rJava on Debian squeeze (or other versions of Linux)?
Has anyone successfully installed rJava on Debian squeeze (or any other version of linux)? I keep getting the ... (JDK) is missing or not registered in R error message when installing the package. I've tried running 'R CMD javareconf', setting JAVA_HOME and editing /etc/R/ldpaths by hand, but to no avail. The problem might be related to the R_JAVA_LD_LIBRARY_PATH that's

cluster with environment variables
In production I''ve setup a mongrel cluster of 2 servers. Now I''m using RJB(ruby java bridge). So I need certain java environment variables set before mongrel starts. So I set them: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/java/jdk1.6.0/jre/lib/i386/:/usr/java/jdk1.6.0/jre/lib/i386/client/:./ export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.6.0/ Then I run "mongrel_rails cluster::start". Now

Problem installing rJava under FreeBSD
Hi there I am setting up a FreeBSD server for my research department at university, and one of my teachers needs specifically R modules like tm, RWeka, rJava and the like. I have installed FreeBSD 8.0/i386 and applied the relevant security patches as well as the native FreeBSD JDK 1.6 with its latest patchset. I have installed R 2.11 and enabled Java support on it. Now, when trying to install

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Hi! I?m on macOS 10.13.3 and just installed the new Java 10 using Homebrew Cask. I also have installed R with Homebrew. Everything seems to work fine, however I just get different outputs if I run sudo R CMD javareconf or R CMD javareconf. With sudo I get pointed to Java 9 and without sudo I get pointed to Java 10. I really don?t know why. Without sudo: $ R CMD javareconf

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
I am not a Mac user, but I do use Linux and I would recommend not running R with sudo unless you are an admin ninja. That defensive practice would render the answer to your question moot. It is possible that your problem may have started with inappropriate use of sudo in configuring java, but configuring Java is not on-topic here. -- Sent from my phone. Please excuse my brevity. R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Hi Jeff!! I really don?t know if running R CMD javareconf with sudo has posed a problem here, now or in the past. What I know is sometimes it?s the only way to really config it, if I don?t run with sudo, in the end it asks me if I want to overwrite the configuration from root override rw-r--r-- root/admin for /usr/local/Cellar/r/3.4.4/lib/R/etc/Makeconf? (y/n [n]) y override rw-r--r--

Makefile vs Makevars vs configure
Apologies in advance for the long post. I'm currently using a Makefile to build my shared library. Pursuant to the R-exts manual, I'd like to switch to a Makevars file or a configure file if necessary. Having never used these types of make utilities before, I'm a bit lost. My package is quite simple. It only has one source file and one header: excelpoi.cpp excelpoi.h The reason I

Need Help debugging a Java based windows application to run
Hi All, I am trying to run a java based communication client developed for winidows to run on Ubuntu/Wine. First I tried installing the app without having JRE under Wine, it halted with an error while installing JRE. So, I installed JRE separately under wine and then the application. It installed correctly. Now, when I run the application, it starts (I can see it under the process list) and

how do I tell configure where to find Java? [Broadcast]
Before I do that, I would need to remove the gcj stuff that are in /usr/bin. If I know how to remove gcj, I'd gladly do that. However, for the particular version of the OS, the entire GCC seems to be bundled into one rpm, and I could not remove just the gcj component. Neither do I wish to mess with files that are part of some RPMs--- in my experience that's invitation for trouble later.
