Error formal argument "softmax" matched by multiple actual arguments
I am running the nnet package as > neural.soft<-nnet(custcat~region+ed+marital+tenure+age+address+income,size=3,softmax=TRUE) This returns the error message : formal argument "softmax" matched by multiple actual arguments Here the dependent variable "custcat" is a factor with 4-levels. This error does not crop up for any other arguments of nnet(), including

R looping help
Hey I'm not really sure what I should put on here, but I am having trouble with my R code. I am trying to get the p-values, R^2s etc for a number of different groups of variables that are all in one dataset. This is the code: #Stand counter st<-1 #Collections stands<-numeric(67) slopes<-numeric(67) intercepts<-numeric(67) mses<-numeric(67) rsquares<-numeric(67)

a strange problem with integrate()
Dear all, I am stuck on the following problem with integrate(). I have been out of luck using RSiteSearch().. My function is g2<-function(b,theta,xi,yi,sigma2){ xi<-cbind(1,xi) eta<-drop(xi%*%theta) num<-exp((eta + rep(b,length(eta)))*yi) den<- 1 + exp(eta + rep(b,length(eta))) result=(num/den)*exp((-b^2)/sigma2)/sqrt(2*pi*sigma2)

formals() adds 0 to complex function arguments
Dear list, I'm facing an issue with the automated documentation of a function using roxygen2. The function has a complex-valued default argument, which is picked up by roxygen2 using formals() to generate the corresponding Usage section of the Rd file. Unfortunately, it appears that formals() reformats complex numbers. Consider the example below, test <- function(a = 1+2i){} >

Minor typo in influence.measures.Rd ?
Dear list, There is, I believe, a minor typo in the example section of influence.measures.Rd. In the final example the word `does` appears where I suspect `dose` is required: I couldn't remember exactly what format patches should be in, so here is one as diff would produce: Index: devel/src/library/stats/man/influence.measures.Rd

[LLVMdev] How to install poolalloc?
Which compiler are you using to compile poolalloc? Looks like it doesn't support C++11 (doesn't recognize nullptr). If it's the former, you should know that you don't need to compile SAFECode to use

Poisson dpois value is too small for double precision thus corrupts loglikelihood
Hi - I have a likelihood function that involves sums of two possions: L = a*dpois(Xi,theta1)*dpois(Yi,theta2)+b*(1-c)*a*dpois(Xi,theta1+theta3)*dpois(Yi,theta2) where a,b,c,theta1,theta2,theta3 are parameters to be estimated. (Xi,Yi) are observations. However, Xi and Yi are usually big (> 20000). This causes dpois to returns 0 depending on values of theta1, theta2 and theta3. My first

For working with poolalloc, I would recommend using LLVM 3.2 as we know poolalloc compiles with LLVM 3.2. If there's a release_29 branch for poolalloc, you could use that, but you won't get any bug fixes that we added between poolalloc 2.9 and poolalloc

Where's the formal syntax?
I've been using linux:TC from a USBstik in order to not break the M$ capability, as previously always happened. Since TC runs in RAM, it has many extra problems; like reinstalling all the apps and your private settings at each boot. The sample isolinux.cfg which I've been emailed by the oficianado is very unfamiliar and worrying. Where is the official syntax ? -- Without knowing if/how

EM algorithm to find MLE of coeff in mixed effects model
I have a general question about coefficients estimation of the mixed model. I simulated a very basic model: Y|b=X*\beta+Z*b +\sigma^2* diag(ni); b follows N(0,\psi) #i.e. bivariate normal where b is the latent variable, Z and X are ni*2 design matrices, sigma is the error variance, Y are longitudinal data, i.e. there are ni

[EXTERNAL] Re: NOTE: multiple local function definitions for ?fun? with different formal arguments
Because functions get called and therefore, the calling sequence matters. It?s just protecting you from yourself, but as someone pointed out, there?s a way to silence such notes. G From: Herv? RE: A question on vmx loader in xen - how and when rombiosis loaded into memory
Thank you. I notice the system then jumps to F000:FFF0 to execute. But because VMX is turned on, switching to real-mode would incur problems? I don’t find any clue to turn on the vm86 mode as Readme in the tools/firmware directory puts.
