R.oo data members / inheritance
If someone is able, can you tell me if there is a better way to do this? More specifically, do I have to rewrite all of the data members stuff and extend stuff of parent class in the child class? See below. Thanks in advance! Example 1: setConstructorS3("ClassA", function(A,x) { if(missing(A))A=15; if(missing(x))x=NA; extend(Object(), "ClassA", .size = A, .x=x

R.oo: do work on data member at construction
Hello, I'd like to 'do work' on data members upon construction (i.e. without implementing it in a get method). Is this the best way to create data member 'z' upon construction? I'm thinking if .z=paste(x,y) below gets more complex I'll run into issues. setConstructorS3("MyClass", function(x=NA,y=NA,...) { this <- extend(Object(), "MyClass",

Methods dispatch and inheritance R.oo
Hi to all members, i have a question about class inheritance and methods using R.oo package: I have the following code and it doesn't work, guess i'm doing smth wrong and there is nothing in the help. library(R.oo) setConstructorS3("ClassA", function(A=15) { extend(Object(), "ClassA", .size = A ); }) setMethodS3("print", "ClassA",

Difficulties with R.oo (static fields, etc.)
I would like to use R.oo and tcltk to implement a Turtle World. I have encountered many problems because: 1) I am not sure how to implement static fields with R.oo 2) I am not sure how to implement a constructor that would call a function only for the first instance of a class (i.e., to initialize value of static fields only once) 3) I am not sure how to remove/delete cleanly existing

What changed in the R Windows interface from v2.6.2 to v2.7.0?
Dear R-devel, I would like to launch the Rgui.exe from a Fortran console application (we will call this FortranCon.exe), that I have written myself. To do this, I send the command line "C:\Program Files\R\R-X.X.X\Rgui.exe" (where X.X.X is the version number) as an argument to the Windows API function CreateProcess (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms682425(VS.85).aspx)

Weird erratic error and illogical error message, could someone explain this?
Hello, It's several days I try to track this bug, and even cannot cook a reproducible example. Yet, it occurs consistently in a long-running task after a variable period of time. Here is an example: ... my long-running code [as I said, cannot give something simple that produces this bug in a reproducible manner] Error in match(x, table, nomatch = 0L) : formal argument

rawToChar(raw(0))
Hi, right now we have (on R v2.7.0 patched (2008-04-23 r45466)) that: > rawToChar(raw(0)) [1] "" > rawToChar(raw(0), multiple=TRUE) character(0) Is this intended or should both return character(0)? Personally, I would prefer that an empty input vector returns an empty output vector. Same should then apply to charToRaw(), but right now we get: > x <- character(0) >

Feature request: non-dropping regmatches/strextract
I do think keeping the default behavior is desirable for backwards compatibility; my suggestion is not to change default behavior but to add an optional argument that allows a different behavior. Although this can be implemented in a user-defined function, retaining empty matches facilitates programmatic use, and seems to be something that should be available in base R. It is available, for

Question about R.oo package
Dear R.oo package users, while testing some functionality of the R.oo, I found that during the first construction of a object from a class, the constructor is twice called, but only one object is finalized. In all subsequent creation processes, the constructor is (expectedly) called once. Here some example code: library(R.oo) setConstructorS3("Test_class",function(val) {

Grandstream Early Dial
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi Bryant, Thanks for your reply. It didn't work immediately, I had to create a second context, or else it was looping between the second and first line. This seems to work: [earlydial] ; Test Early Dial exten => _.,1,Set(l_Extension=${EXTEN}) exten => _.,n,Goto(earlydial2,${l_Extension},1) [earlydial2] exten => _.,n,Goto(noMatch,1)

R.oo inheritance with pass by reference
I thought I would post an example of using R.oo with inheritance and pass by reference for future searches. With PerMore I am inheriting Person. Then I am changing an object data memeber of an object of PerMore class using pass by reference ('mimiced' by R.oo) in an object of AgeMultiplier. I change a data member in the child class and the parent class for demonstration purposes. This is

R.oo package: do setMethodS3 work upon construction
Hello (Heinrich), I did not know I could do this. It doesn't seem to be documented anywhere. Thought this would be helpful to the fraction of the community using package R.oo. Note the call of a setMethodS3 method, xOne, in the setConstructorS3. This is extremely useful if xOne (in this case) is a very complex method (that you always want to be called every time you create a new object). If I

I am running the nnet package as > neural.soft<-nnet(custcat~region+ed+marital+tenure+age+address+income,size=3,softmax=TRUE) This returns the error message : formal argument "softmax" matched by multiple actual arguments Here the dependent variable "custcat" is a factor with 4-levels. R.oo package, inherit two classes
Hello, How do I inherit two classes using the R.oo package. Below is kind of a silly example, but I am trying to create class PerDog from classes Dog and Person. Error at bottom. I've tried a few other ways of using extend(), but nothing seems to get me what I want. Example: setConstructorS3("Person", function(age=NA) { this = extend(Object(), "Person", .age=age )

POSIXlt matching bug
I came across the below mis-feature/bug using match with POSIXlt objects (from strptime) in R 2.11.1 (though this appears to be an old issue). > x <- as.POSIXlt(Sys.Date()) > table <- as.POSIXlt(Sys.Date()+0:5) > length(x) [1] 1 > x %in% table # I expect TRUE [1] FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE > match(x, table) # I expect 1 [1] NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA

table(exclude = NULL) always includes NA
Looking at the code of function 'table' in R devel r71227, I see that the part "remove NA level if it was added only for excluded in factor(a, exclude=.)" is not quite right. In is.na(a) <- match(a0, c(exclude,NA), nomatch=0L) , I think that what is intended is a[a0 %in% c(exclude,NA)] <- NA . So, it should be is.na(a) <- match(a0, c(exclude,NA),
