thumbs up or down on ext3 with md?
I've read through the archives and it looks like people are using ext3
with software RAID with at least some success. I just want to confirm
that it works properly. If I convert my md RAID 0 to ext3, should I
expect
A) A fast journalled filesystem, or
B) Wailing and gnashing of teeth
My RAID currently does not use persistant superblocks, because I created
it many moons ago under the old

Do software raids don't dance Samba?
Hey all,
well, first of all (even if it's quite late as it's in version 3.0.7 already): thanks a lot to all who
are developing and supporting Samba! I'm new to Linux and I really like the way things
are happening on this OS. But now, I've reached a point where I have to raise the white
flag...
It seems to me like - at least my - software raid can't dance Samba. I've got

ext3 and Software RAID-5: issue ?
Hello !
I have been playing around with a new machine, RH7.2, ext3 and software
RAID-5.
Once in a while, the machine hangs, no message, and the only thing which
works is the physical reset button.
I have checked whatever I could from FAQs, HOWTOs and did not find the
problem. How shall I go about it ?
the only thing I have noticed is that 3 out of the 7 disks are on UDMA33, the
other ones

ext3, S/W RAID-5 and many services
Hi !
I use ext3 over Software RAID-5, and access this through Samba/NFS/HTTP.
From time to time, the machine hangs, no response to any kind of
input (ping does not respond, nor keyboard/mouse). Only hard-reset does
the trick.
I also notices that 2 of the 7 disks are in UDMA 33, the others in UDMA
100. Does this have any impact ? (besides performance)
If I do not mount the ext3 partition,

Newbie Question
Dear All,
I have installed Red Hat Enterprise 3 on one Intel-32 bit machine. I
have
installed all systemimager/systeminstaller/flamethrower RPMS that machine. I
would like to install OS through PXE boot on another Athlon machine.
When I execute mkssimage for creating a image master
# mksiimage --Add --name image1 --path
/var/lib/systemimager/images/image1 --filename

Guide to stripping Centos 3
I responded to a post in the Dell poweredge mailing list
earlier today. My answer was off the top of my head, with a
bit of experimentation. The content may be useful in the
Cenyos context as well to admin's looking to strip the size of
an install to the bare bones.
Comment welcomed. Can anyone see any packages which I have
missed?

SAMBA 3.0 joining Domain fails with SuSE rpm's
Hello,
I'm not sure if it's a bug - or I'm just too stupid..!?
Downloaded the Samba beta-code from ftp.suse.com/gd - rpm's for SuSE 8.2 (03/06/22). Installed all packages with no problems - samba works well, but integration in a W2K Domain fails. Kinit is successful but joining a domain brings up the following errors.
