like to build a matrix with random numbers, I have a function in C.
However, I have problems with the use of function in R.

gRaven package - Bayes Nets: 'RHugin' Emulation with 'gRain'
Dear all,
I am pleased to announce that CRAN now hosts my package gRaven.
This provides wrappers for functions in the 'gRain' package to emulate
some 'RHugin' functionality, allowing the building of Bayesian networks
consisting of discrete chance nodes incrementally - through adding
nodes, edges and conditional probability tables, the setting of
evidence, whether

string comparison
Hi,
I have a package where I do things like this a lot:
if(strncmp(CHAR(asChar(Scategory)), "chance", 6) == 0)
category = h_category_chance;
else if(strncmp(CHAR(asChar(Scategory)), "utility", 7) == 0)
category = h_category_utility;
else if(strncmp(CHAR(asChar(Scategory)), "decision", 8) == 0)
category = h_category_decision;

Random seed problem in MCMC coupling of chains
Hello!
I am performing coupling of chains in MCMC and I need the same value
of seed for two chains. I will show demo of what I want:
R code, which might show my example is:
niter <- 3
nchain <- 2
tmpSeed <- 123
for (i in 1:niter) { # iterations
for (j in 1:nchain) { # chains
set.seed(tmpSeed)
a <- runif(1)
cat("iter:", i, "chain:", j,

Could not create DVI version
In Solaris with R-1.7.0beta from 2003-04-01 I still have a problem with
"R CMD check" after I build a package:
* creating setRNG-manual.tex ... OK
* checking setRNG-manual.tex ... ERROR
Could not create DVI version.
This typically indicates Rd problems.
I can manually gererate the dvi from setRNG-manual.tex, so I don't think
my latex is defective as I speculated last week. The file

Best way to reset random seed when using set.seed() in a function?
Hi,
this is related to a question just raised on Bioconductor where one
function sets the random seed internally but never resets it, which
results in enforced down streams random samples being deterministic.
What is the best way to reset the random seed when you use set.seed()
within a function? Is it still to re-assign '.Random.seed' in the
global environment as following example

dse package problems
I am having problems with the package dse. I just installed R 2.2.1
and reinstalled all packages. I am running Windows XP Pro with all
updates.
Below there are two examples of error messages generated when trying
to execute some simple programs. The code was taken directly from the
package documentation.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Portability and Memory Issues for R-package
I have an upcoming JASA paper with an iid sampling algorithm for Bayesian Generalized Linear models (e.g., Logit, Poisson Regression, and Conditional Logit models with multivariate normal priors). At this point, I have implemented the algorithms in C and hope to make the functions and corresponding source code available through an R package. I have successfully created the code necessary to

HP/Compaq Rackmount UPS Support? [SOLVED]
Hi Denny.
Nice, i have entered the HP R5500 XR to the drivers.list
in the Testing and Development tree.
Some info for you when you setup the nut. The shutdown_delay
of the driver is internal to the ups.
It calculate the time it can run after low-battery with the
load. So when it comes to OB LB it starts the shutdown_delay and power
off after it runs out.
This is the normal way, as you would

Which function can change RNG state?
Today I struggled for hours to understand some unexpected package test
results. It turned out that this is because package "parallel", buried deep
in my dependencies, calls runif() during it's initialization and in this way
changes the random number sequence. This seems to be a part of a more
general question--which kind of functions can we trust if we want to
preserve random

[nut-commits] svn commit r1019 - in trunk: . drivers
Hi Kjell,
a few notes:
- you should bump the DRV_VERSION upon every change
- you should track the drivers TODO list in a comment header (such as
"implement smart load segment detection" completed with your info,
...). That would help to bootstrap new contributors.
- you can also use the alioth trackers (features request, or task) to
give some external visibility on what remains to be
