Package install problem on Windows (PR#13284)
Full_Name: Lars Hansen Version: 2.8.0 OS: Windows XP Pro x64 SP2 Submission from: (NULL) (71.39.177.36) Hi, I have run into a problem using "R CMD INSTALL" with the "--with-package-versions" option under Windows. It is a bit obscure, which could explain why other people have not run into it. We happen to have two packages with almost the same name. One name is a subset of

survreg and pweibull
Dear all - I have followed the thread the reply to which was lead by Thomas Lumley about using pweibull to generate fitted survival curves for survreg models. http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/04/11/7766.html Using the lung data set, data(lung) lung.wbs <- survreg( Surv(time, status)~ 1, data=lung, dist='weibull') curve(pweibull(x, scale=exp(coef(lung.wbs)),

Problem with foreign package
I tried to use write.foreign() to export to SAS this morning and got an error. When I looked at the code for writeForeignSAS() I saw this line: dfn < -df which I think should be dfn <- df So, I tried to run update.packages() to see if there was an updated version and got the following result. > update.packages(c("foreign")) Warning message: In list.files(lib) :

bug? nls and "[" indexing
Dear all I just encountered a strange problem with nls formula. I tried to use nls in cycle but I was not successful. I traced the problem to some parse command. Here is an example > DF<-data.frame(x=1:10, y=3*x^.5+rnorm(10)) > coef(lm(log(DF[,2])~log(DF[,1]))) (Intercept) log(DF[, 1]) 0.7437320 0.6831726 # this works > coef(nls(y~a*x^b, data=DF, start=list(a=3, b=.7)))

Clustering with Mahalanobis Distance
Dear R ExpeRts, I'm having memory difficulties using mahalanobis distance to trying to cluster in R. I was wondering if anyone has done it with a matrix of 6525x17 (or something similar to that size). I have a matrix of 6525 genes and 17 samples. I have my R memory increased to the max and am still getting "cannot allocate vector of size" errors. My matrix "x" is

DESCRIPTION/OS_type and OS X
R Extensions (Section 1.1.1, and using the 2.9.2 version) says The optional `OS_type' field specifies the OS(es) for which the package is intended. If present, it should be one of `unix' or `windows', and indicates that the package should only be installed on a platform with `.Platform$OS.type' having that value. and I am wondering if 'OS_type: unix' includes
