One problem solved and a new one to consider...
Solved the original problem I wrote in about with a combination of r-cran downloads through Synaptic and downloads from one of the mirror sites. Things worked out well. Using the ctv package I pulled in the contents of the Finance view. Not clear which one, but one of the packages called up RDCOMClient as an apparent dependency. Not showing up as an r-cran file or on any of the mirrors

<RBloomberg Package Problem>
Hi R-Experts, I'm currently using R 2.4.0 in Windows XP. I'm trying to download data from Bloomberg using the package "RBloomberg", but it fails to install the three needed packages "zoo", "chron" and 'Rbloomberg". Moreover I am not able to find "RBloomberg" package as windows binary in CRAN site as only for MAC it's given. Please

DESCRIPTION/OS_type and OS X
R Extensions (Section 1.1.1, and using the 2.9.2 version) says The optional `OS_type' field specifies the OS(es) for which the package is intended. If present, it should be one of `unix' or `windows', and indicates that the package should only be installed on a platform with `.Platform$OS.type' having that value. and I am wondering if 'OS_type: unix' includes

RBloomberg on R-2.12.0
Dear R Users, Tried to install RBloomberg with R-2.12.0 and appears RDComclient has not been built for this version of R, so failed. I then tried to get RBloombergs' Java API version to work, but ran into problems with RJava which does not appear to exist for Windows. My platform is Windows XP SP3. Will RDcomclient be built for R-2.12.0 anytime soon ? Does a version of RBloomberh with a

Problem with RBloomberg (not the usual one)
Hello, everyone! I have a problem with RBloomberg and this is not the usual "no administrator rights" problem. I have R 2.7.2, RBloomberg 0.1-10, RDCOMclient 0.92-0 RDCOMClient, chron, zoo, stats: these packages load OK. Then, trying to connect, I get following error message: conn <- blpConnect(show.days="week", na.action="previous.days",

RBloomberg on Mac Leopard
Hi, I'm running R 2.10.1 GUI 1.31 Leopard build 64-bit (5537). I cannot install RBloomberg on my Mac. After I type: install.packages("RBloomberg", repos="http://R-Forge.R-project.org") I get the following message: Warning in install.packages("RBloomberg", repos = "http://R-Forge.R-project.org") : argument 'lib' is missing: using

difftime / RBloomberg
hi, I've troubles with some difftime objects. e.g. ISOdate(2001, 4, 26) - ISOdate(2001, 2, 26) - 2 works, telling me "Time difference of 57 days". But when I'd like to add days, such as ISOdate(2001, 4, 26) - ISOdate(2001, 2, 26) + 2 the function gives me an error. Function "as.COMDate.chron" of the Rbloomberg package doesn't work for that reason. I'm

Programming Tools CTV
Hi all, Sorry if this doesn't end up in the thread. Tobias Verbeke forwarded that e-mail to me, because he thought I would be interested in maintaining the Programming Tools CTV. I wasn't subscribed to R-devel yet, but I would indeed like to volunteer to maintain the Programming Tools CTV. It will be my first time creating a CTV, so some guidance on getting it setup will be appreciated.

[PATCH] daemon: consider /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf while inspecting mountpoints.
From: Nikolay Ivanets <stenavin@gmail.com> Inspection code checks /etc/mdadm.conf to map MD device paths listed in mdadm.conf to MD device paths in the guestfs appliance. However on some operating systems (e.g. Ubuntu) mdadm.conf has alternative location: /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf. This patch consider an alternative location of mdadm.conf as well. --- daemon/inspect_fs_unix_fstab.ml | 13

[PATCH] inspect: use check_tests also for detecting Hurd
Even though the list of checks is very short, at least this migrates from imperative checks to a "declarative" one. There should be no behaviour change, other than using os-release if it contains all the needed information. --- daemon/inspect_fs_unix.ml | 19 ++++++++++++------- 1 file changed, 12 insertions(+), 7 deletions(-) diff --git a/daemon/inspect_fs_unix.ml

vorbize and os_type patches + general build issues
Howdy.. I've got a couple little patches here. 1. vorbis-tools needs getopt. Since it's already sitting in the source tree for cmdline I set up cmdline to make a getopt.a that gets used for both. Also, since mp3tovorbis is a shell script, it needs to be installed 755 not 711 (unless I'm missing something). 2. I've found that both tru64 and irix 5.3 won't give int64_t

Dear Willem, Personally, I use the R-forge project for the distribution CTV : https://r-forge.r-project.org/projects/ctv/ It?s an alternative option to github. Makefile vs Makevars vs configure
Apologies in advance for the long post. I'm currently using a Makefile to build my shared library. Pursuant to the R-exts manual, I'd like to switch to a Makevars file or a configure file if necessary. Having never used these types of make utilities before, I'm a bit lost. My package is quite simple. It only has one source file and one header: excelpoi.cpp excelpoi.h The reason I

I'd strongly second the notion of using github. The biggest advantage is that others can easily contribute changes through pull requests which lifts much of the burden from your shoulders. [PATCH] inspect: fix inspection of partition-less devices (RHBZ#1661038)
When parsing "xdev"-kind devices, do not assume that the partition number can be converted to integer: re_xdev accepts an empty part of the partition number, so just handle as it is, as string. This fixes a regression due to the conversion of the inspection code to OCaml, as the old C version did not have this issue. --- daemon/inspect_fs_unix_fstab.ml | 6 +++--- 1 file changed, 3
