Time series analysis with irregular time-series
Dear R users
I am currently investigating time series analysis using an irregular time series. Our study is looking at vegetation change in areas of alien vegetation growth after clearing events. The irregular time series is sourced from Landsat ETM+ data, over a six year period I have 38 scenes. For certain periods I have monthly data while for others, images are up to three months apart. So far

STL - time series seasonal decomposition sensitive to data points?
Hi all,
I am trying to analyse a time series data and want to make
trend-season decomposition using STL approach in R. However I found
the decomposition result seems to be sensitive to data points even
with the robust option.
More specifically, suppose I have a few years of monthly data. Using
stl, I got a decomposition T1 + S1 + R1. Then I deleted the most
recent two or three data points, the

Extracting windows from time series
Dear R Users
Thanks for the help in advance and lets get straight to the problem:
I have a 400 year long temperature time series and I am looking for decades that show a linear trend decrease of approximately -0.1 Kelvin or degrees. --> What I would like to program: A loop/function / command line that prints the values of all the trends (can also be overlapping) into a matrix that could have

Time Series - Trend Line
How can I had a trend line to my plot?
My data looks like this:
Date=seq(as.Date("1910/1/1"), as.Date("1920/1/1"), "day")
Values=runif(length(Date), min=-5, max=5)
dataset=data.frame(Values,as.Date(Date))
I just want to add a linear trend line to this
plot(dataset,col=rgb(1,0,0,1/8),cex=0.5,pch=19)

How to apitalize leading letters & else of personal names?
Dear R world,
Do you know about a function that would capitalize in the correct manner
first and family names?
I found in the cwhmisc only the CapLeading function, but it just does not do
the job, taking care only to capitalize the first letter of a word.
I am looking for a function that would recognize " |'|Mc|-" and capitalize
the first letter following these characters.

Multiple plots on one device using stl
G'day,
I am looking at monthly reports, and have three series of monthly data from 2007 to 2009. I would like to show the season decomposition of these two series side by side on the one device, however using plot doesn't seem to respect any use of layout(matrix(1:3, ncol=3)) or par(mfcol=c(1,3)).
I'm guessing that this means that the plot(stl) perhaps uses them, but I can't find

Seven month time-series sampled at hourly intervals
I have data from several sensors that recorded data at hourly intervals
during seven months. I want to separate daily variation from the trend,
and also be able to zoom in on only one month of data.
I have not been able what functions to use, I can not figure out from
the help for 'ts' how to use hourly data.
I guess this is routine-work for a lot of people so I hope someone can

STRUCCHANGE DETECTING BREAKPOINTS IN A TIME SERIES
HI
i'm trying to detect breaks points in various flow time series, they all
contains seasonality and trend
my question is :
i have to remove this seasonality and trend before apply the function
breakpoints du package strucchange??
another question, the function breakpoints is similar to de Pettit tests ?
or how does it realy works?
THANKS!!!!

time-series trend classification
Hello everyone,
I was looking for a way to classify time-series based on the curve-fit. I try to campute several trends so i was thinking to link each trend with a function. increase with exponential for example, increase and decrease with a gaussian etc. The possiblities are endless though and it seems that is not always working well, especially if you work on small time-series (of 5-10 points

ow to apply a panel function to each of several data series plotted on the same graph in lattice
Hi
is it possible to fit a trend line (or some other panel function) through each of multiple data series plotted on the same graph? Specifically, while one can do something like
xyplot(a+b+c~x)
which plots three series, a,b & c, but can one automatically fit lines through each of them?
I suppose one could generate three more variables afit, bfit, and cfit with a model & predict and

time series tests
Hi all,
Can anyone clear my doubts about what conclusions to take with the following what puts of some time series tests:
> adf.test(melbmax)
Augmented Dickey-Fuller Test
data: melbmax
Dickey-Fuller = -5.4075, Lag order = 15, p-value = 0.01
alternative hypothesis: stationary
Warning message:
p-value smaller than printed p-value in: adf.test(melbmax)

How does "apply.monthly" function works (xts package)
Hi everybody.
I use to work with monthly data, however this is my first time working with
weekly data.
I have 4 data bases with monthly data and 1 with weekly data, so I want to
convert my weekly to monthly data in order to have the same periodicity in
all of them.
I've read that package xts can help me with this issue, so I have done the

From daily series to monthly and viceversa
I have the following daily exchange rate series (from january 1st 1996 to
december 31st 2008) and I want to obtain them monthly series from it. I've
read about the 'zoo' library but I'm not getting it how to do it. These are

Magnitude of trend in time series
Hello,
I am analyzing some climate time series data using the Mann Kendall package
and was wondering if there was a way to calculate the trend using Sen's
nonparametric estimator slope in R?
Thank you in advance,
Barry

Time Series Issues, Stationarity ..
Hello,
I am very new to R and Time Series. I need some help including R codes
about the following issues. I' ll really appreciate any number of
answers...

myinput = c(n1,n2...,n24);
# In order to make a forecasting a, I use the following codes
result1 = arima(ts(myinput),order = c(p,d,q),seasonal = list(order=c(P,D,Q)))

Plotting Time Series Data by Month
Hi,
I have a dataset which includes monthly data for 17 years. I want to be able
to see the monthly data behavior for the period of all 17 years.
What my data looks like:

I would like to represent the data in a graph such as the one below:

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
