PCI serial card works on 6.2 but not on 6.3
We have upgraded a box from 6.2 to 6.3-RELEASE. Afterwards the box does not
recognize its ST Lab I-160 serial card with Netmos 9845 Chipset. It worked
flawlessly on 6.2 with puc(4) driver.

Sorting data from one column with strings
Hello,
I have tried to find this out some other way, but unsuccessful I have to
try this list.
I assume this should be quite simple.
I have a dataset with 4 columns, "Sample_no", "Species", "Nitrogen",
"Carbon" in csv format. In the species column I have many different
species with varying number of obs per species
Eg
"Sample_no"

mixing different modes of lty line type specification in legend() ?
Hi List,
is sth. like the following possible:
legend(x,y,c("A","B","C"), lty=list(1,"42","11")) ?
Or: is there a possibility to define a solid line using the "string" mode for lty?
Thanks

atlas for R1.1.1 and R1.2 different?
Dear R'ers,
when I e.g. install the integrate2.2-2 package under R1.1.1 (debian2.2)
atlas is linked into the library:

POLYGON: fill pattern instead of colors?
Hello all,
I'm using R1.2.2 and wonder whether there is already
a new (unofficial) version that supports fill patterns
for polygon().
thanks

using browser() in complex programs - where am I?
Dear all,
is there an easy way to know at which position in the source code
browser() (or stop()) was called? This seems to be important for me when
I try
to debug a program (e.g. using options(error=quote(dump.frames())))
traceback() returns some information, but I miss something like a line
number, e.g. "stopped at line 999 in foo.R".

still problem with installation of locfit on DEC alphaev56-dec-osf4.0d
Dear all,
after building the R-1.1.1 from source on our alpha everything
seems to work, but locfit still hangs...
I installed locfit with install.packages(...),
the installation process went fine, but calling locfit() blocks the
R environment.
Has anybody got an idea howto get to the roots of this problem?
Thanks

Dell problems with PXELINUX 3.62
Hello.
We've been using a very old version of SYS-/PXELINUX, 3.36, going by the
proven "if it works, don't break it" philosophy. We us it mostly to load
floppy disk images to kick off OS installations.
Unfortunately we've recently had some PXE menu problems (USB keyboard
stopped working) for a certain Fujitsu PC model, and decided to upgrade
to the latest version, i e 3.84.

Dell problems with PXELINUX 3.62
Good day again Daniel,
So the first thing I did was to remove the >NUL for your XMSDSK line and
put a PAUSE after it in AUTOEXEC.BAT. That way, I could see the error
message:
*** XMS RAMdisk v1.9I (FU - 08/98): XMS get free mem error.
Then I noticed that if you run AUTOEXEC.BAT manually from the DOS CLI,
XMSDSK actually succeeds! So that led to a new test: Duplicate the
XMSDSK line.

Passing a workspace file as argument
What is the best way (if possible) to pass the name of a workspace file to R
when it starts so it is loaded instead of .RData ?
I would like to know this for Linux and windows version. For windows I would
like to associate the .RData extension so doubleclicking the file starts R
and loads it.
Thanks

maximum of nsize=20000k ??
Dear R-ers,
somehow it is not possible to increase nsize to more than
20000k. When I specify e.g.
> R --vsize=10M --nsize=21000K
the result is:
free total (Mb)
Ncells 99658 350000 6.7
Vcells 1219173 1310720 10.0
Maybe I have overlooked s.th....
