error message from lmer
Hi,
I've begun to use the lme4 package, rather than nlme, for more flexibility
during modelling, and running the examples in lmer I receive this error
message:

How to see data for a package built under Windows
I have followed the instructions on how to build a Windows package and
everything seems to work EXCEPT that I can't see the data files that I have
loaded into the data directory. I have placed the appropriate data in the
data directory (as in the instructions). There are 3 data sets, which I can
see when I use the command in R. Details below. I have searched everywhere
to try to fix this, but

issue with base:::namespaceImportMethods
Hi,
I've noticed an issue with S4 methods and namespaces which only arises in
particular, difficult to reproduce configurations. One example is the ggbio
package in Bioconductor, which currently emits these warnings when its
namespace is loaded:
----------------------
library(ggbio)
Loading required package: ggplot2
Attaching package: ‘ggbio’

Possible problem with namespaceImportFrom() and methods for generic primitive functions
Hi all,
I have a problem with a package that imports two other packages which both
export a method for the `[` primitive function.
I set up a reproducible example here:
https://github.com/kforner/namespaceImportFrom_problem.git
Basically, the testPrimitiveImport package imports testPrimitiveExport1 and
testPrimitiveExport2, which both export a S4 class and a `[` method for the
class.
Then:

R 2.0.0: namespaces, S4 classes & versioned package installation: failure to resolve correct pkg version
Hi,
further down from the problem I asked about yesterday I encounter the following
problem (please appologize for the lengthy mail - I have not found a brief example
making the issue clear):
- using R packages making use of namespaces &
- S4 classes
when using
--with-package-versions in the install call:
Pkgs install ok and the first pkg 'base' can be loaded in R

nlme & SASmixed in 2.0.1
I assigned a class the first problem in Pinheiro & Bates, which uses the
data set PBIB from the SASmixed package. I have recently downloaded
2.0.1 and its associated packages. On trying

library(nlme)
plot(PBIB)
I get a warning message

Dear members,
I can't install "nser" package. It is not in cran but install_version and install_github both are not working:

out of colors in Mclust with 12 clusters
I'm running Mclust 3.0 in R-2.7.0 and have run into a situation where
the optimal number of clusters, 12, seems to be greater than the number
of colors available to Mclust. The code below, which demonstrates
errors, does not if the max no of clusters is set at 10. sessionInfo,
after a restart of R and loading of packages, follows the output.
Is this a known problem with Mclust? Can I

S4 Generics and NAMESPACE : justified warning ?
Dear list,
It seems that a package (pkgB) using another package (pkgA) with S4
generics formed by taking existing functions (for example 'plot') must
not import the existing functions ('plot') in its namespace to avoid
the warning "replacing previous import: plot".
Suppose we use the simple 'import' directive in the name space of
pkgB.
pkgA and pkgB files would

can't install nser...
It says that nser requires the most recent version of magrittr that you do
not have installed. You must update magrittr before attempting to install
nser:
update.packages(oldPkgs = "magrittr")
or at the prompt you were presented before, choose to update magrittr
before installing nser.

Make error while installing R 2.6.1 on GNU/linux
Hello there,
I am having trouble installing R-2.6.1 on GNU/linux.
Here is how I configure and run it:
./configure --with-x=no --enable-R-shlib
make
The configure step is uneventful, the tail end of make follows. Does anyone have any experience with that?
Thanks a lot in advance for any suggestions.

fractional seconds in POSIXct
Hi,
Using the following simple character vector representing a time series
with fractional seconds:
datetime <- c("20/09/2011 13:00:59.00", "20/09/2011 13:00:59.02",
"20/09/2011 13:00:59.04")
Conversion to POSIXct runs into problems; the second element is not
interpreted correctly:

Possible bug in base::namespaceImportFrom?
Hi,
namespaceImportFrom in base/R/namespace.R has the following:
fdef <- methods:::getGeneric(genName, impenv)
The definition of getGeneric is in methods/R/RMethodUtils.R starts
with:
getGeneric <-
## return the definition of the function named f as a generic.

## If there is no definition, throws an error or returns

Customizing locale settings in CentOS-4.5
I am trying to determine how to customize the date and time display of
system utilities and user programs using the locale settings. What I
really want is some sort of utility program that does the same thing for
CentOS as the Regions Settings Control Panel app. for MicroSoft Windows
accomplishes, but I have no hope of seeing that.
I have traced the login locale processing through /etc/profile

an object of class lm returned by lm?
Can someone tell me what an object of class lm returned by lm means? I
assumed it mean the regression model - but I'm not sure how to enter
this in. I have tried
y~a+b
but this is not working. I have also tried saving the regression
results and entering these, but again this is incorrect.

Rscript is not loading some of one of the standard R packages
Hi,
I have a script I can run step by step through the R interpreter and it works fine. I then run as a shell script with Rscript and it fails.
The error message comes when I am creating a model matrix with model.matrix.default().
Error in `contrasts<-`(`*tmp*`, value = "contr.Treatment") :
