CentOS 7 issues with pdf manual / tex conversion
On a CentOS 7 machine, I am at a loss with respect to an inability to run a full R CMD check as anything involving tex files ends in tears. We followed the README at CRAN and installed a large number of tex-live packages on this machine. But when a manual is created, we end up with what follows below. Here, I chopped some of the error messages, the key seems to be 'Insufficient extension

issue with Rd2pdf and \Sexpr in Rd files
Hi, The following command: R CMD Rd2pdf --no-preview --output=./tmp.pdf --title=test genefu-package.Rd run against this file: https://hedgehog.fhcrc.org/bioconductor/trunk/madman/Rpacks/genefu/man/genefu-package.Rd (username: readonly; password: readonly) produces a very verbose error (see below) with R version 2.15.0 alpha (2012-03-07 r58622). The .Rd file has these lines in it: Version: \tab

running 'make' failed during vignette creation ('R CMD build') on Windows
Hi, This is a follow-up to the problem reported here: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2010-September/058460.html After I updated R-2.12 to 2010-09-13 r52905 on the Bioc build system, some of the packages that have a Makefile in <pkg>/inst/doc still don't build on Windows. For example, 'R\bin\R.exe CMD build adSplit' gives: * checking for file

Sweave files generating miktex errors
Dear useRs-- I have been using Sweave with miktex for years, but on a new install on Windows XP, miktex seems to be hung up on single quotes. See example below. Digging through stackexchange, I found using \usepackage[noae]{Sweave} in the tex file solved the problem. My questions are: --Why would this happen? I have the ae package installed. --If inserting [noae] is the solution, how do I

Windows problem related to using shortPathName for Sweave style file
In the process of updating R to R 2.7 alpha or R 2.7 beta for the BioConductor 2.2 builds on Windows, I have hit a snag because the BioC build system has long path names (e.g. D:\biocbld\bbs-2.2-bioc\R) and these path names are not resolving properly by MiKTeX 2.7 during vignette construction. Take, for example, the attached vignette from Biobase, Bioconductor.Rnw. I have built R from source

latex warning
Dear all, I am getting an R CMD check warning about the PDF manual. I am having a hard time finding out what is wrong, here is the log of the Rd2pdf call. The full check (and other) log is at https://api.travis-ci.org/jobs/46373922/log.txt?deansi=true if anybody is interested, and the package itself is here: https://github.com/metacran/r-builder/tree/bintex/rbuildertest Thanks, Best, Gabor

Suggestion / patch to support more Unicode characters in R CMD Rd2pdf
Hi list, When using R CMD Rd2pdf, it is possible to set environment variable RD2PDF_INPUTENC to value "inputenx" and enjoy better support for UTF-8 characters (see ?Rd2pdf). This enables LaTeX package "inputenx" instead of "inputenc". Even better support for UTF-8 encoded characters can be had by better using the facilities provided by inputenx and making R CMD

wine internet explorer
Hi I did enter into the forum using the Wine Internet Explorer, offering me to enter into the WineHQ home page after I did open the program. Oh! The orthography control is build in! Fine... And an selections window opens by clicking on the right mouse key! Ok really fine. But I see no way to enter new url's, select favories and enter new dictionaries. I find that the usage of the WIE is not

R-3.6.2 make check fails
I am trying to build the latest version of R (3.6.2) on a CentOS system running 7.7.1908. I have been able to build previous versions of R up to and including 3.5.3 successfully. Starting with 3.6.0 the "make check" step fails with errors relating to "pdflatex" being missing. So, I installed texlive-latex (and the 100 other rpm dependencies) then tried rebuilding R.

Locating MiKTeX
I came across this program to locate MiKTeX file: http://docs.miktex.org/2.7/sdk/findfile_8cpp-example.html If the exe of this were included with R then it seems it might provide a reliable way to locate MiKTeX which we don't currently have since AFAIK there is no adequate registry key for MiKTeX. Since its a tiny program it would not substantially affect the R download. (There is also a

Converting from encapsulated postscript to encapsulated pdf
I have several old encapsulated postscript graphics generated by R that I want to include in a LaTeX Beamer presentation so I want them in pdf. Under Ubuntu linux typing convert z.eps z.pdf (to use ImageMagick) results in a nice looking graphic but the bounding box is lost. Doing convert z.eps z.epdf results in a fuzzy image with a good bounding box. Does anyone have a nice solution?
