Callbacks seems to get GCed.
Dear list, I am trying to implement a publish-subscribe mechanism in for an embedded R interpreter. But somehow my registered closures seem to get collected by the GC, even though I have protected them. I have reducted my code to the following sample. Sorry if it is a little verbose. The first couple of call of calls still work, but at some point one of the callbacks (callback1 in my

Parsing code with newlines
Dear List, When I try to parse code containing newline characters with R_ParseVector, I get a compilation error. How can I compile code that includes comments and newlines? I am using the following: void* my_compile(char *code) { SEXP cmdSexp, cmdExpr = R_NilValue; ParseStatus status; PROTECT (cmdSexp = allocVector (STRSXP, 1)); SET_STRING_ELT (cmdSexp, 0, mkChar (code));

Parallel R expression evaluations
Hi all, I am using R-3.0.1 under Linux platform to embed R into my C++ code. I am facing an error while executing more than 1 R-expressions parallelly. I am executing round(X) and abs(X) parallelly on a set of 50 input rows which resulted in segmentation fault after getting the following errors. Error: unprotect_ptr: pointer not found Error: argument to 'findVar' is not an environment

Crash in R using embedded.
Hi, I'm new to R, and am trying to embed R into another application. I'm calling gev.fit() from the ismev package, and it is crashing somewhere inside it. gdb is not catching it, and valgrind is not showing any memory corruption issues. I suspect it's memory corruption, because it doesn't crash in exactly the same spot each time. I'm running R 2.12.2 on a 64 bit linux (Ubuntu

Running an expression 1MN times using embedded R
Hello, I'm evaluating this expression expression({ for(x in 1:5){ .Call('rh_status','x') }}) a million times from a program with R embedded in it. setting the seed in standalone code using Rlib
Hi, Is the below -- setSeed -- an okay way to set the seed in standalone applications making use of Rlib? It seems to work as expected. Is there a better way to do it? (I'm also looking at do_setseed but am unsure what to supply as op. findFun("set.seed", R_GlobalEnv)?) Thanks much. -- David Faden, dfaden at iastate.edu AIM: pitulx -- #include <assert.h> #include

suggestion of new API function for embedded programming.
While doing some embedded programming and trying to figure out how to generate a hand coded SEXP equivalent of the line "t.test(x,conf.level=(1-p))$conf.int[2]" I had an idea for an addition to the embedded API. There are a number of hidden or static parse functions (R_ParseBuffer, R_Parse1Buffer, etc.) which take an IoBuffer* and returns a parsed tree. If one or more of these

R callbacks
Hi, I'm trying to understand (mostly from the R-exts manual) how to use the callbacks declared in Rinterface.h. As a first attempt, I'm trying to redefine ptr_R_WriteConsole in a very trivial manner. Here's my code: --------------- $ cat altr.c int Rf_initialize_R(int ac, char **av); #define R_INTERFACE_PTRS 1 #include <Rinterface.h> extern int R_running_as_main_program;

How to set R_CStackLimit
Hi, I have tried to disable stack checking by set R_CStackLimit to -1. However, it always crashes my win32 multiple threads program. I am using R-2.5.0. My code looks like: #include <Rversion.h> #if (R_VERSION >= R_Version(2,3,0)) #define R_INTERFACE_PTRS 1 #define CSTACK_DEFNS 1 #include <Rinterface.h> #endif and then, add below line to my main function: R_CStackLimit =

Evaluating R expressions from C

Problem compiling R library on FC4 ( conflicting declaration in Rinterface.h and stdint.h)

Making parent.env<- an error for package namespaces and package imports
I'd like to propose a change to the R language so that calling 'parent.env<-' on a package namespace or package imports is a runtime error. Currently the documentation warns that it's dangerous behaviour and might go away: The replacement function ?parent.env<-? is extremely dangerous as it can be used to destructively change environments in ways that violate

Plot window does not update in embedded code
Dear list, I am trying to embed R into a C++ program. After some tinkering, reading the documentation and browsing the source code I have this more or less working. A very very condensed and very simplified version of the code is included below. The program can create plots. However, after the plot is initially drawn it is no longer updated. When scaling or updating the plot the window becomes

Create sequential vector for values in another column

[truncated] And I'd like to create a second vector of sequential values (i.e., 1:N) for each unique id.name value. In other words, I need id.name x 123.45 1 123.45

simple reshape of a large data frame (reshape() runs out of memory)
Hello everyone, I'm having a problem performing reshape() on a large data frame. The operation is fairly trivial but it makes R run out of memory. The data frame has the following structure: ID DATE1 DATE2 VALTYPE VALUE 'abcd1233' 2009-11-12 2009-12-23 'TYPE1' 123.45 ... VALTYPE is a string and is a factor with

[Rcpp-devel] Setting the R random seed from Rcpp
This would be easier if base::set.seed() accepted a value of .Random.seed instead of just a scalar integer or, new to R-3.0.0, NULL. If set.seed() returned the previous value of .Random.seed (NULL if there was no previous value) things might be even easier. People should not have to know where .Random.seed is stored. S+'s set.seed() accepts a value of .Random.seed but does not return the

copying promise
1. Is there some way to copy a promise so that the copy has the same expression in its promise as the original. In the following we y is a promise that we want to copy to z. We want z to be a promise based on the expression x since y is a promise based on the expression x. Thus the answer to the code below is desired to be z=2 but its 1, 1 and y in the next three examples so they are not the
