beta symbol cut off in y axis label using jpeg/png/tiff
I am having trouble showing the Greek symbol "beta" correctly in the y-axis label of bitmap plots. Specifically, on my system the top of the "beta" symbol is cut off using the following example: file.jpg <- paste(tempfile(), ".jpg", sep = "") jpeg(file.jpg, h = 3, w = 3, units = "in", res = 300, type = "Xlib") boxplot(rnorm(10),

Raster images and saving with original pixel dimensions in tiff, jpeg, or png perferablly.
Hello R-Help, I want to be able to read in a raster image, plot it with grid.raster or rasterImage and save the image with one pixel per a pixel element from my array. Saved preferably in a common image format. The real goal of my question is to eventually read in images with text on them, manipulate them with my controlled functions, save them without changing the image dimensions, and perform

display SVG, PNG, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, PPM in new plot frame
Dear R-help I want to display an image file in a new plot frame. SVG is my preferred format, but I can also consider PNG, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, and PPM (from ImageMagick). By way of background (although not material to this posting), the image file is generated by a call to 'dot' (part of the 'Graphviz' suite) after the required .dot file has been produced using hand-crafted R code.

how to save a heatmap.2 in png /jpeg /tiff
Hey, I am still working on my heat map (for those who are read my previous post about row.names)… Now, I would like to save my heat map.2 in .png or .tiff in order being able to work on the picture in photoshop, but it doesn't work. I'am using (as I have found on some forum) > png("heatmap.2.png) # and it just doesn't work. when I try doing it with::

Is libtiff >= 4.0.0 now required by R for TIFF support?
We recently discovered that since R 3.3.0, on our CentOS 6 based cluster, R gets built without TIFF support. The last version where TIFF support was built, was 3.2.5. We have libtiff 3.9.4 installed: $ rpm -q libtiff-devel libtiff-devel-3.9.4-21.el6_8.x86_64 (Since CentOS 6 is so old, we have manually installed newer versions of some dependencies: curl 7.46.0, zlib 1.2.8, bzip2 1.0.6, xz 5.2.2

problem with lattice tiff or bitmap: character size and color
Hi all, I am trying to make tiff files of lattice plots at a resolution greater than 300 dpi required by a journal (PLoS ONE). I have tried both the tiff and bitmap functions. tiff keeps panel colors but reduces axes and tick labels so they are nearly invisible. bitmap maintains correct label size but only produces greyscale. Regular plots work fine with tiff; the problem is only with lattice

png(type='cairo'): point symbols without boarders are not anti-aliased?
Hi, It seems that anti-aliasing in png(type = 'cairo') is not well supported for the point symbols without boarders, e.g. pch = 16. The Cairo package works well, though. You can compare png() with CairoPNG(): png(): http://i.imgur.com/8niB3jX.png CairoPNG(): http://i.imgur.com/FZBJOxm.png f = function(dev, ..., main = '') { dev(...) plot(c(1, 2, 1, 2), c(1, 1, 2, 2),

Saving multiple 3x3 TIFF graphics inside a loop
Dear Friends, I have been trying to save multiple 3x3 (mfrow=c(3,3) graphics inside a loop using tiff figure format (not using PDF or savePlot functions) with no success. Could you please help? Here is a simplified example code: dat=data.frame (ID=rep(1:10,each=10),IDV=rep(seq(1:10),times=10)) dat$DV <- with(dat, 50+15*IDV) dat=dat[order(dat$ID,dat$IDV),] for(i in 1:10){ dt1 =

New version of X11, png and jpeg
R-devel has new versions of the X11(), png() and jpeg() devices on Unix-alikes. The intention is that these are used identically to the previous versions (which remain available) but will produce higher-quality output with more features. Pros: Antialiasing of text and lines (can be turned off) but no blurring of fills. Buffering of the X11 display and fast repainting from a backing image.

empty files created with trellis xyplot jpeg device
New years greetings. I have been setting up a function to generate multiple jpeg charts. When the calls are issued at the interactive console, the jpeg files are generated without an issue. When I try to issue the same calls from a function, some chart files are empty. It appears to only be related to trellis charts. Any help to troubleshoot this is appreciated. Regards, -mike R version

Non-zero exit status for survival package
I'm running R 2.11 on Karmic. I'm having difficulty installing quite a few packages with the returned error message of "installation of package "[whatever the packages happens to be]" had non-zero exit status. I know this message sometimes is caused by incorrect or missing java packages and the like. I generally don't have issues with the installation of R or R packages
