Rmpi on Linux (SuSE) with OpenMPI
Guys,
I'm having troubles with Rmpi on Linux. I got it to work on windows, but on
Linux (SuSE 64 bit), using OpenMPI, I can't seem to get it to work :(
When I do library(Rmpi) I get the warning:

(ignored)
Interestingly enough all the examples from the snow tutorial (
http://www.sfu.ca/~sblay/R/snow.html) work despite

Problems with snowfall
Guys,
Is anyone using snowfall? It seems that the last version is broken. sfinit

config <- as.list(configM)
names(config) <- dimnames(configM)[[2]]

prblems changing directory in mpi snow clusters
Dear R Users,
I am attempting to use snow with rmpi.
My configuration is:
- R Version 2.7.2, rmpi
- RMPI 0.5-6
- DeinoMPI 1.1.0
- Windows Xp SP2
I can sucessfully create a cluster and execute simple commands but for
some reason, I cannot change the working directory in my nodes.

experinental revision of the 'snow' package
A new version of the 'snow' package for parallel computing in R is
available at
http://www.stat.uiowa.edu/~luke/R/cluster/snow_0.3-3.tar.gz
This substantially revises the way in which worker processes are
started to allow snow to be used on Windows and Mac/Windows/Linux
combinations. I have successfully used the SOCK version on a
standalone Windows machine and combinations of

Multicore computation in Windows network: How to set up Rmpi
R-users,
My question is related to earlier posts about benefits of quadcore over
dualcore computers; I am trying to setup a cluster of windows xp
computers so that eventually I could make use of 10-20 cpu:s, but for
learning how to do this, I am playing around with two laptops.
I thought that the package snow would come handy in this situation, but
to use snow, I would probably need to install

Help with makeClusters for Snow
Hi Everybody,
I know that R has snow package which can be used for Parallel Computing.
However, every time I try making a cluster, the only type of cluster I'm
able to make is the "SOCK" (that too because I disabled the firewalls). For
the rest (i.e. MPI, NWS, and PVM), I get error every time I try making one.
I get the following errors

I run the following and then resize the window:

Problems with Rmpi and LAM 7.1.4
Guys,
I'm running LAM 7.1.4 and R/Rmpi on a SuSE 9.3 box.
When I do
>library(Rmpi)
The whole thing crashes with the following message:

No SSI RPI modules said that they were available to run.
This should only happen if you request an MPI thread level that is too
high (for example, none of the SSI RPI modules

R on a computer cluster
Dear all,
I usually run R on my laptop with Windows XP Professional.
Now I really want to run R on a computer cluster (4 processors) with
Suse Linux Enterprise ver. 10. But I am new with computer cluster.
Should I modify my functions in order to use the greater
performance
and availability than that provided by my laptop?
Is there any R

smb.conf Parameters
Hi,
I am looking at upgrading our existing Samba installs to 2.2.8
Some of the installations contain the parameter "shared mem size" in the
smb.conf file. This parameter does not appear to be available in ver 2.2.8.
Is there an alternative parameter or is this now defunct?

R with MPI
Hello, I plan to use R with my cluster with OpenMPI.
I need the packaged 'snow' and 'Rmpi' for that, however, I get an error
while downloading and installing them:
When I do a:

I get this error:

snow/rmpi using deinompi question
Dear R Users,
I have set-up:
- R 2.7.2
- rmpi using deinoMPI, and
- snpw
on two Windows XP machines. I would like to use the
makeCluster(...,"MPI") command to create a cluster. Assume the machines
are A and B. I would like the master to be on A and the nodes to be on B.
How do I achieve this outcome ?
I can see both machines using the DeinoMPI GUI.
Thanks in advance,
Tolga

loading libraries on MPI cluster
Dear R-users,
we are using library(snow) for computation on a linux cluster with RMPI.
We have a problem with clusterEvalQ: after launching clusterEvalQ it seems
loading the required library on each node but if we type a function
belonging to the loaded package R doesn't find it.

I am trying to utilize my dual core processor (and later a

the "cluster" on my dual core computer. Whenever I try to initialize
it (via sfInit(parallel=TRUE, cpus=2) or mpi.spawn.Rslaves(nslaves=2)
), I get an error message:
